hp is what is important since it is POWER., tq is just a force that can be manipulated and can be changed. hp cant be..... a 10c engine book from a book shop might do you well and those that thumbed you up

Ford didn't have much of a choice because of stupid emissions regulations which is why they started using the 6.0. international would have had to redesign the 7.3 so they just went ahead and designed a new engine. at least the 6.7 is as close to the same design 7.3 as you can get now days!

My 6.0L Ford's wont start in +5f unless plugged in, my Duramax's will both start -17f unplugged, not recommended mind you. I would love an old 7.3L again. I had a 93 non-turbo and a 97 turbo, trucks rotted to the ground around the drive-train over the years though so they are gone. Over 525,000 km on the 93 when I took it off the road. Never have tried a Dodge, I hope the Cummins in those trucks work better than the ISX motors in the Class 8's, most of those problems are DEF related though.

I’ve been watching these diesel start videos a long time On UA-cam, this is the favorite/best truck of all that I’ve seen. Appearance not over done, a very nice oldie, and lovely 7.3! Hold on to her.
I have a 1997 F250 heavy duty was a 460 gas was going to put in a 7.3 powerstroke but did a 7.3 IDI instead I like the simplesity of it I even used the 460 ZF 5 speed transmission drilled the top bolts from 3/8 to 1/2 bolted the diesel adapter plate on drilled the other four holes and dowl pins bolted right in of course you have to cut out left 460 frame mount and bolt in the diesel motor mounts wiring was simple except for the tachometer that was a pain, glow plugs work with a starter button.

It's not actually such a low temperature. The biggest problem is usually the battery, if it can hold the charge at those temperatures for that long, it's worth remembering where you got it from :)

My wife is trying to make me put stacks in the bed of my '99 7.3 but I just can't bring myself to spend the money on it right now. Just put $500 into very necessary ball joints and brake pads yesterday. I know that's nothing, but it's still money. Next up will be a new paint job!

yea i know it would be an exhaust leak :D but he said that no water could get to the engine and any water would drain out under the truck.. so i thought the water in the exhaust pipes too?
Collin Kreider well the exhaust valve is closed when the engine is not running/firing so water can't go in the engine. And as soon as it opens the explosion in the cylinder evaporates the water that wants to run down in it. Correct me if I'm wrong
The older diesels are getting harder to come by.... you will only find newer diesels like 2000 and up. It took me three years, a lot of saving and searching to find one of the Old School Turbo diesels. believe me save, save,save... once you get a diesel don't get rid of it.

You get no benefit from not starting it immediately after the WTS light turns off, as the glowplugs turn off with the WTS light. In fact by waiting, you're letting it cool down, if you want it warmer you need to cycle them on again.
I put a 7.3 in my Prius also. had to replace the suspension and remove the fender Wells due to the weight factor but the Ford bolts Mount right up was able to set my driver seat and steering wheel right on top of the glow plugs runs great

You get no benefit from not starting it immediately after the WTS light turns off, as the glowplugs turn off with the WTS light. In fact by waiting, you're letting it cool down, if you want it warmer you need to cycle them on again.
Glow plugs can stay on for up to 2 minutes after light goes off.

I put a 7.3 in my Prius also. had to replace the suspension and remove the fender Wells due to the weight factor but the Ford bolts Mount right up was able to set my driver seat and steering wheel right on top of the glow plugs runs great

awesome truck man. my 2001 7.3 took forever to start when it was cold in Boston MA. daily batteries with chargers on it still a bitch to start.
What kind of camera are you using?
