“Hoist up the Thing” has to be the best song title ever. It reminds me of Varrick from legend of Korra or Peter Potomas from Harvey birdman: attorney at law.
When is a rope no longer a rope? Without looking it up, only a true sailor would no this. I've sailed the high seas aboard Navy warships in the Med, Atlantic, Pacific, Sea of Japan, south China sea and a few more so yes it's been a good life, I was a Marine on the ships, was with the Fleet Marine Force most of my time, did 32 years in the military.
Thank you so much for your efforts in bringing this wonderful music to us listeners. I never knew such music existed until fairly recently in my life and am blessed to have discovered it.
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU UPLOADED A NEW VOLUME!!! I have all 5 of your previous volumes downloaded and listen to them on repeat while doing hard tasks. I'm so happy there's a sixth to binge now!

Sea songs or fore biters they may be but shanties they are not! A shanty needs to be one constant speed so the men can work to it! Up and down the scales just don't cut the ice!

Hoist up the Thing sounds like the theme song for The Gentleman Pirate Stede Bonnet.
Yes, it does. He was no sailor.
Never heard "Hoist up the Thing" before but an instant favor. This channels a godsend.

Down the southern ocean is a lonely place
The storms are many and the shelter's scarce
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
Over traveled waters and the restless skies
You'll see those mollymauks rise and dive
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
Why don't you ride the wind and go white seabird
Ride the wind and go mollymauk
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
Lord, what a lonesome song he sings
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
He's got no compass and he's got no gear
Nobody knows where the mollymauk steers
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
Why don't you ride the wind and go white seabird
Ride the wind and go mollymauk
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
He's the ghost of a sailor so I've heard said
His body 'came sand and his soul flew away
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
He's got no haven and he's got no home
Bound evermore to wheel and roam
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
Why don't you ride the wind and go white seabird
Ride the wind and go mollymauk
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
When I gets too old and I sail no more
Set me adrift far away from shore
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
You can cast me loose you can set me free
I'll keep that big bird company
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
Why don't you ride the wind and go white seabird
Ride the wind and go mollymauk
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
Why don't you ride the wind and go white seabird
Ride the wind and go Mollymauk
Down upon the southern ocean sailing
Down below Cape Horn
