A guy named Haddon Salt, a fish and chips cook from Derbyshire England, emigrated to the US in 1964 with the intent of selling the same caliber of fish and chips they enjoyed back in England. He started H. Salt Fish and Chips in California and it was a huge success and he eventually opened up 500 restaurants all together. I would go there all the time when I was a kid and the fish was really good, and so was the vinegar they had there. He ended up selling his restaurants to KFC for a fortune and the quality of the food went down after that. Now there's only a few of them left and the food is completely different than it was. Lots of restaurants in the US sell fish and chips but most of it isn't very good. I wish we had the original H. Salt restaurants back here again.
Loved seeing the meet up from the other vlog, and always good to see Nick and Leigh too, smashing to see your back downstairs, it looks gorgeous, been hard work but well worth it, neither of you seemed overly impressed again with fish and chips, we’ve always enjoyed the ones at Epcot in the uk pavilion, but it’s been a while since we’ve been there sadly, love the vlogs Barry and Maxine take care, see you both in the next one xx
Hey guys good to catch up. We had 9 weeks in Fl and the southern states. I tried Fish and Chips at the Town Tavern in Celebration and was pleasantly surprised how nice they were. Got to get caught up with your comings and goings as we head back in 4 weeks with our son, Gary and his daughter Izzy and Gemma. Do you guys know L&R Dreaming ( Luke and Richard) by any chance? By the way several new places to eat opposite Margaritaville coming soon. Lazy Dog, KeKe's, and more.
@@ThemeParkBazza First time we met them we had a birthday cum Hurricane party at our in 2016. They've been staying at our place this last week again. A nice couple of guys.
We had the fish and chips in Epcott, not sure we'd visit the Gordon Ramseys though, when we're in the US we prefer more American restaurants. Having said that we rarely ever have fish and chips in the UK either 😂
To be honest, we never ate UK food when we visited the USA. Our motto has always been " when in Rome." Once we moved here, it quickly became apparent it was cheaper to find them here than fly home :-). I only eat them on a rare occasion, Max however loves them
It used to be called Icon360 the wheel thing, we’ve done it a few times, always enjoy it. Are the chips even proper chips in Gordon Ramsay’s? They looked like French fries? We prefer to have chicken strips and a beer sat outside Tin Roof ❤
I find north american fish and chips are sometimes pretty tasteless I think people are so afraid of a `fishy` taste so they stick to the very mild stuff. Of course it depends where you are too; some seaside places have more variety. (I was born in Burnley but emigrated to Canada with my family when I was 15 in 1965). I live on the west coast so there are more places here that offer a variety of fish which is nice. Also here we very often see battered salmon too).
Just a tip from a ‘nervous’ wheel goer - you buy the drinks and take them on the wheel - that’s the best part… not getting to the top and clinging to the middle like a lunatic 😂
Bigger wheel than our big wheel this week, but we love a wheel! Never been to icon park, looks improved. The F&C were never going to be up to Mrs Bazzas standards 😮
Thank you for the review. I almost went there in April. I feel like this would not be any better than Long John Silvers or Captain D's. Which is half the price.
I'm a big fan of Gordon Ramsay, but I just can't bring myself to go to his restaurant again. I have only gone once. They really need to have his team check the food quality. It's the same with Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs. The waiter was obviously having a bad day. But it ruined the experience as he pretty much slapped down our food on the table. We felt un-welcomed. We were so excited as we are huge fans of Morimoto and have watched him when he was on Iron Chef for yrs. We may go back one day, but not anytime soon. (Sorry, lol, we are foodies) Have a wonderful weekend! 🌴 🌞 Edit: Sorry for the novel lol
Sorry that you didn't have a great experience again at Gordon Ramseys but, you do need to sometimes retry establishments. Kuddos for trying. I'm not a fish and chips person but, my best friend of over 30 yrs, was born in England and came to the U.S.A. with her husband at age 21, loves good fish and chips.
Would never to be able to get Suzanne on that wheel… I’d give it a go, but even I’d be saying hurry up and get me off lol. That chicken looked weird, and I dislike badder like that on my fish. To crispy for me… Us Portuguese 🇵🇹 use a fluffier badder.
Hi Guys another great vlog. I totally agree with you I think that Gordon Ramsay is very over rated. Not like English fish and chips at all if people think this is what our fish and chips are like they will be very disappointed also gives British fish and chips a bad name. Like Gordon Ramsay restaurant in Dubai
Wouldn’t dare drink before going on big wheel thingy, if you break down you’ve had it especially if you are sharing it with someone you don’t know, I take it there’s emergency “kit” but oh how embarrassing 🙈 can’t beat a bit of flakey English cod , mushy peas and chips wrapped in proper newspaper. ( I used to work in a fish and chip shop when I was 15, we used newspaper. Oh an a pickled egg.
Yardhouse are very good for food. You’d have had much better food there. These ‘fish and chips’ look like junk. I’m from Yorkshire so this would not ‘cut the mustard’ whatsoever. My favourite is 149 in Bridlington, amazing. Even Charles and Camilla have had them from there.
I'm not keen on icon park. It's like that fun spot no atmosphere. There used to be a square with live entertainment further down idrive which was good. Think it's all closed down now though.. And Baz u looked tired, must be Max wearing u out.. Lol.
It depends on when you visit Icon Park, Friday and Saturday afternoon and evening, It's buzzing. It's pretty dead other times, I agree. I had been on a lot of business trips that are quite tiring
Hi guys, great vlog day out. I have seen a lot of Gordon Ramsay’s fish and chip restaurant vlogs and they are all very mediocre……..shame 😢 As you say, like Millers……….OVERRATED 😮

Woe I never knew about that, where are the remaining restaurants ?
There's a couple near me in Southern California but they are independently owned and nothing like H. Salt at their peak.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._Salt_Esq._Fish_%26_Chips
I miss those. They were very good.
Just started to watch your vlogs and have to say enjoying them keep up the great work 👌
Thank you George , appreciate you taking the time to follow along

Wow, thank you!
Can you please do a review on Cookes of Dublin fish & chips in Disney Springs?
I am sure we can force ourselves to do that in the near future , if we must :-)

The ones in EPCOT are pretty good Denise
Hey Bazza's ~ good informative vlog. Sorry to hear that the visit to Gordon Ramsay's Restaurant was disappointing! Loved the chat on the wheel. X
Thanks Fergan, wonderful view from the top of the wheel :-)
Nice video :) I enjoyed it. Wish the weather had been better for you
Me too!
Thanx for the tip to ask for any offers at the Wheel kiosk, will definitely do that. Perkins fish n chips were very nice ...thanks for sharing...😊
We did learn something new in asking at that desk

That’s pretty cool that you can see the progress of Epic Universe from the wheel! But I think I’ll stay on the ground for now 😂
When it's not raining:-)

Hi we enjoyed the fish and chips at raglan road at the springs but the lager did help!!! How’s red 5? Keep safe Andy and Vonnie
Red 5 is no longer around , story to come soon
Thanks for GR review ! will be sticking to Cooke’s at Disney Springs as we love it there 🤗♥️

I think you made a wise choice Jilly,on the food and the location
Rejected by the queen of fish and chips😂 love your content mr and mrs bazza, keep up the good work.
She is definitely a fish and chip consisour

I love the fish in Canada and the North East shore near Boston. It seems the further south you go, the blander they become

I love all your food reviews. Thanks
Thanks for following along

We agree with that Donald
So who's the best fish n chips then? Yorkshire f/c in epcot, or leaky cauldron?
Definitely EPCOT Yorkshire Counry fish shop outside. Cookes of Dublin in Springs is a close second
@@ThemeParkBazza I agree, Yorkshire is pretty good!

Recommendations for best fish and chips in Orlando?
Yorkshire County Fish shop EPCOT and Cookes of Dublin at Disney Springs

We could try getting her drunk ?
Cost me £16 for two fish and one portion of chips in St Anne’s, cod was tasteless , good thing plenty of salt and vinegar 🤣 that was take out too!
Oh wow!
The best fish and chips in florida I found was Cooks of Dublin at Disney springs
They are good, very close second to the Yorkshire County fish shop in EPCOT
I also love Odaiba

Good video 👍
Thanks 👍

So does Max, but prefers the Bang, Bang Shrimp more

Shame the fish and chips weren’t great. You’ll have to load up with British fish and chips when you return to the UK.
