ROOOOOASSSTIIING MYSELFFFFF is back! I recently got a whole bunch of harsh but true comments on my Udacrep Akubrad and I wanted to join in on the self-roasting fun hahaha... it's always good to look back at your old work and figure out what you can do better 😊anyway hope you enjoyed this one!
More content coming soon and I'm working on a few things including a duo recital here in March, a collaboration with a well known earplug company (!!) and also my new malletsssss. Have a good Sunday!

Totally agree about the marimba composers putting out Bach transcriptions 🤦🏿‍♂️

Seems like an elaborate scam to have a marimbist take a free violin score, put some sticking on it and charge $20 hahaha

Not only that, but also there's a popular Chaconne transcription (not gonna mention whose) which has text mistakes (whether intentional or unintentional). It is sold for 27$.

A lot of the issues with your snare technique in that piece stem from how you're holding the stick? Seems like your RH is pinching the fulcrum a lot and you're not using your back fingers on the stick to control space in your hands. Stiff wrists are also a huge issue as you use your shoulder and arm a lot but tense your hands? Not necessarily incorrect in using upper body but if you're using upper joints you can still engage your wrists and fingers with looseness, or to add rebound, etc. Something that helps my stroke to be more consistent is by not wasting energy with unnecessary upper body motion. How you engage motion your arms, shoulders, back and hands translate directly to the drum from the stick! I strive always for better body awareness in SD so I can better execute the musical intention :)
But like these are pretty common errors and I'm sure I was not much better in 2015.

That was impressive! I don't know how you would anyway get the right notes on a marimba, I feel the mallet would somehow slip from my fingers...

I didn't see anything totally wrong in the pieces but that might be because I have all the same problems 😁
