I firmly believe Christie won....it's amazing how much popularity and worldly hierarchical influences affect decision making even in International Sporting competitions....
Agree. I just seen this video and its so obvious that Carl lost the race. I believe the fact that he was a popular man and a homosexual is why he got the victory. Sad but true. Hence: look at who's popular(or trendy) today(LGBTQ). Ijs
Carl is always running close to his competitors lane, always leaning towards the lane of the competitor closest to him,who is usually his fiercest competition. He should run in the middle of his lane like everyone else. I think Christie won that race, but because of Lewis's antics after the race. I believe they were a bit challenged to make the right anouncement.
@@hotbawyet1961 he sure was over the line a few times. He knew he had competition and he tried his best to win but overall he ran an okay race but it wasn't good and he surely didn't win(well for real) lol
Crazy decision. Christie clearly won that race. Lewis was third over the line. But what's with stepping on the line? Isn't that an immediate disqualification? Crazy result. WTF!
stop the film at 7:43 time stamp. Christie won. Olapade Adeniken was clearly second place and carl lewis third. But Carl Lewis was such a diva and drama queen, and since he was the star of the show, they awarded him the victory...And so it goes !
Facts! Carl lost and he knows it. He had an opportunity to be humble and he failed miserably. Just because he was black, popular and gay doesn't make it right for all those supporters(fans/media) to lie and cheat Linford out of race. I believe Carl came in 3rd(or tie for 2nd place).
I didin't know these great athletes not until i watched this you tube..thanks for showing us anyways...but i think mr. Carl lewis should have got the bronze medal here hahahah
Bullshit. Another example of Lewis' people buying it. Christie was clearly in front at the line there, that's why they never showed the official photo finish. They left it because they didn't want to embarrass Lewis after he (once again) took the flowers and somebody else's lap of honour.
Times are always slower in Europe than in the U.S. The weather is cooler and damper which isn't good for sprinters and it's often negative wind or zero wind. Lewis barely won but he stepped out of his lane 6 times in the race.
it's silly, all these petty people judging a gritty video that doesn't even show the finish from side on. These days it seems any and every Jo-Blow has to be the expert ... I'll go with the timing device and internationally rated judges
The timing device does not tell who was first and noone knows these "internationally rated judges". It was a small event in Oslo. When 94 ppl. comment on this video they are definitely not showing up here occasionally. Finally, it is no secret the more famous athletes tend to win close matches, fights and performances.
The Bislett Games in Oslo is one of the most renowned athletics meetings on the international circuit, so it would have top judges. There's no clear angle that I could see - though happy to be corrected- showing where the athletes' chests were on the line. All I can make out is the foot placings which don't necessarily equate to finishing positions.
just how did internationally rated judges with electronic timing and photo finish devices "rob" anyone .... and in front of a TV audience? And why ... did someone offer them big bucks that they chanced gambling their careers on?
@@stevecrocker6904 regardless of the time they crossed the line, Lewis stepped out of his lane. Lewis should be disqualified. You think electronic timing and TV would stop the biased decision? dude.....dude

It does appear that Christie's foot passed the line first, but Lewis's chest must have crossed the line first - there's no clear angle to show that though.
Lewis ran half the race in someone elses lane, and crosses the finish line 3rd.....but takes home the win! disgraceful. I'm glad the sport has progressed since then. I would be OK if they brought back the false start though, it's a real shame to watch someone work years to a finals and get booted for a single false start.
These times were pretty quick, gatta remember that the WR during this time was only 9.92, guys weren't dropping sub-10 second times like that back then. A 9.92 is almost pedestrian today
8:20... When he steps on(or over) the line which isn't supposed to happen during ANY part of the race. Hmmmm? Why didn't they noticed that why he wasn't disqualified for that why ignore that crucial part of the race??? Come on now the media was rooting for Carl and remember he had sponsors etc. Can we say "sell out"(sold his soul).?
I firmly believe Christie won....it's amazing how much popularity and worldly hierarchical influences affect decision making even in International Sporting competitions....
Carl Lewis won by the tip of his toe. That's what separated the top three.
doesn't matter. The timing devices say he didn't

Not foul if he did not gain an advantage, such is the case on a straightaway.
Just to make it clear. Athletes dont get disqualified in the 100m for lane violation until they interrupt the runner beside him
