YES!!!! This is what I'm talking about! The video was 31 mins long and it didn't feel like it. Great tennis from everyone!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Production team deserves a raise. Great content and great presentation. A+!
🔥
Hearing player communication before points, and after-game team comments … terrific!
Absolutely!
The editing for the highlight shots is top tier!
This video was just pure fun. And the tiebreak trailer, daaaamn!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is awesome. Best tennis channel in the world!
Nice content. You may include some information on the rackets the boys (and all those who pay on this channel) use, are they customized.... it will be interesting for the fans
Great suggestion!
I love this channel! I’m a club pro and I learn so many great tips to share with my players and I love watching tennis on this level with commentary. Thank you for your hard work with these videos!
Great match! Ian, always love the insights and commentary. You both were on point during this match. Scott was right on with the speed of Mike’s serve! Nice job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love it. The confessions were interesting too, specially when guys talked about what WAS working. Can't wait to see the rest of this excellent display of tennis. I feel really old, all of a sudden. 😂
This is awesome as stuff, I need to learn better movement (poaching or being super aggressive with volleys) and communication with my partners. This stuff helps so much! Can't wait for the next vids
More coming soon, Tony!
Such a great battle. More of this content please!
really enjoyable watch from the tennis, the commentary, and the in game insights. if this was the format for pro-tour level play, Doubles tennis would be a much more popular game to follow.
Great content as ever guys. so well presented
Great doubles with really good tactics!
What a set! Great tennis by all four of these guys.
💪
Fantastic play and video. More fun to watch than the pros
YESSS! More high level dubs!!!!
More on the way!
Thanks 🙏 again! I really learn quite a bit from these match play videos [ Essential Tennis 🎾] Scott , you are a genius…. my man…. Ian and Mark too ….
Took my lunch break, had sandwich, chips and Tennis for Dessert...Almost choked over here living and dying with every point.... Ryan has soft hands but I need him to be like PIA!!! (Put it Away) every time he hits that ball at the net... Let's Go! Way to work Alex
Glad you enjoyed it!
As Garth and Wayne would say ... "we're not worthy"!!!!
Such good quality tennis! I thought Alex and Ryan did extremely well to hold serve whilst down against some really tough opponents in Cole and Mike. Looking forward to the next part
I don’t know if the young mustachioed Ryan Gosling and his buddy can hold off the power of Cole and Mike. Can’t wait to see the next video! Excellent play.
Next video coming soon!!
This is doubles as it should be played! Great movement, shots, tactics, the whole nine yards! Mike/Cole act like they've been doubles partners for years, their styles mesh so well. Alex/Ryan seem kinda opposite: Alex is so aggressive/explosive at the net, and Ryan is more passive. Yet it seems to work out--Alex/Ryan managed to get to 6-all even though they seemed to have a lot of difficulty winning their games. I would give Mike/Cole the edge in the tiebreak.
awesome match so far!!! high action doubles..so so good 👍🏼
🔥
This was incredible, can’t wait for part 2!
Coming soon!
Looks like 3 are using green strings....Hyper G or Hyper G Soft?..what does Cole use in his Prince, I like his game
Luxilon 4G
INSANE ACTION!
Absolutely!
Awesome content guys. Thank you 👍
Glad you enjoy it!
DC and Marvel take note...there is ET now too. We have new super heroes here. Awesome.
💪
Justin Beiber’s long lost brother and a mini Steve Johnson. Nice combo.
so fun to watch
What happened at 28:16? Serve was in, return was in, and frameshot was in but they all stopped?
High level doubles right here...
Ian whats in those big boxes behind you?
People's junk!
I only watched the first 5 games but those supposed D1 players certainly did not look like D1 players. This looked like a nice D3 match. In full disclosure, I did just watch two quick and edited D1 singles matches between Stanford, Cal Berkley and U of Wash players. Those four guys were light years ahead of these four players.
A lot of these titles are misleading.. both teams are players from UW whitewater which is a d3 college... that being said there are some d3 schools like Gustavus Adolphus and Emory that will certainly compete with high level d1 schools.
So good!
So Ian when are you going to play Cole 1V1
which team is D1 and which is D3? And how much of a difference is D1 from D3? I know almost nothing about college tennis, so what ranking would players like these have?
I thought they were all DIII. All play or played at Whitewater, yes?
@@dennisbrowne2424 title reads d1 vs d3 though
@@autopiloot I think the title is wrong. 3 are current players at DIII Wisconsin-Whitewater, and 1 played there a few years ago (perhaps he played at a DI school and transferred, but he definitely played at Whitewater). There's no direct, necessary correlation between tennis rankings and the NCAA's three divisions. DI and DII schools can give athletic scholarships, DIII cannot (they can, however, give academic scholarships). Generally, the players will be stronger at top DI schools than at top DII schools, and stronger at top DII schools than at DIII. If the DII or DIII team champions any given year play even a mid-level DI school, safe money would be with the DI team.
@@dennisbrowne2424 Alright, thank you for answering!
D3 is anywhere from NTRP 4.5-5.5 and D1 is 5.5-6.0
28:14 that ball is in!
Tennis doubles is just singles tennis but with 10x the anxiety, stress and self doubt. Whenever I play doubles I tend to question myself if I really even know how to play tennis correctly.
Ian, when are we seeing you in one of these?
Alex forehand looks like something dangerous, would love to see him play singles
Agreed!
At 13:10 what is a "mustache game"?
The game of the mustache of course!
They serve pros' serve, 105mph is 184kmh! That's absolutely the service speed at Masters
I'm still watching this...but which one is D1??
I feel like Mike has BDE--Big Dad Energy. "You paid for the whole racquet, you might as well use it."
Cole and Mike get the W in 2 set
We'll find out soon!
Idk they get some good highlights but unforced errors might be higher
Aren’t all these guys alums/players from UW Whitewater? So why does it say D1 vs D3?
Interesting. In the circles I run in, yelling “yours” to your teammate is considered really poor form. The only thing we ever yell is “mine”.
I imagine that the level and consistency in which these guys are playing allows for them to know each other’s strengths well enough to say that a certain ball is more suited for their partner or their strategy (maybe calling for your partner to pick up the lob because you are better at the net and they’re quicker).
Watch some pro doubles, Chuck. You'll hear "yours" pretty regularly.
Or "help"
Camera nerves for Ryan?
Maybe...
I can't say for his groundstrokes but he is definitely too stiff and flat-footed at net. Coming from experience yes either he has nerves or simply he isn't confident with his net game when it comes to people who hit with pace like mike and cole.
There is an old fashioned thing that us old timers used to do called "serve and volley".......
True.... didn't see ONE from servers. Maybe the return games weren't too good, huh?
👍
Ian
Commentary from both players and spectators overlaid with relevant b roll - Wow! There's no where else you can watch tennis like this.
28:15 ball was in?
Ball hit the ceiling
the hat dropping off the head is a hindrance, it is the other team's point.
First instance is a let
^ Yup
A) Only if you call it. B) Not in this case. The hat hitting the ground didn't affect anything at all so it would have been a "curious" call. It's only a hindrance if it hinders you from making a proper play on the ball and in this case the serve went to Mike and he watched the serve coming his way and his return went long. Cole was also watching the serve to check if it was in or out, so by the time either of them could have seen the hat on the ground, the return had already been made. Regardless it would not have been the other team's point. From Friend at Court - "However, if a player’s
hat falls off during a point, an opponent may immediately call a let due to unintentional hindrance" --- and unintentional hindrances are lets. I thought multiple offenses of a hat falling (or ball coming out of a pocket) would take points - but I don't see that in official USTA guidelines.
Why don’t you play a doubles match
Who plays d1
Alex kinda reminds me of Medvedev
Ya, I can see that
Who plays D1? They're both wearing Whitewater shirts.
Mike played D1 tennis.
whos D1????
Pretty sure it's Mike, Cole's partner.
Yup, Mike played D1.
1. There is no word 'laxadaisical.' It's LACKadaisical. 2. Why have a color commentator if you're going to talk 90% of the time and then interrupt him when he does want to speak?
if D1 guys are any good, this should be a blowout
College tennis isn't as simple as "D3 is good" and "D1 is better", Jin. There's a massive range from top to bottom of every division. It's not a level rating.
College tennis seems horrible to be a part of and antithetical to all other levels of tennis. I’m not saying tennis as a “gentlemen’s” sport needs to be what it was in the 1920s, but purposely messing with people’s heads and trying to steal points has always seemed bush league to me
It's not just college, and it's not just tennis, Jordan. At very high levels of any sport psychological warfare is standard.
College Tennis is the best!
I think I agree in principle, insofar as stealing points. I didn't see these guys do anything bush league though -- I thought they all represented themselves, their school, and the game admirably.
I agree!
Hmmm. You first win with attitude. Then you execute. If everyone does the same, the little details (great plays) are factor. Attitude puts you ahead of the game, but needs back up with execution. "Don't be cute. Execute"
Purple kid's teammate has no business on a doubles court. Just no net game, and not enough strength to hold the racquet steady during even a block volley.
You think you could beat him?
Purple kid's (Alex's) teammate (Ryan) plays #1 doubles for a good college team. Is it possible that maybe he's nervous, you know, playing on the internet where any person can take a stab at his game whether or not they should? Or possibly he was having a slightly off day at the beginning, you know that happens sometimes. If you watch more than the missed volleys at the beginning, you'll see there is a lot of talent in Ryan. Maybe you never miss shots, but us mere mortals sometimes have ups and downs.
