  • You always listen to Mom right? On this episode of I Love My HBCU?, Shaemekia Jamison, the founder of HBCU Mom, and PROUD Tuskegee University Alumna, shares her love and enthusiasm for assisting younger individuals looking for their destined HBCU. Her social media platform #HBCUMom gives virtual HBCU tours for students who don’t have access to in-person college tours and provides necessary tips for high schoolers about to make that big leap.
Although her primary audience are first-generation college students, her “Mom knows best” persona delivered in an informative and caring package attracts all levels of college students.
If Shaemekia “HBCUMom Jamison has her way, no prospective college student will make their college choice without having visited at least one HBCU first, or least spoken to someone who’s been. Is she wrong? - We’re kind of biased over here. Tune in to find out why many HBCU College students are happy to adopt this HBCU Mom as a surrogate mom through their college years and why she wears that title with honor.

Being a student athlete myself during my tenure at AU, the community showers was a welcome to adulthood statement. But in spite of it all HBCU life in the early 2000 was a the best time to self identify where you took a stance on certain agendas from getting a career and/ or to giving back to your people. Great interview lady’s ! We need more of this
