I bought this pedal from Sweetwater around a year ago, and it's an "always on" pedal for me. The level control does in fact go into boost, something I didn't expect, so I was clicking pedals on and off like an idiot trying to find out where the drive was coming from. But understanding how to use it has made it a huge asset to my board.
People ask me all the time how do get my sounds , they don't realize it is the compressor. Compressors are commonly overlooked. Country music and Pink Floyd uses multiple compressors. I have a good compressor already, but the added features on Keeley compressor Plus has me putting one on hold for me at the store.... after experimentation I planned on stacking compressions
Got one recently, pretty satisfied, but it requires a good power supply, like an " Isolated powerbank " ,otherwise when you increase the blend knob, it starts making noise, therefore you have to keep low the main level. I have found a good solution with an Isolated powerbank, helps a lot to avoid annoying hum. About the sound quality, if you like the 60's or the 70's, this Keeley is perfect !
in the end I bought the tc, and it works very well no noise, I have a very cheap power supply haha, yes, I will have to invest in a good one, thank you very much
@robertmessinger6053 Hi Robert , thanx for your kind reply, when i've wrote this comment it was two years ago , i want to be sincere with you ; in the beginning i was enthusiastic ( hope my english is not wrong !) for the brighteness of the sound of this compressor , but after a short time i gave it away exactly for the impression that i had since the first use : hum !! If i have to use a compressor , i like to " push" the sound out keeping the level knob in the middle position , if not a little bit more , i have changed it with the JHS " 3 Series " , when i'm with my friends to play together, for home purpose i have an Harley Benton Dyna Comp , and ,despite the low price , is not a junk , and unless you do not have high preteciencies , for 30 euros it worth to have one . I would have loved the Janglebox, but here in Italy you can not find it , no stores are importing this product , not even on request . But now i can say that after severel " experiments" i have found the right pedalchain to obtain the sound i was looking for . Let me give you a final tip : did you ever think to buy one of those pedals called " cabsim" made by Harley Benton? I've got the " American Sound " , believe me , it helped me a lot , and it has the same price of the Dyna Comp ( 30 euros) , these pedals can help you to find the perfect sound that you prefer . Go in internet and search for these pedals . Have a good time for the coming Holydays , Greetings from Italy, Patrick.
@@patrickbuzzo1970 I switched to a Bogner Harlow boost with “bloom” compression. Not exactly a compressor but it works amazing for guitar and doesn’t squash out notes. Probably not great for bass but exceptional for guitar. It even sounds great on an electric nylon and it’s not anywhere near as noisy as the Keeley. Cheers!
Nice demo, I may just order one of those compressors, interesting humbucker/single coil switch..and killer PRS 513...well played :) thanks for uploading..
I used to live/work in Branson, and we had the Oaks in our theatre (The Grand Palace) every Wednesday for 2 shows. I was doing the back line set up each week, and I’ve interacted with Don on many occasions. Not only is he a great player, but he’s a genuinely nice guy. The band would play a couple of tunes for sound check, including Steely Dan, AC/DC and Earth, Wind & Fire. Those sound checks are still some of my coolest memories from working in Branson. I hope that you get to meet him one day and see him play in person.
Hi, Markus. Both are very good. If you want a little extra control over the pedal, the Keeley is a great way to go. If you want really simple and small footprint, the Xotic is great choice, as well. Hi Boss VE8. It's basically an input volume compensation. In all cases, regardless of which pickups you have, just use whichever switch position sounds best to you. -_Daniel_
Christallica, i already owned the Tc Hypergravity, and recently i have bought the Keeley, i have to say that the TC has a lower noise and a clean sound, if you are looking for a compressor that pushes out the sound from your instrument with high output, i have to say that Keeley is better. To avoid the hum ,it is very important to have a good power supply, i suggest to watch Thomann site ,and see for an " Isolated powerbank" , these products really make the difference, don't buy cheap power supply, is like throwing your money in the trashcan . My best regards, Patrick from Italy
Hey, Graham. Good question, thanks for asking! The Single/Humbucker switch on the Keeley relates to the release time. Shorter for Humbuckers. The Pad is a front end gain switch on the Tone Corset. More gain for low output, less gain for active and high output pickups. Please contact me direct if I didn't answer your question completely. Robert Williams, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 2371, robert_williams@sweetwater.com
Is it great with Humbuckers? I noticed your demo time with them was only like 5 seconds. I have an Ibanez semi-hollow body, with Humbuckers. I'd like to try compression, but maybe it's just not ideal. Thank you!!!
My electric semi hollow bouzouki has 2 Gfs humbuckers, and with the Keeley compressor sounds great. As i wrote on my main comment, it needs a good power supply, to avoid hum / noise when you increase the blend knob or the main level knob . The quality is excellent.
@@mikec6733 i don't know where you are from , however you can search in internet for the product ( like i did) Harley Benton Iso powerbank , mine can connect 8 pedals ,with the option that 2 connections can work with 9/ 12/ 18 volts , the price is very convenient, and you can find this product on Thomann site. There are also powerbanks for 5 pedals or 10 , as you prefer. You can find other brands, depends how much you want to spend, but i have to admit that for what i have paid ,it is a very good power supply. Thomann is located in Germany, but they deliver all around the world .Cast an eye on Thomann. Remember that you have pay some extra money to receive your orders to your address. 🖐🎸
Broken Pilgrim, i forgot to tell you that the Harley Benton Iso powerbank includes the wires ( connecting cables) already in the box, so you don't have to worry to buy spare singles wires for your pedals .
Question.. my Strat has a single coil neck and middle and a humbucker bridge..Where would I set the middle toggle switch to? I use the single coils for rhythm playing and the humbucker for solos.. Thanks Sweetwater ✌🏼😎
Hey, Jubilo! The switch controls the release time of the compressor and is totally based on your touch and taste. Humbucker is faster and a little louder. There is no right or wrong. Experiment and see which you like. Please contact me direct for more information on this or any other gear questions. Thanks for reaching out! The Wampler Ego is cleaner but also darker. The Keeley seems to introduce a bit of saturation or subtle distortion. Listen at 4:13 and hear that grit. Both are great pedals, just depends on what you like.

Just purchased it’s been a long time coming!
Hey Don.
What brand of shampoo do you use?
Wow. 5 months and still no response. Sweetwater customer service is not what it used to be.
Johannes Labusch I love this comment
Well ... his guitar playing is 'Head & Shoulders' above most.
Boxing 321 That says more about you than it does them. Just sayin’ 🤔
It’s not about the brand. It’s about rinse and repeat. ALWAYS repeat.

Was looking at more "transparent"compressors when I realized I preferred this one because it has its own sound which is pretty cool.

I’ve owned it and I found it to be a little bit on the noisy side for my studio. It wasn’t bad but I found the additional noise too distracting…

Just picked one up, but it is too late to plug in. Good thing I have the next 2 days off.
How do you like it?
I heard some recording guys say years ago the best compressor you can get it the one you hardy know is on.....
Wish it had an attack control
Would you say this version have more output (volume) than the previous version the C4?
Yes
Sounds fantastic. Great price too!
Great demo. Tempting.
It’s my favorite demo guy again!! Hopefully I will finally get to meet him at GearFest this year. 🤞🏻

Why is this one so much cheaper than the old 4 knob?
