- Milwaukee Packout VS Klein ModBox. Are they any good? Do they hold up?
This is a brief review of my experience with the Milwaukee Packout tool box system. In short...the latches don't hold up around corrosive chemicals! Milwaukee doesn't back them up either. So I tried Klein Tools ModBox...and they killed it! No problems what so ever. So I switched to Klein. I do have a couple Milwaukee Packout items left that were past Home Depots 90 day return policy (xl box, work tops, and a tool bag). I have no need for them at this point, so destructive testing in future video? Let me know!
Modbox is the real competitor to Packout , but in the drawer I stay with the red ones , anyway both systems are amazing...
@Azscoper @Greetings Bro I know this comment is a bit late , I wanted to provide some feedback on the video specifically regarding the title . I would recommend considering a title something among the topic of “corrosion”,as it alights well with the compelling evidence you’ve represented.Such evidence is crucial for informing users,designers/creators ,engineering teams,product development and tool companies to develop improved products .
I would say that the ModBox has a better "triple stack" that being said milwaukee has waaay more options. Wall mounts to clean your entire garage. You can even set it up to never have to take them apart with drawers and cabinets. It's just not there yet and I don't think they can catch up. Toughbuilt is impressive did the right thing and launched with tons of options
I am a big FLEX Stack Pack kind of guy but I started out with 22 pieces of Milwaukee and I have to be truthful I have never seen this situation not even once
This sucks. My pack out is in my work van. I really hope this doesn’t start happening to my set. I’m a plumber so I don’t deal with nearly as many chemicals as you do.
I had those small plastic insert boxes break the first month…the molded latches fell off

Throw the boxes in water and let them sit 24hrs the only one that is gonna come up dry is dewalt
Yeah that's weird in my experience. I'd reach out to a different rep. Link them this video.
I'd call the Home Depot and ask when the Milwaukie reps come in. Then when talking face to face I'd send them the video. If they watch the video they'd see someone who bought more than a single box. Most reps will want to give a little to keep a repeat customer.
I've been using packout for a few years. They live in the work van. I'm a paint and drywall guy in Southern USA, so they've seen some high temps. My year old XL box, I leave unlatched and hang tool's on the latches.
The Packout imo has the best latching system in the modular toolbox game so far. The Klein looks good in that regard though.
Milwaukie has the variety that the others don't so far.
Flex released a second wave of boxes, and that included drawers. They are a side latching system though.

Did homedepot let you return all your Packout even after it was used?
Yes, the took them all back since it was within 90 days of the original purchase date. I still have some of the crates, an XL box, and the cooler I bought on eBay. The crates don't seem to have any issues like the latching boxes, so I continued to use the crates until I pick a new system.

Packout, Keeter, ModBox all the the simlar boxes are made by the same company in israel.
I've had packout since the release, about 30 boxes, no damage to anyone of them, only two lids that was made wrong so they dont go all the way back. And i throw them around and use them as ladders. Any plastic react to thinner, if its hot, then it melt right away. Might be your problem.
I confirmed that the KLEIN MODBOX is made in China, not Isreal. Not that China inspires me with confidence, but at least it is different. I don't use thinner in my line of work, but I would expect chemicals that are designed to break down polymers, would indeed break down polymers.
Thanks for the information, I d rather buy products made in China, than made in Israel at this point.

I agree with you Milwaukee's kind of hot garbage I use a lot of veto pro-pac bags and have designed bags for them and just saw that Milwaukee has come out with some new open top tool bags that are essentially red rebranded copies of veto pro-pac bags they can't even design bags I agree with you
No they aren't. They are a great system. Perfect for my electrical needs. Instead of calling a perfectly fine system "hot garbage" get the set that works for you. This set didn't work for this gentlemen, but it's perfectly awesome for .e

I intend to. I am going to do another video with some destructive testing from the various popular tool storage brands. We'll see who holds up!
I would be more worried about my lungs!
