This is how immigration is supposed to work, and honestly hope Yoel and Mari can settle into their new lives in the US and feel like real AMERICANS!! Congratulations on your journey you two!!
@@Jrh770 it should be this easy but unfortunately it's not. Unless you have a large amount of money, get married, or have a great career it takes decades to get even a work permit. Which is stupid because in America everyone just complains about literally everything.
@Bobby 99% of the people who come to the United States simply want to come here and work. Unfortunately asylum seekers are not allowed to have a work permit until they have been here for six months with is totally absurd in my opinion! They are forced to rely on charity until they are allowed to have work permit, but that is not by their choice!
My family immigrated legally from Cuba in 1961. I was 1 year old and my brother was 2. I can’t imagine the sacrifices my parents made taking two small children to another country not speaking the language, no money and not knowing what the future held. But they knew they and their children would have freedom and with that opportunity. The worked hard and made many sacrifices but it was all worth it. God bless you both.
My Scottish husband and I went through our own immigration story. It isn't easy to get in here (unless you come in illegal!) We went by the book and it was rough. But here we are 18 years later and he not only finished his high school education but he is now a full citizen. God Bless America!
Great story! One little point: For those of us anglophones who have studied Spanish, the subtitles were helpful when Spanish was being spoken. But for anyone else, English subtitles would have made your story much more accessible. And no one should miss any detail! It's a wonderful, touching story.
I thought the subtitles were hilarious! They were trying to interpret what Mari was saying in English as if she were speaking Spanish. For example, "embassy" became "en bici" (on a bike), "gone" was rendered as "Cannes" (the French city), "lunch and dinner" turned into "argentina". My own Spanish is good enough to get by, but I have trouble understanding a native speaker at full speed, so I was hoping the subtitles would help me follow Yoel. Not so much though. :-( Mari, you have an amazingly natural sounding American English accent. I would have assumed you learned English here as a child except for the slight invasion of Spanish cadence when you got emotional after getting your K-1. Even so, it was barely audible.
My wife also came to America from Colombia about a year ago. If you guys are ever in Tampa (one of the oldest Cuban communities in the United States) I would love to show you guys around and take you guys out for a meal! Bienvenido! Mucho amor desde Tampa!

That's what I love about reaction videos from people in/from other countries. It gives us a fresh look at what we loved about America when we were children and too often got disillusioned about after we grew up. We shouldn't be complacent about all our good qualities as a nation, but we don't have to be cynical about our faults either, and seeing ourselves through the eyes of others is the best way to get reminded of that.
Everytime I turn on my water I feel so blessed. Even our poor is so much richer than others in other nations. I have some family members that hate America but they've in a nice @ss house and we're pissed when they couldn't find food during covid.. like you're pushing America to that becoming our normal!

It was a daunting task then what with all the paperwork, interview, medical exam, and costs - but yours was so much more complicated having to go to Guyana. Now I am a US dual citizen. It was worth it in the end to be with my husband. I wish you both a happy life and look forward to more videos. Welcome to the US Yoel! Blessings from NY.
Bienvenido mi jente, Al fin.
I'm glad to hear you've made it. Livertad!!🇺🇸🇨🇺

Welcome welcome!!! People here have been taking things for granted.
I am so, so happy for you.. When I see Americans hating on our country they should watch your videos.. Welcome to America, Perhaps you can show Americans how lucky we are to live here. Live well, love well, persue the American dream and don't forget to Thank the Lord.
I couldn’t understand half of the narrative because there were no English captions. It looks like a beautiful story! A movie of it would be amazing! Best wishes for a happy future. ❤️🙏✝️🇺🇸
AWE They Approved y'all on My Birthday! 🥺🥺 I found out I was pregnant with my Daughter! 🥰🥰
I’ve been following you guys on TikTok and I love all your content I just wish I understood what he was saying.
Subtitles
@@nlamorte90 subtitles were only available in Spanish for this video for some reason. English CC worked in her supermarket video so I dunno why. I also wish I could have understood. Forgotten all the Spanish I used to know. :(
Click on settings (the little gear icon) > Subtitles > Auto-translate
@@With-Jerry sadly didn't give me that option with my phone
@@With-Jerry Have you tried it? It creates nonsense 80% of the time

So happy for you guys!!! I’m a new follower. I would love to hear about how you guys met, how you learned English.
Again I’m so excited for you both!!!!
You came legally. I respect you both for that. I hope the American Life allows the Utmost Happiness. 🇺🇸👍🎉🎊
Aww, you both are such a beautiful couple. Wishing you many, many years of health, love and happiness 😊❤️

Welcome. You are exactly the people that make this country great. My great-grandparents were in your same shoes over 100 years ago. Welcome. And I wish you the best in beginning your family's new legacy.

I was born & raised on an island in Alaska and always heard stories of Cuba from the Cuban mom of my best friend for nearly 40 years now. To this day we refer to her as Madre and she has family still there. I'm so sorry I don't know more about your culture or the real situation for most Cubans but I'm so interested in everything I can understand on your UA-cam channel AND your tik tok account! I wish I spoke your native language but I'm catching a lot of it and hoping to understand more and more as I watch your videos. Thank you so much for the transparency and eye opening content. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR IMMIGRATION AND REUNION!!!
Prayers for you! I have Cuban exile in laws from castros era and they thrive in America...

Im finally watching your 1st videos after watching your newer videos for 6months. Your channel really touches my heart, reminds me to be grateful for this country and motivates me to fight back against the socialist communist movement attacking our country right now. Thank you for sharing your story. Communists fear the truth more than anything else so it's our greatest weapon against them as we fight to remain FREE!! God Bless You

Aweeeee I’m so happy for you guys!!!!
You are so quiet, I have yet to see the arms swinging and the loud voices that I am use to with my Cuban in-laws they are a hoot!
I wrote too soon I seen him talking with the hand. I so miss my Cuban husband. We were together for 25 years and he passed away in December of 2020. I will miss him for the rest of my life. He was so loud and smart. He had such a love of life. You are so blessed to have each other I will pray for you both to live a long happy life together.
My ❤️ and I just started the k1 process and knowing we are not the only ones really helps. We pray that the embassy en la habana actually progresses into opening and makes it a bit easier on us. We are holding on with so much faith and love. Thank you for reassuring us through our process.❤️
Yoel, from one immigrant to another, welcome and I am so proud to share our Latin roots and humble beginnings with an exemplary individual like yourself!! Legal or illegal immigration, we all face real struggles in our native countries and often here as well. But what matters is that as soon as we step foot in this country, we appreciate it and we set our minds to positively contribute to it. Love following your journey and I always knew I was lucky to live here but you made it even more palpable. So happy you can share in the joy with every one of us (natural-born citizens, immigrants, or whoever) who humbly appreciate being here and proudly serve this society ☺️😊❤️❤️
I know this is only the beginning for you and for your lives together!!✌️
I am uncertain that I am understanding all the details, however, I am really surprised at the length of time the entry process takes! I had no idea about that. And having to go to a third country, why is that? I did not understand the reasoning for that. I am as they say, “in the last quarter” of my life and I am feeling so excited, so hopeful for our country when I see young, determined, enthusiastic people such as yourselves grabbing hold onto our shared American dream! All the opportunities in the world are available to you here and I pray your life here, together, will be long and very, very happy!! Welcome friends, brother and sister, warm welcome to our American family, you bring us all courage, hope and more unique blessings. We are so very happy you came to be with us! ❤
Home Depottt yayyyy!!!! Muchas felicidades y bendiciones ❤️
My Spanish is VERY rusty but I am enjoying your videos as you both discover America. It warms my heart to see someone so excited about being here, especially these days. If ever in San Antonio, TX, search for me. You would be welcome in our home for your stay.
Thank you for sharing your journey, I wish some of my fellow Americans had as much pride in our country as the people who immigrate to our beautiful country. I hope one day Cuba will be freed from the shackles it has bonded by for far too long. I'm happy to greet you as fellow Americans and can not wait to see your continued journey in freedom.
Welcome to the US! I love your story. I'm so amazed by your videos and this story. You're both just so adorable. Thanks so much for all the things that you share. You really need to show the world how wonderful people are inside despite where we are from and what we may never have known we were missing. Bless you and your journey together. Mucho gusto y felicifadies.

Sweet story, but English sub-titles would have added greatly to my appreciation of this story. KUDOS to you both for doing it legally!!!
I don't understand Spanish, but I understood when Yoel lay down on the ground. I understood that and cried. Love to you. Be good citizens and grow and become US citizens!!!
