I seriously hope this is a VERY TEMPORARY TURN OF EVENTS. Let's be honest here. The 68s are slow, don't manage to keep time or pace with anything running today. I appreciate the NNTs because they don't pod along, are quick, and Will get you where you need to go in a decent frame of time. I understand that the needs for service, things like this can and Will happen every so often. Jamaica Shops has been running through equipment hard lately, reminds me of "the bad old days". However,as far as temporary fleets go, I would rather the R46 sub in,than Any R68s. Also, I'm under the impression that since the MTA announced new cars would be heading to the G over the course of the next few years, especially the R211Ts. The First Option order cars are trickling in,so it shouldn't be to long before Crosstown riders won't have to deal with "Hippos" ever again. (Slowly exhales with a Thank God).
@unbelievabler504 the R46 should sub in soon. They’re making sure that the equipment is approved for (G) service, but R160s still have to remain OOS thus bringing in non-active R68/As from inactive (B) & certain (D) trips until the R46s can be used as loaners, followed by the R160’s full return to the line as normal. I don’t know about the R211Ts yet but I heard they’d be on the line as well, so it should be in the near future.
@EnthusiastTheFanner Thanks for the feedback. I understand about the subs for the G, since it's version of CBTC is still a "future thing". Yet it is still sad to see the dedicated fleet of NTT cars get yanked from service, to accommodate the Queens Blvd CBTC situation. QB has EVERY single 5 car set, over 1000 railcars, and they HAD to take the Crosstown line's cars? They couldn't have borrowed the 179s from 207th? The G only uses 60 cars in service, for 5-8 minute headways! Why rob Peter to pay Paul? I'm gathering the surplus R46s ,kept on the sidelines, are covering the maintenance holes for the "Jamaica Yard staff" . I'm hearing that there are "a lot" of NTT cars are up on horses, some for SMS, and other for flats ,worn out parts. ENY takes good care of its 3 groups of NTT equipment. In any event,G crews and riders shouldn't have to be thrown under the bus. I rather have the R46 stand in for the new cars until they return. I REALLY don't like the 68,nor the 68a. So slow, they can't get out of their own way.
@@RascalTrainz there seems to be a problem on the tracks within the tunnels, so when trains did roundtrips on the (F) through there it messed with the train wheels
The R68/As will only be on there for a few more days (until the R46s get the clear to fill-in for the missing R160s on the (G), allowing the R68/As to be used for other services). However, this is for sure something worth going for while it's here!
@@Aleck-we6mf it normally is, and they technically aren’t. The R160s OOS are supposed to be replaced by R46s for the (G) line but they have to be ready so R68/As were used. When this was recorded & even right now one R160 is in (G) service.
Dayum. It feels like 2021 all over again. Welcome back to the (G) R68/As!
Frr, I remember it and the R46 F as well
A repeat in history when the G line was assigned to Coney Island Yard. Good times.
Something that is finally worth filming in the subways 🙏

The unscrollable D rollsign 💀
Woahhh this cool asf, never expected them to be back even after CBTC was being announced on Crosstown. Mind if I ask why they’re back on the G line?
heard the flat wheels on certain R160s were damaged and were taken triple O for repairs. probably caused by the new rails in the 63rd st line
The reason is in the description! :)
Apparently they’re using the B train R68/A is what I heard because the B don’t run on Weekends
I don't think they're back! If I'm waiting for a G train to ride pretty sure it's r160
