There is a problem with this. WoT is a niche game. A lot more people are playing Diablo, World of Warcraft, War zone, and many other games. The problem is that a niche audience has a limited number of whales 🐋. So, the game is curated for whales. Who are willing to spend money. Because a niche game will stop growing This game will never get fixed because it's not broken. Everything is as should be to make money 😂
Premium powercreep started with Scorpion G. Before that they where crew-trainer/money printers. But With Scorpion G the entire premium idea got changed.
I would say it started with Type 59 - this was the first major premium that was objectively better tech tree counterparts. It was literally a downtiered tier IX tank with the only worse stats being total HP and pen, which hardly mattered when you could meet tier V in this thing. Skorpion G marked the change of whole design philosophy, however. If memory serves me right, once WG limited MM to max +2, it was one of the first premiums with "normal" matchmaking - before that, all premiums were limited +1 matchmaking and had this "worse than fully upgraded, better than stock" philosophy to them. Skorpion G was one of the first designed to be equal to tech tree... Except it was actually better. Some might argue that Borsig could mount a 750 alpha gun... but ti did not make up for the massive mobility that Skorpion offers.

The things I remember was Fochgate over the Chrysler GF followed by the Defender. This was before the introduction of the Scorpion G. Not to mention the E25.

This has become the best WoT UA-cam channel I think. The combination of Humour, amazing editing, and excellent analysis is un-matched. They also have a great twitch channel.
I would say you forgot the hwk 30 / m41 90 in this list. Really nice alternative to play lts, and even if it doesn't have the stealth of an elc, nor the armour of an lt-432, the view range is really good, and the gun is pretty good so that you aren't totally useless on city maps (also the HE shells are so fun, even if not as op as the my man td).
I had one of my best games in the LT-432 on Himmelsdorf. That tank can play the scout, but it's mobility makes it the ultimate hit and run tank with that gun and able to exploit slower turning tanks and farm them. It's arguably one of the more OP lights given it's basically a faster medium.
I used to love my M4190 but lately I've just been getting bitchslapped by ELC90s and LT432s (Rasha Da Da) not to mention EBRs. It feels like it would be more of a medium with higher speed and worse armor since the current LT meta is so cancerous

I traded it for m4a1 revo ... but for now I regret it soo much that tank was frustrating for some point but in overall its good ... now i have the alpine tiger which is also good but 112 is so much better also for blocking mission ... (I had it from referral program) 😅
@@OchaFauzan01back then the 112 is so bad it usually get fires and the engine knocked out because for some reason the engine is in front of the tank. Pair that with its horrid armor and mobility, it was very hated by the community even though it had preferential match making. Most of my friends pretty much traded the tank when it was possible.

The Pz58 Mutz is also fun to play while being average: good movility, ok gun, HE has 90mm of pen, surprisingly it's armor can pull out some miracle bounces, specially the joint of the upper and lower plate since it has 200 mm and some people would aim at this central point to the tank and bounce. The FV4202 can also work although is not that special, but I still enjoy it
Also a small nod to the Pz58 Schmutz - its tank symbol (and name) is way higher up than on any tank, probably because of the model of its antenna. This can throw people off when you poke a ridgeline (especially through bushes), as they can aim above your tank at times, giving you some xtra time to react
Glad to see someone talking about Bisonte. I started to play it a bit more recently and sometimes it feels like people forgot it has an autoreloader. Out of the bond shop I would also say the Patriot. The armour can hold up and it has a good mobility for a heavy tank. At the same time, it has some obvious weakspots and the gun has low damage per shot so you have to think a little bit. Combined with it being one of the cheaper bond shop tanks on tier VIII and the low price for ammo it's a good tank for credit making, even though it's propably not as fun for everyone.
something WG already does in World of Warships is that they sell new premiums with the disclaimer that they are subject to change, which gives them a way out of the "lowering the value of a paid product i didn't consent to"
Please spread this Video in the whole wot community. Wot has so many problems that could be solved and we need to fix them. It would result in a so much better and more fun game.
I would say the community shares the blame. You can say dont buy all you want but there are some who dont care a will reward practices like lootbox tanks every year while calling you poor.
when it comes to the nerfing of premiums, theres also the legal standpoint of it because if someone buys a premium tank and it then gets nerfed, the company is opening themselves up to potential lawsuits, im not entirely sure of what law it is but its the "this isnt what i brought" so unless WG puts in some kind of warning/disclaimer that its stats might change in the future they could be placed in a situation that they could lose alot of money
My idea of balancing the game would be to buff most of the tech tree tier VIII tanks so they could compete with the premium ones, and make an option to convert them to premium tanks by using gold. That way wg could generate income and players who don't wanna pay could have a decent tier VIII tank.
It's an idea we have discussed in previous videos. Problem is that literally every tank in the game would need a rebalance at that point because of +2mm. Buff tier 8 tanks and tier 7 and 6 will suffer, and the list goes on.
Idea is good. But that would make the game even faster. Instead of 4min 15 to 5 it will become 2min 15 to 5 simulator. There are some premiums I would buy, but I will not because they are shit. Premium rebalanced is necessary. I once read info that some top clans aro pro rebalanced of chieftain and 279. They stated that to be competitive in cw those are the only options, and that is very bad. Only people who want to have op premiums are seal clubbers.
In console, we don't have the BZ, and double cannons (yet), but we have the Tier X SU 152 "Taran", with 303/395 of pen, and 950 of damage every 18 secs (base). Or the AVRE Centurión, also tier X, with that, no matter how much armour the enemie has, it causes damage or one hit kill in low tiers. The Iron Arnie is tier X with buffed canon, so it is balance.
I mean, I personally would suggest the old mutz 58. Thanks to intuition, this tank got indirectly buffed. I tend to use it as a hybrid between a light and a medium cuz it has good viewrange. It also has really good DPM if you know HE weakspots on mediums and or are able to flank the opponents. It requires a lot of work, but results may be satisfying.
Great analysis. I agree with you that the power creep is ruining the game experience for many average players. I also think the currently overpowered tanks need to be nerfed back so some of the old tanks can be more competitive. I've played the game since April 2011 and have way too many premium tanks in my garage, most of which I don't use. I stay away from tier 10 battles (even owning all but about 5 tier 10 tanks) because I just don't like the play style in the battles. If yo don't have all the field mods, a 7+ skill crew and all the boosters installed, then you cannot really compete on a consistent basis. Thanks for the suggestions, since I already have most of te tier 8 premiums you recommended, I'll have to get some of them out of the garage. I did use the Lorraine during the last Frontlines segment and it was surprisingly effective.
You missed the fv4202, the turret barely holds up when hull down and they even nerfed the sound effect for the gun (which now sounds like a tier 5 potato gun, i havent played it since finding that out) It needs buff, either to armour, dpm or at least the sound of the gun.
I have around 40 tier 8 premium tanks atm (lost track of it) but anyway i can't agree more with you guys, there are so many underrated premium tanks just because of tanks like bourrasque and BZ 176 etc. I have premium tanks that i didnt play for years because of this, i always loved to play the T34 for example but it just can't compete to the other power creeps these days. I rarely play T8 because of the ridiculous got to have meta tanks that plague the game. I completely agree with you guys on spending money in different areas of the game. Switching chat off in-game is free and makes the game less stressful too. Thank you for your epic, well thought through videos.
Thanks a lot for vids like this. I stopped playing Wot Xmas 2020. But still very much enjoy watching WoT content. And this video in particular sums up why i no longer play wot. I for one greatly appreciate all the hard work you guys put into this video.
Genuinely great vid that has seriously done well to express the various concerns of the overall playerbase. I have personally always been glued to playing the Strv S1, as I just love playing Swedish TDs, as the siege mode mechanic just does wonders for being about to control yourself in combat. Its such a shame though that the current meta and maps have been, not so kind, to my poor wedge. Edit: should mention that the UDES mechanically has some GLARING advantages, like the gun having vertical movement to peak over rocks, and its INSANE climbing ability that is just unrivaled.
The main issue is that now their is no chance to get into a match without prenium tank and they encourage more and more the use of gold round witch is for a free to play not possible in a longue term . If it keep goes on the difference between free to play , and spender is gonna be too big and make them leave the game
I shoot 95% gold and even with a premium tank and premium account, plus the consumables and directives, you cannot make money. I've had games where I lose 100k credits.

My-man I love the AEG talk show. However, i have to disagree on the part you said playing non-meta tanks just to send WG a message. We all know WG only care about P2W customer, and most of them like to crush the others with their op-meta tank. If you play non-meta tank, your are only serving these customer for WG by showing how OP the tank they bought. I think what we should do is to stop playing this game and let these P2W customers fight against each other, let them spamming gold to each others op-meta tank. Let them enjoy the sh*t show they made for their own. WG will perhaps do something right only when these P2W customers demand to have a balanced environment.
As a RU player, can I say something interesting from our side? Since Lesta isn't a direct WG's puppet, they are free to make the decisions they think that can make more interesting and healthier. And one of the very recent changes was a statement to the each and every premium tank in the shop, that reads: "Parameters of this vehicle may be changed without compensation". And what do you know - they actually started to balance old, outdated tanks and nerfed couple of their own creations, like the Object 156O, that got mobility nerf. Who knows. Maybe we'll get a better deals and actual nerfs soon. As of unique, niche tanks - AT15A was my go-to tank
I'm not going to lie, one of my favorite premiums to play is the Lowe. Yeah, it plays similarly to the Tiger II... But that's kind of what makes it so magical. The Lowe, being one of the oldest premiums in the game, has this stigma of incompetence surrounding it. It's kinda slow, it's been around forever, and people just don't play it very well. ... But that's what makes it so dangerous. People underestimate you so much in that thing and if you have a good crew, are a competent driver, and run a turbocharger, it is remarkably well handling and gets up a pretty good clip if you give it a sec. It also has I believe the highest penning gun on any tier eight heavy OTHER than the T34? Every time I play it I'm just giggling because you can really bully people if you play it well, up to and including tier tens at times because they just ignore you until you hit them again, and again, and again... And suddenly you've taken half their health and you're a real threat.
I totally agree with what you said in the video. What WG can do instead is just release a "Special mm or special game mod" where only premium and rewards tanks can play while for tech tree tanks you have random battles like now. That already brings balance to all tech tree tanks and can make balancing (buffing or nerfing) a lot easier than now.
You forgot IS-3A its one of the best tank for farming credits .. you have a standard round which have 1400 m/s velocity and a heat with 270mm of penetration . Its not OP but I kinda like it and people had opportunity to get that for 5k gold with a skin (peregrine)
my most played and my most favorite tank is STA-2 its super fun and not OP, but I have mastered that tank, I know how to play it and every game I play well with it and I am not even that good of a player and few months ago I got Viperia for trial, I was just clicking everyone and it was boring, it just shows that, people don't choose to learn something, most players don't have learning curve, they just want to click and do 800dmg in BZ, while u can get a lot of good games with BZ or other OP tanks, its just looks plain and boring, you just sitting like a zombie and clicking, I don't get how ppl not getting bored of that, then rather mastering something else that is unique and underrated like STA-2, it feels so rewarding doing that.
I only recently got curious about the state of this game, after not playing it for ages. Last time I seriously spent time in it was when the IS-4 became a tier X vehicle. I was an owner of the Type 59 for credit making purposes. It's insane to me how many different premium vehicles at tier 8 there are now, and it seems like they become obsolete very quickly. I am simply amazed that people still justify spending money on them, when the writing on the wall spells a stronger, more broken one relasing in a few months tops.
Gentlemen, please pay attention to the T34, the top speed (sustainable) was 25kmph, Tiger IIs top speed was 28kmph.... That's what HT used to be. In today's meta; if a HT is less than 45kmph; we feel the need to mount a turbo on it. How the game has changed
This unlocked some old lost memory of mine. Which im not sure if it's true or not but, i remember WG saying in the early days of WoT that premium vehicles would never be more powerful than tech tree ones.
When the SU-122-44 came out, people really talked about the DPM being kind of insane. In reality, it's the exact same as the SU-152, so there's no powercreep really.
I get what you want but the problem is that many tanks, especially in the past, were sold as finished products. If WG wants to nerf those they would have to offer the option of a refund towards all players who bought these under those conditions. World of Warships also found that out the hard way.
As an huge addicted fan of T103, I can confirm it is fun and nice still you need to know a thing or two with the tank to take it to full potential... ofc we also have the gold ammo pen, 307mm its noice :D
When I started playing this game in 2016, I only grinded heavy tanks and only played medium or light tanks from the bond shop... i regret that decision to only play hts because now that I want some good high tier lights, mediums and TDs, I have to play through current day tier 6, t7, t8, and t9 with stock tanks. its absolute hell.
As enjoyable premium I would add the M4Rev and the 122TM. There is something I simply like in those chonky med with lightning fast standard round and high alpha. The Rev is forced more on the sniper role by lack of armour and the pen is not what it used to be, but still fun. 122TM has some armour (with weakspots) to work with and high pen, so you're never really out of options, even as bottom tier.
WG shot themselves in the foot. I play WoTB on iPad, and WoT Console and I have definitely felt this change. On Console, I never touch tier 8-10 that's how bad its gotten. WoTB however has a problem not only with tier 8, but the tiers 8-10. For awhile I have stayed either at tier 8 or lower for fun tech-tree tanks. It has become sad with how money greedy WG has become.
I actually feel like a tier 7 in my T34 Imagine the original purpose being your turret is invincible except for the cupola and roof and then you get penned in your strongest spot anyway
If you consider the T34 an early premium tank I feel old... I had that thing as a tier 9 tech tree tank. But by the time the T34 became a premium tank the Type59 had already thoroughly ruined tier 8, with the only available tech tree medium tanks at the time being the T-44, Pershing and Panther II (later also the Lorraine 40t), with the T-44 and Pershing having trouble penetrating the Type59 from the front. Most premiums at the time were basically tier 7.5 tanks (KV5) or tier 8 tanks (Loewe) in terms of performance. The Type59 was a tier 8.5 tank that could not see tier 10 heavies (there were no tier 10 mediums or TDs at the time). The first real pay-to-win tank.
Use to be each premium tank had an unique strength and then a companion weakness all within the limitations of the tech tree and I have almost all of them.
It's hard to grind those tech trees when you keep fighting busted tanks like the BZ176, Skoda T56, and 122TM. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother. Finishing the Campaigns for a 279e is a pipe dream at this point for me.

An ingame training room would be great for testing out vehicles before buying them, I play wartgunder and that's how I decide if I'm getting something.
Also remember when WG releades the Panther 88 and tha Kanonanjagdpanzer 90 mm. They were so bad already back then, and you almost never see them in battle, not even in Frontline.
If you want to make a lot of credits, and have a decent time. The T26E5 is a great choice. It is an up armored M26 Pershing, that has T32 levels of turret armor, and decent front hull plate armor at bouncing angles. It has good pen on it's standard rounds, and they are dirt cheap at ~250 credits per shot. good accuracy, and reload to go with it. Though it has below average alpha with it's 90mm gun. It can definitely make a bunch of credits, even for non premium accounts.
A really informative and well made video guys One thing I would point out too, speaking of power creep and the current hulldown 3minutegame meta the mighty LOWE which is in really a weird and sad spot. The meta is about fast good hulldown tanks with either good dpm/alpha/gun handling. The Lowe has none of that, without turbo its the TOG of tier8, the alpha is okay but 11 seconds for reload time of 320 damage is laughable. I also noticed the non-cc-streamer RNG i have have the gun which is suposed to be 0.27 accurate but i cant hit fully aimed shots up to 200m, which happens every game. Situations like this, when I regret wasting money on something I didnt enjoy are unusual for me but this one with hurts me the most lol

something not mentioned is the console edition of world of tanks, while it is generally inferior in almost every way (except visuals, console looks pretty nice imo) it does have modern tanks in the game unlike PC. They released a tank called the armadillo, which was so outrageously overpowered that you would always see platoons of kill squad armadillos in every single game to the point where the gamemode straight up died until it was nerfed.
I would love if they add a Japanese T8 heavy premium tank like a mini version of the Type 5 or Type 4 Heavy. Maybe call it Type 3 heavy and give it the same playstile like the T9 and T10
I came back to wot about 2 months ago. After a 3 year break. (No real reason, just too many games I play regularly with so little time) I decided to come back and while yes I've had a lot of fun. But damn, I started at Tier 3 and worked my way up (rather than ruining a tier 10 game with my rusty play) I got Tier 8 without seeing a BZ. But my first game at Tier 8. In my trusty T34 I got smacked so hard by a BZ I honestly for a good minute or 2 thought that wot now suffered from cheaters somehow amping their damage up. It was only when I was dead and then spectating an allied BZ that I realised no... this is just what Tier 8's do now. Nearly made me just uninstall and go back to my other games

You are buying a license which stipulates you have access, among other terms, AND those terms are subject to the laws and courts from whence that license is purchased. In most jurisdictions, substantively changing the corresponding item in a negative or undesirable fashion that violates one of the advertised features of the originally licensed item can be considered a breach of their duty to meet certain consumer protection laws, AND can be construed as a breach of contract in very limited circumstances. I was there when the SP nerf occurred, and I was supporting the initial and serious talks of a class action against Wargaming. Wargaming did not cave because the userbase was mad, they caved because they were going to lose in court.
Here's the thing: if WG nerfs a premium tank - all the EU players that had purchased it are eligible for FULL REFUND (in money, not in gold!), that's how the EU law works. Which, btw, is great :)) Now imagine, that ex. BZ176 gets nerfed. Many players were gambling to get it with its specific stats - so the potential refund amount would be much higher than the theoretical cost of a single tank in the Premium Store. Sooo... not gonna happen. What can happen though would be to BUFF all the underdogs to match the OP premium tanks... yet somehow, as much as I know WG, I cannot see that coming :)))
also, levelling the strength between the premiums would also increase tank choice diversity in the matches making any tier more interesting especially t8
I still remember the Type-59 problem when it first started. And I think it requires some more context. Back in the day, matchmaking looked vastly different - it was actually +3 for normal tanks and +5 for scouts (because scouts ended on tier 5 back in the day). There was also this design philosophy that Premium Tanks were not strictly better than tech tree counterparts - they were better than stock config, worse than top config, and to compensate, they were also limited to +1 matchmaking only. So, thing like original T34 Heavy was not as good as tech tree counterpart due to abysmal reload and mobility, for example. And this is where Type-59 comes in - when it first appeared in game - it had mobility, armour and firepower of a top tier medium (mediums only went up to tier 9). It was literally a lower tier T-54, without any significant drawbacks beyond penetration - which hardly mattered due to its immense mobility. The mobility was so good in fact, that early servers could not keep up and at top speed this damnable thing would just teleport when spotted at long distances making it nearly impossible to hit due to server's low refresh rate. They were simply, demonstrably better than any non-premium medium tank at the time, which massively broke the meta and created a precedent in WG's design philosophy - because despite it being OP like hell and being objectively bad for the game, it showed WG that this thing sells like fresh buns. Now, if you have a good eye you may notice something. +3 matchmaking... Yes. You could meet this monster on tier 5. Imagine loading up the game in your fresh KV-1, only to be mercilessly murdered by a wolfpack of teleporting UFO tanks. Eventually Wargaming did away with the idea of +1 matchmaking - and newer premiums were all the same MM as normal - +2. This gave them the excuse to make them equal to tech tree tanks in stats, or actually better, just hiding the fact behind gimmicks or meaningless quirks.
It's been a long time since I have played world of tanks and watching your videos and livestreams have gotten me to wanting to play it again, but with the way it is now, I'm not sure how well I would do. It seemed like I would play for hours and barely get any headway in it so with how it is now I feel like it would be ridiculous to try.
I remember ages when there were constantly 4-5 Types 59 on each side. Sometimes it was 8-9, it felt hilarious and frustrating at the same time. I have a lots of t8 premiums and found out that C45 and AMBT are my favourites. They are not OP, with very solid, persistent and predictable gameplay and still offer some fun due to autoloaders. I believe that there might be a limit for gold shells, at least for premiums. Skoda, brsq, bz - will be still strong, but much more bearable to play against.
another feature that could be introduced into the game is the ability to make your favorite tier 5-9 tech-tree tanks, with the exception of artillery, premium. For example, my favorite tier 6 American heavy tank M6. I want to make it premium. Or the BEST tier 5 light tank VK 16.02 Leopard.
I would be all for WarRigging (I mean WarGaming) nerfing the BZ-176 by simply taking away it's derp gun and giving it a similar gun to what the tech tree line has. It can keep it's armor and mobility, but it gets crap gun handling, more reasonable alpha (400-440), and okay-ish pen values (similar to the tech tree line). They can literally just leave everything else on it alone. Or if you still think that's not enough, drop the whole of the turret roof down to 40mm so that 120mm guns can all overmatch it. Then it'll be a chew-toy for pretty much anything tier 9 and higher while still being a chew-toy for several tanks at tiers 6-8.
11:08 There was a lot of talking about that in the time of the Super Pershing nerf. I appears they can only do that if you buy the stuff for in-game currency. But they sell the good premium tanks for real money only, so…
T34 wasn't originally a premium tank it was the tier 9 heavy, the t30 then being the tier 10 heavy, the first premium tank was the m6a2e1, the others you mentioned came quite a bit later. The kv5 was one of the early premium tanks but came quite a bit later as I say but were initially driven around in reverse as the rear armour had less weak spots and light tanks only went to tier 5 and arty only went to tier 8 while mediums and td's went to tier 9, a thing I think they should have stuck with, and unless you aimed properly you would at the time still bounce off it's rear, plus they also rarely (if ever) saw tier 10 matches. Plus the lorraine 40t was originally a tier 9 medium which they then changed to bc25t ap.
I think they should add more premium tanks with Leopard 1 like characteristics. Good dpm, gun, mobility. No armor. I think good players would enjoy that. In general I enjoy the most the tanks that can hit their shots.
I don’t know if this is viable (or if players would even want it) but it’d be interesting if they added a toggle for premium/special vehicles. You can click a checkbox and you will be put into matchmaking with only tech tree tanks.
Something that is inexcusable was what they did to my beloved isu 152: "oh this bl-10 at t8 is overpowered, lets remove it". Only to release the isu 152-k with that exact gun, slightly nerfed mobility. Which clearly says " This tank is too good for you to have for free" i liked the trollcannon. would troll both sides plenty.
As a console player, some of the things mentioned don't apply to me (our devs aren't as scummy to do lootbox only tanks) but at the same time they are... very prolific at making premium tanks, to the point where I believe we have a lot more. They also do things differently, so the good old excuse of "we're a different game" as explanation why some change isn't coming... it suddenly goes away when a obviously OP tank is incoming, and "based on pc data" we get a nerfed version. The whole "can't nerf" lesson was learned the other way around with the Tiger 131: ours is a tier 7 with the short 88. Initially that was it. Lots of people complaining that it would be shit, no point in purchasing one... and devs fucked up the balance a couple of days before the sale! So we got a slightly better pen, great rate of fire and PMM. Since that began dominating tier 7, we don't get advance info about premiums, they just appear. And most importantly? They stopped listening to us. When the italian tanks arrived there was a bit of worry about the uh... eh, the op premium med. Unwarranted worry! We've since learned that if it's an auto reloader it will have very low dpm due to extra long loading. If I remember well, they nerfed a bit our Bisonte. For a while (not any more) the Halloween event was when we looked out for unusually good ones, because of the goofy 3d style was actually modeled armor. Want a tier 8 medium with a turret front that can potentially block Jageroo shells? Inferno Chimera, thanks to the lion head as spaced armor. Anyway as a collector I enjoy the variety, and as a weirdo I also enjoy tanks that aren't really appreciated. The E75 TS? I use the Hot Wheels version with unusual success. Bisonte? Can be good too, unless my team will sweep the other or fold too fast as dpm is really, really low. Also really if it has armor, I can make it work. Like the Mauerbrecher lol. My tank equivalent of comfort food is the Type 5, armor works and I can derp. Plus as I often use either tanks that are known to be bad, or bad enough to be rare, I get underestimated and or left alone while the scary stuff gets dealt with. Variety is good and fun :)
Forbidden Tank i would add to the recommand tonk to play if you like the playstyle: AMX CDC. Inexistant armour but great mobility and gun. Even if that the kind of tank who's deep underwater because of powercreep
My best winning rate on Tier 8 Prems anda also one of the most profitable: T103 (70% on 900+ battle) I don't know why, but for me T103 has amazing gun I have (collecting) almost all of the tier 8 meta/competitive prems with average winning rate of 46% (except Progeto 46 at 65%) If you are F2P player, get the T103 with bonds. It is worth it Sorry for my bad English, I'm drunk...

Premium powercreep started with Scorpion G. Before that they where crew-trainer/money printers. But With Scorpion G the entire premium idea got changed.
I would say it started with Type 59 - this was the first major premium that was objectively better tech tree counterparts. It was literally a downtiered tier IX tank with the only worse stats being total HP and pen, which hardly mattered when you could meet tier V in this thing.
Skorpion G marked the change of whole design philosophy, however. If memory serves me right, once WG limited MM to max +2, it was one of the first premiums with "normal" matchmaking - before that, all premiums were limited +1 matchmaking and had this "worse than fully upgraded, better than stock" philosophy to them.
Skorpion G was one of the first designed to be equal to tech tree... Except it was actually better. Some might argue that Borsig could mount a 750 alpha gun... but ti did not make up for the massive mobility that Skorpion offers.

I would say you forgot the hwk 30 / m41 90 in this list. Really nice alternative to play lts, and even if it doesn't have the stealth of an elc, nor the armour of an lt-432, the view range is really good, and the gun is pretty good so that you aren't totally useless on city maps (also the HE shells are so fun, even if not as op as the my man td).

I had one of my best games in the LT-432 on Himmelsdorf. That tank can play the scout, but it's mobility makes it the ultimate hit and run tank with that gun and able to exploit slower turning tanks and farm them. It's arguably one of the more OP lights given it's basically a faster medium.
I used to love my M4190 but lately I've just been getting bitchslapped by ELC90s and LT432s (Rasha Da Da) not to mention EBRs. It feels like it would be more of a medium with higher speed and worse armor since the current LT meta is so cancerous

Pair that with its horrid armor and mobility, it was very hated by the community even though it had preferential match making. Most of my friends pretty much traded the tank when it was possible.

The Pz58 Mutz is also fun to play while being average: good movility, ok gun, HE has 90mm of pen, surprisingly it's armor can pull out some miracle bounces, specially the joint of the upper and lower plate since it has 200 mm and some people would aim at this central point to the tank and bounce.
The FV4202 can also work although is not that special, but I still enjoy it

Also a small nod to the Pz58 Schmutz - its tank symbol (and name) is way higher up than on any tank, probably because of the model of its antenna.
This can throw people off when you poke a ridgeline (especially through bushes), as they can aim above your tank at times, giving you some xtra time to react

Glad to see someone talking about Bisonte. I started to play it a bit more recently and sometimes it feels like people forgot it has an autoreloader.
Out of the bond shop I would also say the Patriot. The armour can hold up and it has a good mobility for a heavy tank. At the same time, it has some obvious weakspots and the gun has low damage per shot so you have to think a little bit. Combined with it being one of the cheaper bond shop tanks on tier VIII and the low price for ammo it's a good tank for credit making, even though it's propably not as fun for everyone.
something WG already does in World of Warships is that they sell new premiums with the disclaimer that they are subject to change, which gives them a way out of the "lowering the value of a paid product i didn't consent to"

I would say the community shares the blame. You can say dont buy all you want but there are some who dont care a will reward practices like lootbox tanks every year while calling you poor.
when it comes to the nerfing of premiums, theres also the legal standpoint of it because if someone buys a premium tank and it then gets nerfed, the company is opening themselves up to potential lawsuits, im not entirely sure of what law it is but its the "this isnt what i brought" so unless WG puts in some kind of warning/disclaimer that its stats might change in the future they could be placed in a situation that they could lose alot of money
WG doesn't supercede EU and US law.
My idea of balancing the game would be to buff most of the tech tree tier VIII tanks so they could compete with the premium ones, and make an option to convert them to premium tanks by using gold. That way wg could generate income and players who don't wanna pay could have a decent tier VIII tank.
It's an idea we have discussed in previous videos. Problem is that literally every tank in the game would need a rebalance at that point because of +2mm. Buff tier 8 tanks and tier 7 and 6 will suffer, and the list goes on.

Idea is good. But that would make the game even faster. Instead of 4min 15 to 5 it will become 2min 15 to 5 simulator. There are some premiums I would buy, but I will not because they are shit. Premium rebalanced is necessary. I once read info that some top clans aro pro rebalanced of chieftain and 279. They stated that to be competitive in cw those are the only options, and that is very bad. Only people who want to have op premiums are seal clubbers.

In console, we don't have the BZ, and double cannons (yet), but we have the Tier X SU 152 "Taran", with 303/395 of pen, and 950 of damage every 18 secs (base). Or the AVRE Centurión, also tier X, with that, no matter how much armour the enemie has, it causes damage or one hit kill in low tiers. The Iron Arnie is tier X with buffed canon, so it is balance.
The sole fact that the armor of a MEDIUM T8 holds at T10 without buffs is amazingly dumb

I mean, I personally would suggest the old mutz 58. Thanks to intuition, this tank got indirectly buffed. I tend to use it as a hybrid between a light and a medium cuz it has good viewrange. It also has really good DPM if you know HE weakspots on mediums and or are able to flank the opponents. It requires a lot of work, but results may be satisfying.
Great analysis. I agree with you that the power creep is ruining the game experience for many average players. I also think the currently overpowered tanks need to be nerfed back so some of the old tanks can be more competitive. I've played the game since April 2011 and have way too many premium tanks in my garage, most of which I don't use. I stay away from tier 10 battles (even owning all but about 5 tier 10 tanks) because I just don't like the play style in the battles. If yo don't have all the field mods, a 7+ skill crew and all the boosters installed, then you cannot really compete on a consistent basis. Thanks for the suggestions, since I already have most of te tier 8 premiums you recommended, I'll have to get some of them out of the garage. I did use the Lorraine during the last Frontlines segment and it was surprisingly effective.
You missed the fv4202, the turret barely holds up when hull down and they even nerfed the sound effect for the gun (which now sounds like a tier 5 potato gun, i havent played it since finding that out) It needs buff, either to armour, dpm or at least the sound of the gun.
If I were to make it playable: .5sec less reload - Add 20mm to its forehead - and improved its terrible gun handling by at least 15%

I have around 40 tier 8 premium tanks atm (lost track of it) but anyway i can't agree more with you guys, there are so many underrated premium tanks just because of tanks like bourrasque and BZ 176 etc. I have premium tanks that i didnt play for years because of this, i always loved to play the T34 for example but it just can't compete to the other power creeps these days. I have personally always been glued to playing the Strv S1, as I just love playing Swedish TDs, as the siege mode mechanic just does wonders for being about to control yourself in combat.
Its such a shame though that the current meta and maps have been, not so kind, to my poor wedge.
Edit: should mention that the UDES mechanically has some GLARING advantages, like the gun having vertical movement to peak over rocks, and its INSANE climbing ability that is just unrivaled.
The main issue is that now their is no chance to get into a match without prenium tank and they encourage more and more the use of gold round witch is for a free to play not possible in a longue term . If it keep goes on the difference between free to play , and spender is gonna be too big and make them leave the game
I shoot 95% gold and even with a premium tank and premium account, plus the consumables and directives, you cannot make money. I've had games where I lose 100k credits.

However, i have to disagree on the part you said playing non-meta tanks just to send WG a message.
We all know WG only care about P2W customer, and most of them like to crush the others with their op-meta tank. If you play non-meta tank, your are only serving these customer for WG by showing how OP the tank they bought.
I think what we should do is to stop playing this game and let these P2W customers fight against each other, let them spamming gold to each others op-meta tank. Let them enjoy the sh*t show they made for their own.
WG will perhaps do something right only when these P2W customers demand to have a balanced environment.

Since Lesta isn't a direct WG's puppet, they are free to make the decisions they think that can make more interesting and healthier.
And one of the very recent changes was a statement to the each and every premium tank in the shop, that reads: "Parameters of this vehicle may be changed without compensation". And what do you know - they actually started to balance old, outdated tanks and nerfed couple of their own creations, like the Object 156O, that got mobility nerf.
Who knows. Maybe we'll get a better deals and actual nerfs soon.

I'm not going to lie, one of my favorite premiums to play is the Lowe. Yeah, it plays similarly to the Tiger II... But that's kind of what makes it so magical. The Lowe, being one of the oldest premiums in the game, has this stigma of incompetence surrounding it. It's kinda slow, it's been around forever, and people just don't play it very well.
... But that's what makes it so dangerous. People underestimate you so much in that thing and if you have a good crew, are a competent driver, and run a turbocharger, it is remarkably well handling and gets up a pretty good clip if you give it a sec. It also has I believe the highest penning gun on any tier eight heavy OTHER than the T34?
Every time I play it I'm just giggling because you can really bully people if you play it well, up to and including tier tens at times because they just ignore you until you hit them again, and again, and again... And suddenly you've taken half their health and you're a real threat.
I totally agree with what you said in the video. What WG can do instead is just release a "Special mm or special game mod" where only premium and rewards tanks can play while for tech tree tanks you have random battles like now. That already brings balance to all tech tree tanks and can make balancing (buffing or nerfing) a lot easier than now.

You forgot IS-3A its one of the best tank for farming credits .. you have a standard round which have 1400 m/s velocity and a heat with 270mm of penetration . Its not OP but I kinda like it and people had opportunity to get that for 5k gold with a skin (peregrine)
my most played and my most favorite tank is STA-2 its super fun and not OP, but I have mastered that tank, I know how to play it and every game I play well with it and I am not even that good of a player and few months ago I got Viperia for trial, I was just clicking everyone and it was boring, it just shows that, people don't choose to learn something, most players don't have learning curve, they just want to click and do 800dmg in BZ, while u can get a lot of good games with BZ or other OP tanks, its just looks plain and boring, you just sitting like a zombie and clicking, I don't get how ppl not getting bored of that, then rather mastering something else that is unique and underrated like STA-2, it feels so rewarding doing that.

I only recently got curious about the state of this game, after not playing it for ages. Last time I seriously spent time in it was when the IS-4 became a tier X vehicle. I was an owner of the Type 59 for credit making purposes. It's insane to me how many different premium vehicles at tier 8 there are now, and it seems like they become obsolete very quickly. I am simply amazed that people still justify spending money on them, when the writing on the wall spells a stronger, more broken one relasing in a few months tops.
Gentlemen, please pay attention to the T34, the top speed (sustainable) was 25kmph, Tiger IIs top speed was 28kmph.... That's what HT used to be. In today's meta; if a HT is less than 45kmph; we feel the need to mount a turbo on it. How the game has changed

When the SU-122-44 came out, people really talked about the DPM being kind of insane. In reality, it's the exact same as the SU-152, so there's no powercreep really.
I get what you want but the problem is that many tanks, especially in the past, were sold as finished products.
If WG wants to nerf those they would have to offer the option of a refund towards all players who bought these under those conditions.
World of Warships also found that out the hard way.

I enjoyed the FCM 50t. Heavy that hauled ass. It had an underperforming gun, but it was just fun to play.
When I started playing this game in 2016, I only grinded heavy tanks and only played medium or light tanks from the bond shop... i regret that decision to only play hts because now that I want some good high tier lights, mediums and TDs, I have to play through current day tier 6, t7, t8, and t9 with stock tanks. its absolute hell.
As enjoyable premium I would add the M4Rev and the 122TM.
There is something I simply like in those chonky med with lightning fast standard round and high alpha. The Rev is forced more on the sniper role by lack of armour and the pen is not what it used to be, but still fun.
122TM has some armour (with weakspots) to work with and high pen, so you're never really out of options, even as bottom tier.
The 122tm is indeed good. Actually close to too good.

WG shot themselves in the foot. I play WoTB on iPad, and WoT Console and I have definitely felt this change. On Console, I never touch tier 8-10 that's how bad its gotten. WoTB however has a problem not only with tier 8, but the tiers 8-10. For awhile I have stayed either at tier 8 or lower for fun tech-tree tanks. It has become sad with how money greedy WG has become.

If you consider the T34 an early premium tank I feel old... I had that thing as a tier 9 tech tree tank. But by the time the T34 became a premium tank the Type59 had already thoroughly ruined tier 8, with the only available tech tree medium tanks at the time being the T-44, Pershing and Panther II (later also the Lorraine 40t), with the T-44 and Pershing having trouble penetrating the Type59 from the front. Most premiums at the time were basically tier 7.5 tanks (KV5) or tier 8 tanks (Loewe) in terms of performance. The Type59 was a tier 8.5 tank that could not see tier 10 heavies (there were no tier 10 mediums or TDs at the time). The first real pay-to-win tank.

Use to be each premium tank had an unique strength and then a companion weakness all within the limitations of the tech tree and I have almost all of them.
It's hard to grind those tech trees when you keep fighting busted tanks like the BZ176, Skoda T56, and 122TM. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother. Finishing the Campaigns for a 279e is a pipe dream at this point for me.

The most fun and balanced tier 8 premium I have ever played was the M4A1 revalorise. Laser accurate gun that hits hard. But with a tier 5 Sherman hull
i would reccomend škoda t 27 too, it has little bit worse gun handlening, no armor, but i still like it because of the unique 1,8 sec intra clip
An ingame training room would be great for testing out vehicles before buying them, I play wartgunder and that's how I decide if I'm getting something.
Oh wow. I miss Port! Had some truly epic games there with my first premium tanks (IS-6 memories!)
As a War Thunder player, its absolutely wild to see how different the approach to balancing is in WoT.
Also remember when WG releades the Panther 88 and tha Kanonanjagdpanzer 90 mm. They were so bad already back then, and you almost never see them in battle, not even in Frontline.
If you want to make a lot of credits, and have a decent time. The T26E5 is a great choice. It is an up armored M26 Pershing, that has T32 levels of turret armor, and decent front hull plate armor at bouncing angles. It has good pen on it's standard rounds, and they are dirt cheap at ~250 credits per shot. good accuracy, and reload to go with it. Though it has below average alpha with it's 90mm gun. It can definitely make a bunch of credits, even for non premium accounts.

One thing I would point out too, speaking of power creep and the current hulldown 3minutegame meta the mighty LOWE which is in really a weird and sad spot. The meta is about fast good hulldown tanks with either good dpm/alpha/gun handling. The Lowe has none of that, without turbo its the TOG of tier8, the alpha is okay but 11 seconds for reload time of 320 damage is laughable. I also noticed the non-cc-streamer RNG i have have the gun which is suposed to be 0.27 accurate but i cant hit fully aimed shots up to 200m, which happens every game.
Situations like this, when I regret wasting money on something I didnt enjoy are unusual for me but this one with hurts me the most lol

something not mentioned is the console edition of world of tanks, while it is generally inferior in almost every way (except visuals, console looks pretty nice imo) it does have modern tanks in the game unlike PC.
They released a tank called the armadillo, which was so outrageously overpowered that you would always see platoons of kill squad armadillos in every single game to the point where the gamemode straight up died until it was nerfed.
I would love if they add a Japanese T8 heavy premium tank like a mini version of the Type 5 or Type 4 Heavy. Maybe call it Type 3 heavy and give it the same playstile like the T9 and T10
I think one of the other big problems is that the tech tree tanks in general are just... bad. They rely on gimmicks to attract players.
I came back to wot about 2 months ago. After a 3 year break. (No real reason, just too many games I play regularly with so little time)
I decided to come back and while yes I've had a lot of fun. But damn, I started at Tier 3 and worked my way up (rather than ruining a tier 10 game with my rusty play)
I got Tier 8 without seeing a BZ. But my first game at Tier 8. In my trusty T34 I got smacked so hard by a BZ I honestly for a good minute or 2 thought that wot now suffered from cheaters somehow amping their damage up. It was only when I was dead and then spectating an allied BZ that I realised no... this is just what Tier 8's do now. Nearly made me just uninstall and go back to my other games

Yes and no. Mostly no. You are not buying access. You are buying a license which stipulates you have access, among other terms, AND those terms are subject to the laws and courts from whence that license is purchased. In most jurisdictions, substantively changing the corresponding item in a negative or undesirable fashion that violates one of the advertised features of the originally licensed item can be considered a breach of their duty to meet certain consumer protection laws, AND can be construed as a breach of contract in very limited circumstances. I was there when the SP nerf occurred, and I was supporting the initial and serious talks of a class action against Wargaming. Wargaming did not cave because the userbase was mad, they caved because they were going to lose in court.
Here's the thing: if WG nerfs a premium tank - all the EU players that had purchased it are eligible for FULL REFUND (in money, not in gold!), that's how the EU law works. Which, btw, is great :)) Now imagine, that ex. BZ176 gets nerfed. Many players were gambling to get it with its specific stats - so the potential refund amount would be much higher than the theoretical cost of a single tank in the Premium Store. Sooo... not gonna happen. What can happen though would be to BUFF all the underdogs to match the OP premium tanks... yet somehow, as much as I know WG, I cannot see that coming :)))
also, levelling the strength between the premiums would also increase tank choice diversity in the matches making any tier more interesting especially t8
I still remember the Type-59 problem when it first started.
And I think it requires some more context.
Back in the day, matchmaking looked vastly different - it was actually +3 for normal tanks and +5 for scouts (because scouts ended on tier 5 back in the day).
There was also this design philosophy that Premium Tanks were not strictly better than tech tree counterparts - they were better than stock config, worse than top config, and to compensate, they were also limited to +1 matchmaking only.
So, thing like original T34 Heavy was not as good as tech tree counterpart due to abysmal reload and mobility, for example.
And this is where Type-59 comes in - when it first appeared in game - it had mobility, armour and firepower of a top tier medium (mediums only went up to tier 9). It was literally a lower tier T-54, without any significant drawbacks beyond penetration - which hardly mattered due to its immense mobility.
The mobility was so good in fact, that early servers could not keep up and at top speed this damnable thing would just teleport when spotted at long distances making it nearly impossible to hit due to server's low refresh rate.
They were simply, demonstrably better than any non-premium medium tank at the time, which massively broke the meta and created a precedent in WG's design philosophy - because despite it being OP like hell and being objectively bad for the game, it showed WG that this thing sells like fresh buns.
Now, if you have a good eye you may notice something. +3 matchmaking... Yes. You could meet this monster on tier 5. Imagine loading up the game in your fresh KV-1, only to be mercilessly murdered by a wolfpack of teleporting UFO tanks.
Eventually Wargaming did away with the idea of +1 matchmaking - and newer premiums were all the same MM as normal - +2. This gave them the excuse to make them equal to tech tree tanks in stats, or actually better, just hiding the fact behind gimmicks or meaningless quirks.
It's been a long time since I have played world of tanks and watching your videos and livestreams have gotten me to wanting to play it again, but with the way it is now, I'm not sure how well I would do. It seemed like I would play for hours and barely get any headway in it so with how it is now I feel like it would be ridiculous to try.
totally agree with you - love the game, but i really want to see a healthy re-balancing like in other MMOs.
I remember ages when there were constantly 4-5 Types 59 on each side. Sometimes it was 8-9, it felt hilarious and frustrating at the same time.
I have a lots of t8 premiums and found out that C45 and AMBT are my favourites. They are not OP, with very solid, persistent and predictable gameplay and still offer some fun due to autoloaders.
I believe that there might be a limit for gold shells, at least for premiums. Skoda, brsq, bz - will be still strong, but much more bearable to play against.
another feature that could be introduced into the game is the ability to make your favorite tier 5-9 tech-tree tanks, with the exception of artillery, premium. For example, my favorite tier 6 American heavy tank M6. I want to make it premium. Or the BEST tier 5 light tank VK 16.02 Leopard.
I would be all for WarRigging (I mean WarGaming) nerfing the BZ-176 by simply taking away it's derp gun and giving it a similar gun to what the tech tree line has. It can keep it's armor and mobility, but it gets crap gun handling, more reasonable alpha (400-440), and okay-ish pen values (similar to the tech tree line). They can literally just leave everything else on it alone. Or if you still think that's not enough, drop the whole of the turret roof down to 40mm so that 120mm guns can all overmatch it. Then it'll be a chew-toy for pretty much anything tier 9 and higher while still being a chew-toy for several tanks at tiers 6-8.
11:08 There was a lot of talking about that in the time of the Super Pershing nerf. I appears they can only do that if you buy the stuff for in-game currency. But they sell the good premium tanks for real money only, so…
They can do changes with anything in the game. It is their decision to not do it.
T34 wasn't originally a premium tank it was the tier 9 heavy, the t30 then being the tier 10 heavy, the first premium tank was the m6a2e1, the others you mentioned came quite a bit later. The kv5 was one of the early premium tanks but came quite a bit later as I say but were initially driven around in reverse as the rear armour had less weak spots and light tanks only went to tier 5 and arty only went to tier 8 while mediums and td's went to tier 9, a thing I think they should have stuck with, and unless you aimed properly you would at the time still bounce off it's rear, plus they also rarely (if ever) saw tier 10 matches.
Plus the lorraine 40t was originally a tier 9 medium which they then changed to bc25t ap.
I think they should add more premium tanks with Leopard 1 like characteristics. Good dpm, gun, mobility. No armor. I think good players would enjoy that.
In general I enjoy the most the tanks that can hit their shots.
I don’t know if this is viable (or if players would even want it) but it’d be interesting if they added a toggle for premium/special vehicles.
You can click a checkbox and you will be put into matchmaking with only tech tree tanks.
Something that is inexcusable was what they did to my beloved isu 152: "oh this bl-10 at t8 is overpowered, lets remove it".
Only to release the isu 152-k with that exact gun, slightly nerfed mobility.
Which clearly says " This tank is too good for you to have for free"

I'm not a super active nor a very good player, but I've been around since 2013-2014 and I completely agree.
As a console player, some of the things mentioned don't apply to me (our devs aren't as scummy to do lootbox only tanks) but at the same time they are... very prolific at making premium tanks, to the point where I believe we have a lot more. They also do things differently, so the good old excuse of "we're a different game" as explanation why some change isn't coming... it suddenly goes away when a obviously OP tank is incoming, and "based on pc data" we get a nerfed version. The whole "can't nerf" lesson was learned the other way around with the Tiger 131: ours is a tier 7 with the short 88. Initially that was it. Lots of people complaining that it would be shit, no point in purchasing one... and devs fucked up the balance a couple of days before the sale! So we got a slightly better pen, great rate of fire and PMM. Since that began dominating tier 7, we don't get advance info about premiums, they just appear. And most importantly? They stopped listening to us. When the italian tanks arrived there was a bit of worry about the uh... eh, the op premium med. Unwarranted worry! We've since learned that if it's an auto reloader it will have very low dpm due to extra long loading. If I remember well, they nerfed a bit our Bisonte. For a while (not any more) the Halloween event was when we looked out for unusually good ones, because of the goofy 3d style was actually modeled armor. Want a tier 8 medium with a turret front that can potentially block Jageroo shells? Inferno Chimera, thanks to the lion head as spaced armor.
Anyway as a collector I enjoy the variety, and as a weirdo I also enjoy tanks that aren't really appreciated. The E75 TS? I use the Hot Wheels version with unusual success. Bisonte? Can be good too, unless my team will sweep the other or fold too fast as dpm is really, really low. Also really if it has armor, I can make it work. Like the Mauerbrecher lol. My tank equivalent of comfort food is the Type 5, armor works and I can derp. Plus as I often use either tanks that are known to be bad, or bad enough to be rare, I get underestimated and or left alone while the scary stuff gets dealt with.
Variety is good and fun :)
Forbidden Tank i would add to the recommand tonk to play if you like the playstyle: AMX CDC. Inexistant armour but great mobility and gun. Even if that the kind of tank who's deep underwater because of powercreep
My best winning rate on Tier 8 Prems anda also one of the most profitable: T103 (70% on 900+ battle)
I don't know why, but for me T103 has amazing gun
I have (collecting) almost all of the tier 8 meta/competitive prems with average winning rate of 46% (except Progeto 46 at 65%)
If you are F2P player, get the T103 with bonds. It is worth it
