My number one complaint is that Epic still has no gift cards for games. I can buy vbucks, I dont play Fortnite, so that is useless to me. I have been using Epic launcher as my primary launcher for a few years now. Still they have no store gift cards to buy games with. Until they start offering more like gift cards I'm probably going to go back to steam as my primary until they have more content surrounding the launcher.
I have a lot of free games on Epic that I haven't even played. If I really like a game I'm more likely already bought it on Steam before it's free on Epic. This is the catch as since I have money to spend on games I will likely already bought it on Steam but if someone is short of cash they will benefit the most from free Epic games. This sometimes happen on gamepass also where a game eventually made it to gamepass I've already bought. Exclusives are less common on consoles (except for Nintendo) due to the cost of games so I think Epic got into the "exclusive" strategy way too late.

Funny thing is that even "Xbox Game Pass" launcher for Windows is better than Epic launcher. Epic Launcher is the slowest and most useless launcher for PC perhaps. It doesn't help that Epic only care about people who is almost blind. Damn their store and library icons is huge.. lol
Yes the free games are a great way to get new people on the platform, it's just not a great way to get them to buy other things when there is a constant supply of decent games for completely free.
I've said it in the past and I'll say it again, If EGS stops giving away free games they're dead. Other than the current Fortnite players, I doubt many people are launching up the website/app other then to get the free games. If they stop, their numbers will plummet and they won't be able to lure indie game developer to the platform.
I also think that lawsuit is BS. EPIC knew! They had to have known that 30% cut and then they acted like a Dark Knight and demanded gamers to join them. It's so.... Cringy.
The exclusivity is annoying but if they don't do it noone will even look at egs bruh and if they stop the free games it's done egs is wiped off the market, the store is nice but I think they have to improve one the ui and stuff
@@spiritupgrades most likely so - but simply out of curiosity - if I for some reason I want to check some game that they've given away I don't need to buy it or expect it to have a demo. But anyway - 99% of the games they have given, have been something I would have skipped in Steam or GOG.
I have accumulated a nice little library with Epic. I have bought a couple of games, but their games seems to always have high prices. I have no issues with their site. I don't care at all about a "community" and I prefer single-player games. I have a family, and I occasionally need to stop what I'm doing to take care of a family issue, which I suspect could make you wildly hated in online multiplayer games. I also buy games on GOG as well as Steam. I have no emotions about any of the platforms. I am surprised so many people do.
Steams needs a rival, but EPIC is not it, so many comments on how its not improving. Why would you switch from Steam to EPIC if there is no reason? Free games are nice, but trying to buy my interest just tastes bad. Exclusives are just a BAD idea, consoles have proven that it's just bragging rights for children. Make your product better, don't just keep giving me the carrot.I have all the free games, even bought some that first Christmas they had some unreal deals (which have never come again, to be fair these deals were not sustainable). I have not played a free game I picked up, or played a game on Epic since Phenoix Point came out.
the free games are not really losing epic that much money. in my opinion what they need to do to appeal to the PC users would be to definitely stop the exclusive agreements because they cost too much money and give them bad PR. they need to do more publishing and funding of games like Alan Wake 2 and The Wolf Among Us 2. they have absolutely got to buff their user experience and user interface of their platform with all the features that steam has. basically what I'm trying to say is that the launcher competition that goes on PC is similar to streaming service competition and I think that EGS needs to approach their launcher as if they were a streaming service trying to compete with other streaming services. that's really how they'll separate themselves and become a Powerhouse that people will want to celebrate
Everyone thought publishing games was their primary plan. Still, they did a 180 & did the exclusive route & whenever Tim Sweeney said anything on Twatter, it's similar to spitting in everyone's mouth. Revolting & is just bad manners from a CEO, no less. If you want Epic to improve, taking away Tim's account on Twatter is a good step.
I don't think fortnite is what's propping up epic games to be fair. It's obviously unreal engine and the mega bucks they make from all games produced using their engines and technologies.
Sorry I don't get the hate. EGS pretty much got me out of piracy habits because even when things aren't going well I have a backlog of free games to play. I've bought a couple of games on discount and while I still think GOG is the way to go I wish they figure out how to be more competitive.
man I know you have a playstation deals channel and you pander to sony ponnies over there but stop trying to make console wars a thing on the pc front, no one I know cares about epic failing or succeding anymore.
Epic is overhated. I like the games they give, im playing them. I haven't bought anything but in the future i might. Although that will take a while cause there are a lot of games i haven't finished. Of course giving free games isn't sustainable. At some point they will stop giving free games. Or do it less often. They will add features as years pass. I already consider epic to be the second biggest platform after steam. Long term i think they will become a real competitor.
My good, sir, they don't help themselves look good; they do more harm than steam could ever do. Heck, recently, the CEO of Epic tried to shill his engine to the devs who are using Unity after the mess with the Unity owners had made. However, you can't just port everything you have made from unity to unreal. It just doesn't work like that easy, if only. Coding is not a fun activity on most days, which can lead to a lot of stress and a high chance of caffeine addiction. Then you get this man who isn't in anyone's best interest trying to poach & make a profit out of this mess. It doesn't show much goodwill now, does it?
EGS is so faceless - no comments, no discussions, no community - I would like to see more competition to Steam, I buy from GOG, but I wouldn't buy games from EGS as it feels like it is not going anywhere. @@spiritupgrades yes they have

Me: Doee it matter? Fortnite profits are up 400% over last year.
Tim of Epic games was terrible to Pc fans. Self destruction from the start. Lol
😋mmm yum. Thanks for the free games, never made a purchase and never will. I'll stay getting freebies while enjoying your downfall. RIP Bozos. ⛽🚬
I've taken all the freebie games except one or two that I missed from the very start - haven't played a single one :D
@@322ss Why, what's the point of having it if they're going to be all taken away when the site is dead?
I am surprised so many people do.
ue5 still being in development is a loss of revenue for them
Developing a game engine stop never.
Chinese. Nuff said.
😂😂😂😂😂 so battle ground game PUG to should sue epic for stilling the code from their game what does epic have to said about that
I gladly take all the free games Epic GS offeres, but I will never give them a single cent until they quit with the anti consumer bullshite.
Never used EGS steam is king
the free games are not really losing epic that much money. in my opinion what they need to do to appeal to the PC users would be to definitely stop the exclusive agreements because they cost too much money and give them bad PR.
they need to do more publishing and funding of games like Alan Wake 2 and The Wolf Among Us 2.
they have absolutely got to buff their user experience and user interface of their platform with all the features that steam has.
basically what I'm trying to say is that the launcher competition that goes on PC is similar to streaming service competition and I think that EGS needs to approach their launcher as if they were a streaming service trying to compete with other streaming services. that's really how they'll separate themselves and become a Powerhouse that people will want to celebrate
What an EPIC fail 😂
Sorry I don't get the hate. EGS pretty much got me out of piracy habits because even when things aren't going well I have a backlog of free games to play. I've bought a couple of games on discount and while I still think GOG is the way to go I wish they figure out how to be more competitive.
How can they be losing money? I buy all my free games from them.
Good for the free games
1st
man I know you have a playstation deals channel and you pander to sony ponnies over there but stop trying to make console wars a thing on the pc front, no one I know cares about epic failing or succeding anymore.
I love EGS. Only place I buy games because they are trying something no one else is.
Which is what?
@@spiritupgrades well i just hope they change and become real competition
"The Verge"... are you seriously taking tech information from them? really? let me show you this computer building video from them.
