Caltrain’s EMU sets, built by Stadler Rail, left the Salt Lake City facility on Friday, August 19th. They are being delivered to Caltrain to replace their current fleet. I was able to catch up to the delivery train on Saturday, August 20th. The first location was taken in Benecia, followed by Berkeley.

@@oaksub510 Thanks!!!!!
In no way is this a bad thing but stadler trains make me think of the Lego trains.
I can see it
Wow! Nice catch of the Caltrain over the viaduct!
Thanks! Have you seen them in person yet?
@@oaksub510 No. I have been to LA and San Diego recently but not San Fran so I wasn’t able to see them yet
Wow. Beautiful trains. Looks like what I see in Europe.
Who makes them?
@@oaksub510 Beats me.
@@oaksub510 Stadler
@@StefanWithTrains Thank you
@@oaksub510 Trains made by Stadler are all over Europe.
Great catches! Sure will miss the old Caltrain once these emus take over
Love these shots! Can't wait for these babies to whisk me from Diridon to SF
Thanks! Have you seen them in person yet?
@@oaksub510 I've seen one in the yard near Diridon once! But I haven't seen one up close yet
Awesome catch
Spectacular video! Wow! Wow!
Thanks so much!
Wow.. this is absolutely beautiful
Thank you so much!
Awesome catch!
Thank you!
@@oaksub510 You’re welcome!
Really good catch!.. nice
Thank you! Have you seen them in person yet?
Oh yeah, it's all coming together!
Have you seen the new trains in person yet?
@@oaksub510 I saw the first one (the one with both sets of doors) in person at the TTC while I was there for an unrelated project. I'm a big fan of KISS units from my time in Switzerland and I can't wait for service to start in the Bay Area. I love the classic F40s as much as the next railfan, but I think Caltrain riders are due for a much-needed 21st century update in comfort and ride quality.
Great video Max!
Thanks! Were you able to catch the delivery train?
For anyone who's curious, the scientific name for the emu is _Dromaius novaehollandiae,_ and it is the second-tallest living bird after its ratite relative the ostrich.
Dude we’re not talking abt an emu bird, we’re talking abt a train called the emu, which stands for Electric Multiple Unit.
@@Ferromexfan4081 I would have known that if I had graduated from Eastern Michigan University, which by the way has an eagle mascot named Swoop.
Excellent video and I can see a version for them suited for the Electrified commuter rail in the Northeastern United States because some of them have low level platforms level platforms that require passengers who are using Strollers and wheelchairs to use the nearest station that has a high level platform Because stations that have no level platforms cannot board them. Therefore 2nd door is used to board them then the interior lift is used to bring those to high level platform doors seen at New York and Newark Penn stations 30th street Philadelphia. Examples are SEPTA Doylestown NJ Transit Short Hills South Orange Hoboken division Morris and Essex lines Newark Division lines Little Silver and Jersey Avenue.
Oh God I hope not
@@mistercaltrain9738 For what reason why they are not suited in the northeast? Stadler can make these KISS EMU the same height as a LIRR C3 NJ Transit MARC Double Deckers SEPTA CRRC Sifang Quingdao Double Decker coaches
@@EpicThe112 the coaches on the northeast commuter trains are called multilevel coach maded by bombardier
so shiny
I seen that at night too bad I didn't catch it
The next delivery train is on the way.
@@oaksub510 nice 👍. Is there a way that I could track it or find out when it will come.
How do you get to that spot
Did they come down the Ace / Amtrak corridor to San Jose? How did you know about these movements?
The delivery train took the Martinez and Coast subdivisions.
Nice
Thank you! Have you seen them in person yet?
@@oaksub510 yes on 8/13/22 when passing 4th and King but I didn't have a footage of it
I'm surprised two whole sets were brought as a special movement, but you don't want kids to tag them before they get to the property.
Yeah, it also helps not to crash them into something in the yard.
Amtrak should replace the Superliners with Stadler rolling stock, the Siemens plant is over capacity with Airos
How is the Siemens plant over capacity?
@@oaksub510 They are at capacity with the Charger/Venture finishing the Midwest, Brightline, California, VIA Rail, Cascades and don't have the capacity to ramp up production of the Airos which will continue to max out their production til the later 2020's
There building another Plant in North Carolina
@@JermaniBurroughs True. This will help a good bit.
Awesome video! I have always wanted to catch the EMU's being delivered through my home town of Berkeley. Im just wondering, how did you know that the EMU's were coming?
The next EMU set left Salt Lake City today and is on its way.
@@oaksub510 Ok cool, thanks!
@@oaksub510 Any Idea when it will be in the Bay Area?
@@speedytrain9306 Very soon.
@@oaksub510 Like in an hour?
What camera and lenses did you use? Those shots look awesome!
Thanks so much! I use my iPhone and color grade the footage in post-production.
cheeetoooooos
Endlich mal vernünftige Züge in den USA.
Relatively sustainable, yeah.
@@oaksub510 at least they look much more friendly than your typical raw stainless steel trains.
@@PuNicAdbo But do they function as well as the heavy rail trains we currently have is the question.
US trains look better than ugly european ones, plus you know this isnt the first electric train in the US
I still cannot believe they are throwing out the old trainsets. Electric locomotives were an option.
Most of the fleet is pretty worn out.
Øk öåkšúb
The pyramids of Egypt look in better shape than that bridge.
Luckily most of it looks like surface rust.
When I was younger, I had an old picture book from Trains magazine which had a shot of an early UP Streamliner crossing that then-new bridge over the Carquinez Strait.
