So... scrolling through the comments it seems that people don't know about the novel this series is based of, so I decided to provide y'all some information. First, THIS IS NOT COPYING THE ANIME!!!! THERE ARE TONS OF ADAPTATIONS OF THE SAME BOOK SERIES, DUNNO WHY PEOPLE ARE SAYING THIS. With that said, let's move on, so... this animated series will have 52 episodes of 11 minutes each, I don't think they will follow an actual plot, just a few references of the novel and older adaptations, as it seems to be targeting a younger audience (I don't really mind that, I really enjoy kids cartoons, even when they aren't very deep like Gravity Falls, Steven Universe and others) and probably the adventures between Arrietty and, in this case, Tom. It wasn't cancelled, but the website just says it's under development. (⚠Spoilers of the books) 👇 The book starts with Mrs. May telling a story her brother (who died in a war) told her a long time ago, to young Kate. Telling her about a young borrower (tiny little people who are about... 5 or 6 inches/12 centimetres tall that "borrow" things from human "beans") called Arrietty who lives with her mother Homily and her father Pod, who is getting old and can't do all the borrowing on his own so he takes Arrietty out of their "hole" (they live on the floor, underneath a clock, don't know exactly how to call it) to help him and teach her what to do, the problem is that Arrietty ends up meeting a 9 year-old human boy (they don't give him a name, he is always referred as "the boy", to keep him mysterious), he comes from India and moved to England to recover from rheumatic fever. They don't start of with the right foot, they have lots of prejudices about each other they need to overcome, but end up becoming friends when the boy discovers whereabouts the borrowers live and starts bringing them things from the doll house, that is until Mrs. D finds out making the family "emigrate" and then, the boy never heard about them anymore. (That's how the book 1 ends, I know, kinda meeeh) But hey! There's book 2, 3, 4 and 5! (The first one is my favorite) Anyway... so... the book 2 starts with the family emigrating, they find a boot, then they meet Spiller, then a gypsy finds them and kidnaps then,, but Spiller is there to save the day, so he asks Tom (a 12 year old human bean) to help, so he does, and then he disappears, we almost never hear from Tom again, except at the end. The book series kinda loses quality, I dunno, just don't like the rest very much, don't even remember what happens very well.

Are there seriously people who think this started with the Ghibli film? My first introduction was the '97 film which was advertised as being based on the book series. After that, I gradually discovered some earlier television adaptations. Then there was the Ghibli film, and the the 2011 live-action movie.
