Time to head back to Worthing. The challenge of taking them up multiple divisions while restricted by budgets forcing you back to the original true Moneyball theory is the way forward
@@gamestellstories Oh yeah, i hear you. I think if you go one more level up, take on a true giant club in europe maybe, then head back down, that would be cool.
@@gamestellstories If you do change clubs or move away from the moneyball approach with a big club could you give a summary of the reasoning just so that we can follow the story/plotline? I just want to make sure I'm rooting for the right thing :p
@@gamestellstories Moneyball at the top level would be a interesting challenge. Rule 1 even more difficult, finding opportunities to develop youth while maintaining top level performances. Striking that balance of keeping some peak players for stability (and level) but still making room for developing players beside them...in all positions. Real challenge might be to stay competitive over time as the squad needs to be rebuilt. Personally I think transforming Everton into a big club would be a more interesting project but that's just me.
I would have pulled the trigger on Matthew Taylor, looks a great HC for this style of save, lets see what Clarke can do though with the players you've given him I guess. I would have also taken a serious look at Leverkusen or Berlin though as there's a load of money in Germany, great wonderkids an a bostin challenge beating the top 2
@@gamestellstories And If you go back to Worthing you have to get your old assistant back haha. What’s he up to now? Let us know next episode if possible. 😉
Just finished binging the entire playlist and have enjoyed it a lot. Regarding AC. More direct play is what we expected when getting back in the prem. I'm not convinced this young team has the quality to outplay the top opponents. Keep in mind these are moneyball players, good bargains that haven't reached their peak, so by definition they aren't the best in the world...yet. I think AC has proven his worth and we'd be unfair to expect more with this group of players. If I'm wrong it would be nice to see a comparison between these players and the others in the league/champions league. Regarding the price of scouting targets. I noticed it first with Worthing when you first got a transfer budget. I believe there is a price limit in the scout searches that is automatically set to your entire transfer budget. You should be able to lower this and get more bargain suggestions from the scouts instead of them pointing to players that empty the coffers. (That is assuming the bargain prospects exist.) Sadly it does feel like the series is drifting away from moneyball though and towards big money signings. Personally I prefer the moneyball approach but can see why going for glory might be more appealing content. P.s. Could you record your narration in a more dimly lit room? The white office with the bright lights is a big contrast to the game when editing between the two.
Thanks so much for watching, and that's fantastic feedback on the office setting, I'll see what I can do. Totally agree about the signings becoming more typical, it's definitely feeling like I'm in more standard spending territory now so I'll check that tip for limiting the price range, that could help enormously.
Looks like the transition from Rising Star Moneyball to Rising Superstar Moneyball is in progress. Am assuming this will be a multi-season project and well worth watching. I get the itchy feet thing but the next move (if not staying at Everton) has to be one of the big boys: Man C, Man U, Bayern, Real, Juve ... OR a team you could promote to BiG Boy status: Arsenal, Ajax, Newcastle, Atletico, Borussia, Inter, Milan, Monaco etc. I've left out PSG and Barca due to their dysfunctional reliance on buying established superstars. Man C might be going down the same route. Borussia and Ajax look like natural homes. South America: Estudiantes (Arg), Penerol, River, Independiante, Santos, Colo Colo ... Yep, throwing in the South Americans. Champions League or Copa Libertadores domination - the choice is yours. South America is challenging as UEFA, and increasingly MLS, farms the South Americans as cheap fodder. Moneyball as an apex predator is easier but it would be interesting to see if Moneyball works in an apex prey environment. As for your assistant manager, "In Clake We Trust" until we don't. All the best.
Excellent tips for potential next steps. Hadn't considered South America but you're spot on - I'm getting so many of my squad from there it would be fascinating to see if I could compete there too.
Feel like you’ve drifted more towards standard fm gameplay recently with all the players signed under the age profile, and with a large majority of them being wonderkids it takes away from the significance each transfer window used to have as even if you don’t sign incredible players now, your wonderkids will be developing, obviously it’s hard to avoid as you improve, but for your next job maybe introduce a ruling of only x amount of under 22yo players that aren’t from the academy? Would potentially add the significance back to the transfer windows, either way an incredible job
@@gamestellstories @Games Tell Stories also would make you only sign those under the age bracket if youre 100% sure theyre going to develop incredibly well and be a star player, similar to how Ben has came through and been the star attacking outlet, makes everything seem just a bit more crucial!
@@RachelWilliamsFanAccount to be fairly though, the reason I've had to stretch to a few 19 year olds is because the mid 20 somethings are so overpriced! So still moneyball, just not strictly as originally intended...
Some of the 19 year olds had a couple of years of first team experience and were good enough to join the first team so I'd say good moneyball buys. The reason the lower age limit is 20 is because we want players with proven first team experience so exceptions can be made...as long as we're not paying a premium for potential. Edit: Writing in first person as if we are all playing this together. That's a testiment to the quality of the series.
You shoud check if Antony Clark is a legend at Everton , That wage to turnover screen is the equivalent of a moneyball A++, If you going to change Antony Clark stay at least 2 season more to give the other man a chance , Dang 55 million pounds I hope you sell him for at least 100. @@gamestellstories I feel like I'm missing something. Why are you thinking of replacing Tony? And why make a 55 million pound signing? Isn't Anthony Clarke still getting everything out of the team that we can expect? Maybe I just don't know what you are expecting from him or why. How is the big signing a moneyball signing?
@@fannartful Regarding AC, I'm wondering if the style of play is limiting our progress. Also, his attributes have declined so there are now better options (on paper) out there. However, I'm sticking with him. He's earned the chance to go for a title push. With the goalkeeper signing, yes it's big money but his value has already skyrocketed and we will make a big profit in future if we sell him on. I needed to move on the 30 year old keeper and he was the best option for consistency, big matches and ability/potential. Worst case scenario is he sticks around for a few years and the spend is amortised over that period. £6m a season for a top goalkeeper we don't need to replace is good moneyball business. Also, improving the weakest area of the team first is a key moneyball principle, and now we're set in goal for a good few years.
@@gamestellstories Good point with the gk being a long term signing. I have a CRUCIAL consideration this year. Should we get a new AM? Is Antony Clarke reaching the end of the line? Let me know below...
Antony Clark must be at least an icon at Everton now but his reign must end if he cannot make a final with this squad you’ve built
