I'm so sad that Mick passed away. He was one if my favorites with his funky jumpers, crazy hair floating in the wind, and his speech.

It makes me a little bit proud to support Time Team on Patron as that is the only channel I support (and I don't support many) where my membership actually contributes to actual knowledge being gained about history. I share that feeling being a patron on Patreon for two years now. Becoming an archaeologist was my childhood dream. It turned out differently, but through my support for Time Team I can still contribute and at least be a small part of the whole.
It's a rare instance of really feeling like I'm contributing to something.

Time Team is the one and only show that gets any of my money. I'm very proud to be a Patreon subscriber to Time Team. I feel like these people are in actuality close friends of mine. I even get choked up thinking about the late Mick Aston and Victor Ambrus. I'm really looking forward to what the show has to offer in this new year.
...and now we just need Phil to come on by for a visit (even if its just to say hello to the fans), and the circle will be complete.
Those who have departed will always be with us in spirit, Mick must be chuffed he always wanted the "people" to be involved and it was those people that brought this wonderful show back.

As an American, I've only recently discovered Time Team - just the latest example of the wonderful pieces of British television I've been missing out on. Thank you so much for making so many episodes available here on UA-cam and feeding my obsession with British history!
Just want to say that I still like those sketches on the back of an envelope from 30 years ago. Mick did great sketches - always illustrated the point perfectly. The fancy, modern stuff is great, too, but I still thoroughly enjoy the old programmes.

This video feels like a warm hug. That might sound a bit daft, but Time Team has always been a great favourite of mine. I re-watch on UA-cam when I'm in need of something that is both interesting and relaxing. I'm happy to pay my monthly two penn'orth so that you can carry on making these wonderful programmes and reveal more of the past to us.

I recently found out about time team a month or two ago, I love watching all your old episodes and look forward to seeing your new ones. I from the United States and I am definitely a fan of every one on your team both past and present. Preservation and conservation of history is very important to our culture and world community.
I really enjoyed Victor Ambrus' sketches on bits of paper! He was amazing! With all you've got planned, I'm happy to support you on Patreon this year. I've been watching Time Team since the mid 1990s. It makes me sad I didn't follow a spark I had as a kid when i found a native American grinding stone in southern Arizona that gave me a huge thrill.

Always love seeing the comments from new viewers to time team that weren't lucky enough to see it on channel 4 bitd, actually a bit jealous they're getting to discover it from new, before the patreon started i always wished it was back on again, its definitely a sort of comfort blanket for me reminds me of growing up and tuning in, it looks like the new version is getting stronger and is here to stay, something the past cast members im sure would be incredibly proud of, I'd just like to personally thank every fan that's made this all happen and i hope the fan power keeps it going for many years to come 🙌🙌🙌

I've been watching since I was a baby, time team and I are both turning 30 this year. Really can't wait to see the Sutton Hoo Boat content, and of course, this year's new digs!

What I miss a little watching some very early episodes from the 90ies is the Pub-Scenes, they were just better than "situation rooms" and so on - there are still pubs in the UK aren't there? They were so relateable and insightful.
Love this programme, pleased to be watching the newer ones but I miss Tony and his energetic commentary! Thank you guys for bringing this back.

Tony, a senior, gives the show energy, the new host(s) put me to sleep. I let my membership expire but i will renew it this year.
I loved Tony but I also love Gus; he has a different vibe, but he’s just as engaging.
@@michellerenner6880 I hope more people give Gus time to put his own stamp on Time Team. The naysayers should watch the really early episodes from the 1990s to get an idea of how long it took the main characters to come to the fore. Tony was, and is, brilliant but you can see how hard he's having to work during the first few seasons to make the programmes entertaining. If Gus could host a few more digs every year I think viewers would warm to him more. Assuming his academic commitments allow of course.
@@kevinjohnbetts Nothing against Gus, but Tony was an outsider asking the questions. Gus is part of that world and maintains a low-key vibe with the archaeologists. There needs to be that contrast IMO.

The new digital tech for 3D models is great but I do miss Victors drawings. There was something so creative and beautiful and human about them that even the best 3D model can’t capture.

I think you should make another proposal to the BBC to revive time team on terrestrial TV. We launched fee so surely we should have a say what they make. They can’t turn down a recognised & successful program about British history surely? I’d love to see TT back on mainstream TV.
(It was originally on Channel 4, not BBC.) It seems that being independent means that they can adapt and do whatever feels right, and respond to what the viewers actually want, rather than being beholden to the whims of TV executives and having to make terrible changes in return for being allowed to continue.
I would love to see it on our TV screens again too, but so much in the process of making TV has changed since the original TT. And for me one thing that makes this so special is it's driven by experts who truly know what they're doing, without interference from 'higher-ups' who only care about ratings rather than the actual archaeology. If they were hypothetically to be taken on by a TV company I think we'd lose an awful lot, quite possibly in terms of quality and most likely much of the extra material we get outside of the main dig programmes.
I joined Time Team on Patreon as soon as the revival of the programme was mooted, and have continued to be a subscriber, receiving regular email reports - so it is a bit frustrating that this doesn't seem to be acknowledged, even on this page now - which is again asking me to subscribe. Nevertheless, as a former archaeologist myself (New Zealand), I have been binge watching old and new episodes on You Tube and loving them, my fingers twitching to have a trowel in my hand and join in!

Real shame none of the main TV channels don’t want to take the show on & put it back on our screens, think if none of the UK channels want to do it you should take it to someone like the Discovery Channel, Nat Geo or History Channel one of those would definitely sign you guys up, the demand is there & thousands of people watch the episodes you put on here, think you should give them a try & see what they say.
Digging for Britain is a good descendant of TT. I like how they survey several projects each episode. I think the modern audience prefers that. Having TT on Patreon-funding is great since they can stretch out a bit more. They do need to work on the sound quality a bit, though. Not as polished sounding as the TV studios can do.
The trouble with the channels you mentioned, is that none of them are free, all being part of subscription packages....

Missing Tony. The academic who's doing the intros is too much onside with the other academics. You need someone to picture what an ordinary person would have thought and done back in the day. And take the piss out of the Dr,s every time they say 'ritual' because they don t understand

I have watched "Time Team"', ever since day 1, here in Canada it played every week on TVOntario, then as t.T. got more and more popular, I got to watch you all on other channels, I did not enjoy the merican version, to much starch in their britches.
