Stylishly yours,

Bad behavior and negative comments say more about the other person than you. Sometimes color and strange combinations just pop out of me. Brings me joy. Not too sure what others are saying, but I know when I am being a bad ass dresser!
Love a little BA--ery, Valerie! At any age!
I like the idea of “Did you just say…” I’ve not noticed people criticizing me, but people often criticize others in conversations with me. I never want to degrade anyone, but people assume I will agree with them. Now I have a suitable response.
My other go-to when others criticise someone else in my presence (or a group) is "Interesting, that's not been my experience with XYZ at all!"
Liz, I loved this video. I have had some really nasty comments about my attire on my videos lately so this was a great reminder not to take them to heart. I usually don't anyway, just laugh, especially as these people are usually anonymous keyboard warriors. People can be so nasty but you're right that you should just express yourself and your style in your own way, and not worry about what anyone else has to say. I loved the quote, and I agree with that as well. Thank you so much for sharing this, and for your constant, amazing style inspiration and advice.
Thank you, Carol! I've never heard the term "keyboard warriors". It's much more polite than what I'd call them... But I prefer to keep my channel G-rated.
I loved the jacket when I saw just a couple seconds of it in an older video of yours. I thought you had made a video of how you had done the up-cycle and went hunting to no avail.
I think you’re so right in saying that, as we get older, we are much stronger in our ability to let such rude comments roll off our shoulders. Shame on them and good on you for holding your tongue and rising above the moment. ❤️
@@closetplayimage Lol. I agree.
Comments are never about the person receiving the comment and are always about the person making it. I love you in denim, especially that wash, because it really suits your colouring. Well done you for taking the time and making the effort to up-cycle - you did a fabulous job (crafter commenting from her perspective 😂)
Thank you, Dijana! I’m not much of a crafter, but decided that this project was worth it, flaws and all.
Some people dress to blend in and others dress to stand out. I like your jacket. My town has a procession for Our Lady of Guadalupe in December - you should come and rock it.
That sounds amazing, Mary! I bet that procession is ALL kinds of fun!
Love that jacket! I clicked because it reminded me of one I modified too! 😎 Thrifted denim jackets are one of my favorite things to paint on ❤
Oooh, Lisa! That sounds lovely! Do you have any images on social media to see?
@@closetplayimage thanks for your reply! ❤ Sadly, I don't. I deleted Instagram and Facebook years ago for mental health reasons 😅 But rest assured that I'm out here, wearing and appreciating colorful & loud painted denim jackets too 💪😎
@@lisasoto3425 I certainly understand that! (I only got onto social media when I founded my business.)
Perfect response!
I couldn’t wait to listen to this video!!😂
Glad to make you happy, Beth! (I’m sure you’ve had your fair share of comments, both positive and some less than.)
Yes I have received some “sartorial comments” and sadly they were all from my mother and started right from the age where I began wearing what I wanted and not what she had decreed. And by what I wanted I mean that I still had to choose from the clothes she was providing for me as I wasn’t yet old enough to have a job and buy my own clothes.
Hence I am now 57 and watching channels like yours to try and find out do I even have a style? After a lifetime of trying to blend in I don’t even know where to start.
PS I have just found your channel after you were mentioned in a video by The Stylish Maker’s channel.
@@nataliemarshall7158 Oh, Natalie! I’m sorry that you were on the receiving end of sartorial snark. It can be hard to get those voices out of your head! You have a style; it just needs some room to breathe and spread its wings. Style is a journey, not a destination, so please be kind to your self and enjoy the trip!
@ 🥺 thank you for your beautiful words, and it just goes to show how deeply those words from my mother wounded because I have tears streaming down my face that a stranger can be so kind and encouraging.
My style needing room to breathe and find its wings is the perfect way to put it. It’s not nonexistent it’s just buried under some old scars.
Thank you again for taking the time to reply and share your kindness ❤️❤️❤️
Would you be open to doing a video explaining how you did your jean jacket upcycle? I think it's great because it expresses YOU and your interests, creativity, resourcefulness, and skill. Good video. People need to get back to the Golden Rule.
Great idea! Thank you!
“Let’s get back to the golden rule” is another good response.
