I knew I liked you Katie. I learned about fried bologma sandwiches when I was 8 years old. I always have chow-chow(spicy)with it or bananna peppers. Always a good sear on the bottom. Like visiting an old friend!!!.
@@blueorangeblossom I agree and I think the construction of that sandwich is all wrong. It needs a condiment under the turkey like mayo or something and I'd ditch the apple for cheese or tomato. The roof of my mouth hurts just looking at that over-toasted bun.
My absolute favorite sandwich is a Reuben. But a very close second is a well made BLT. Third, but only by a hair is am excellent grilled cheese. If served with tomato soup, the grilled cheese rises to second place. When i was a teenager i worked at a small town local meat market. Home grown hogs, butchered locally, and smoked right there. And i got an employee discount! So that bacon, a vine ripe tomato from the garden, some loose leaf lettuce from the same garden, on toasted bread with some miracle whip. Best damn BLT ever. What made it so great was the meaty bacon, the sweet and juicy tomato, and the fresh lettuce. You just can't beat quality ingredients. It makes me sad you cannot buy a good tomato in a store, you absolutely have to grow your own. If you've never eaten a truly vine ripened tomato, you don't know what you are missing.
Whole Foods sells heirloom tomatoes that come close. People that say they don’t like tomatoes have never tasted one straight from the garden. Where I live they sell homegrown Creole tomatoes that are sublime. I just started adding a bit of BBQ sauce to my BLT sandwiches and boy does it make a difference. Just that little bit of sweet smokiness adds so much. Can’t disagree about the Rueben!
@@susantaulli6580 Yes indeed. A ripe tomato you pick yourself, gently wash in the sink. You can eat these like an apple, and they taste so good you'll eat the whole thing. Most store tomatoes are picked green, injected with red dye, and they sold to grocery stores. Those are NOT ripe tomatoes. And even if you let them sit in a windowsill for a few days in the sun, they get better, but it's just not the same as ripening on the vine. Farmers markets or growing your own are your only really viable options if you want a truly good tomato.
I loved Alex's turkey sandwich. I will roast a chicken thigh or breast with K-Paul's blackened redfish seasoning and put it on a bun with coleslaw and some slices of green apple. Tyler's steak sandwich is definitely and upgrade to the traditional Philly cheesesteak with a spicy mornay sauce. Thank you #FoodNetwork social media for a perfect compilation with summer just around the corner.
@@deniset8380 Usually any tart apple will work. Here, in North America they are called Granny Smith 🍏. This sandwich has hot/spicy, cool & creamy, and the tart apple completes a multi layered flavour profile.

@@blueorangeblossom Ina's chicken club looks so much better
Nice today years old on homemade pastrami 😅
me too! I've been cooking a very long time, and somehow thought Pastrami was too intimidating! I'll be trying it for sure.
The Kitchen! Yaaay! I love that damn show! It's 5 o'clock somewhere! Lol 😋
omg I forgot about Guy's original show w/ that ridiculous set :D so funny
Looks delicious I'm trying this recipe for mother day
Want to know how it turns out please
Suggestion for The Kitchen, please make a Stuffed episode! Like putting eggs in peppers etc. Thanks!

5:22 Cutting a sandwich like that is culinary heresy 😅
Katie that’s how we make our bologna sandwiches in Maryland without the chow chow and no mayonnaise.
What type pickles-shake shack, Ina-dill or bread andbuttee?
A philosopher’s favorite sandwich is a Philly-osophy

Internal temp of 110 to 115? That’s going to be raw af. Medium is 140-150.
