It’s hard to mix while listening to tutorials, but this more realistic to my needs , I have exactly this a bad drum recording with 40% spill from guitar amps, I’m holding off using trigger 2 because of all the work involved, but I may have no options left , but when it starts to get into gated reverbs my capacity drops out ,
I would strongly suggest to NOT move the snare drum to align phase/time with the OH but move the OH instead. Else the BD and TOM bleed will most likely flam(un-align) with the close mics on toms and BD.
Yes sir.. I saw that video too. I don't agree 100% with it. I've seen/heard issues. Especially because the close mics are closer to each other (most often), so the phase issues are low or fixable with a simple reverse phase. But the overhead is often kind of in between close and far mics (ambient mics), which makes them prone to phasing with the close mics if you don't move Alle close mics at the same time.. or just move the overheads. for instance when editing drum takes, you might need to punch in right before or after a Tom hit and the bleed of that will be cut of or moved if you only move the OH. hmm.. don't know if that explanation was clear ;-)
Nice work … good to see someone working on real life sounding drums instead of the usual UA-cam Hollywood sounding drums 😀
Right, thanks! it always feels like the drums on UA-cam sound so perfect.
Agreed
this channel should be bigger

Super helpful guide! I'll fight anyone who doesn't agree that Nickelback has some of the best sounding rock and metal mixes
Haha! Thanks man!
Great mix! Good technique, I’m still trying to find that “perfect” mix myself. A lot of good info thank you! You got my sub! 😎🤘🏽
Hey Frank! thanks man! I really appreciate it.
Nice video thanks for posting
Thanks man

I can give it a shot. If you watch the produce like a pro channel that’s one of the places I’ve seen it done like I described in this video.
Also, I added out the Tom bleed, and sometimes I phase align the to with the overhead
