Kevin samples his own kit. He changes mic positions, dampening, heads, etc. in order to get different sounds. So I doubt you can dig around to find licensed samples. He makes just about every sound on his own and then puts it all together. This album was probably the first time kevin primarily sampled drums throughout the album. He’d done it before on innerspeaker and lonerism but those albums had a more live feel and sound. Currents and the slow rush feature much more produced and manipulated drum samples and programming. You can play the parts live and they sound great but the sampled kit lends his 3rd and 4th album that different sound that fits the music he is now doing more. His first two albums have wide open toms that ring for example, whereas the latter 3rd and 4th albums have dampened toms or completely dead 70s style toms with no ring at all. His live drum kits also feature triggers that play back samples now too. I saw him do lonerism in its entirety at desert daze and he used a vistalite kit with triggers to play back the drum samples from lonerism. His vistalite kit sounded exactly like his vintage kit from lonerism thanks to those samples while the live sound and feel came from the sound of the vistalite kit. The blend of sampled vintage kit from lonerism for tonal flavor and vistalite kit for live sound and stage volume came together very well. It was impressive af. Lot of fancy stuff going on. Kevin parker has really learned to make lonerism sound better than ever live over time. I know I went on a tangent but there’s a lot going on his drum sounds and anyone who says otherwise just hasn’t dug into this rabbit hole 😂
MAANN THIS IS PERFECTLY ISOLATED WHY ISNT THIS VIRAL
Aronou but thanks

can you do this for the synths?
Does anyone know what kick drum sample is being used at 5:06 and forward? it's so powerful
I don’t think Kevin uses samples… maybe just for the low end, I’m pretty sure the click of the kick is from his drum set
