    I'm 5 minutes in and feel totally validated. Qt going to therapy is very apparent in her communication here. i have chronic depression, too, and I've struggled to hear someone else articulate the feelings I have as someone with depression. It happens, it's just a different brain soup than other brain soups, and we can't change it. Just gotta let the right person, who loves our kinda soup, arrive if they do. And keep our brain soup from burning us too bad lmao

    • @luminousdragon
      @luminousdragon 2 місяці тому

      @@dustinp26 She has a medically documented chemical imbalance. which means its not likely her actions or mindset that are the cause of the depression. A way for you to understand this is to think of someone with a physical problem that you can see and confirm with your own eyes. If someone is born without legs, they have to take all these steps to become physically independent and all the rest of their body becomes stronger and more agile than other people.
      If someone is born blind, or goes blind, all of their other senses are heightened. As in you can test both blind and seeing people and the blind people can hear better, feel better etc. Your resources go to fewer sensory organs, but one less so more for each of the remaining.
      Its no different with depression and other mental issues. You can see them so its easy to just judge people. Yes, some people just make terrible life choices leading them to depression. but many people have a chemical imbalance, which can be like being born blind. ANd when that happens, in order to operate on the same level as other people you have to learn a lot of strategies for coping, working around and through depression, learn acceptance, etc.
      And that becomes wisdom, and thats what is being discussed about QT.
      Also another example is say a person born poor versus a person born rich. Take two identical twins separate them at birth one in a dirt poor family. one in a rich family. If the twin in the poor family ends up in a job making 100K yearly thats super impressive, because of all the factors involved, viewed from the outside. If the one in the rich family has a job making 500K a year, thats NOT impressive. Not if they got a bunch of headstarts from their family, better teachers, tutors, schooling, advice from sucessful business owners, etc etc etc.

      I find that people who don’t have depression are the best listeners. It’s like explaining a new sensation to them, something entirely foreign. My best friend was the happiest guy I knew. I’d tell him about my depression and he’d just listen and ask the best questions ever. It was such a foreign concept, being sad all the time. He knew what it meant to be sad, but nothing more than a day. The idea that someone could be sad for months, the point that I had to force myself to go to the restroom, was unthinkable.
      Fuck I miss that guy. Loved him so much. Rest in peace, my brother

      "mental illness" is not a scientific term, it's a judgment. It depends what she actually meant by it but in that moment she's just using the term to judge herself as unfit to create babies. Personality traits are more likely to be learned through environment, like watching your parents personality and idolizing it to the point you copy parts of it. This idea of her life being ruined when her Mom passed could very well be the type of trait she could teach through environment without realizing.

      Definitely an age thing. You think you’re an adult at 18-24 and mature, but in reality the maturity gap from early adulthood to your late 20s-30s is massive

    Kids like Jason, could change the world for the younger Gen by setting an example, you are a couragous fella, with great intensions, but need to learn a lot about life, i can see you are trying to learn and gleam any thing you didnt know, and you process it which is a good trait, i learned a lot thru like cubs, scouts, and those sorts of activities that dont really exist in the same way anymore, but would make interesting content, for you to learn survival skills, be the next, bear grills for the next gen, this would make you an icon.

      Why? She doesn’t want to care for a child. That’s a pretty massive undertaking, and an adopted child comes with unknown trauma. Totally understandable if they don’t want kids. I have two kids myself and I get it. It’s a big ask.
