Frank Asante test message. First time with the new phone. I so agree with Tanya being underrated. The lyrics in most of her songs are timeless like Bob Marley.
I am not Jamaican but I must say this, they are one of the most prolific music writers and singers, they make music seems easy as hell.. big up JA........ musicians
Just told my student the streets don't love him so he needs to stay off the streets and this song popped in my head. Came over to listen. Still a hit in 2024.
+KIKO Vava i don't think so... well i didn't.... but we do love and respect ❤️"Mother Africa"❤️. your history is our history and some of the different cultural practices are still live and present here. Predominantly cultures from West Africa for majority of our fore fathers originated from there during slavery... Just take a trip to the island, you will see ❤️
Tanya’s music has taken me through some rough times when I was raising my children and their dad was always on the streets. My children are now 42 and 39. Very successful children
I'm from America and I was introduced to only hip hop and r and b... But this here is life changing... I'm just a young Israelite trying to find my way...

2006 was the BEST year for reggae and dancehall music in my opinion: All the hit songs are now classics from temperature, dutty wine, bun him, serious times, behind these prison walls, coming over tonight, church heathen... 2006 was the closest we came to being as good as the 90's.
Drew-Kiercey Whittaker if u think 2006 was the best year for reggae u must be young and dnt know too much of dance hall reggae. 80' and the 90's was the essence of dance hall reggae

As a Jamaican I love Africans east west north and South Love my family. For some Jamaicans the scars of slavery and some just want to be Jamaicans nothing else, out of many people they are one they claim no other land but love and respect those died to make them free. Which is understandable none never say we are sorry for what our ancestors did, it is a wound that still needs healing they can't claim who disown them. Much love
So true. I had a debate with an older Jamaican man, I was telling him that he's African first. But he only wanted to acknowledge that he was Jamaican. He frustrated the hell out of me. lol! Anyway, alot of black people for whatever reason, love to distance themselves from their ancestry. Whenever I see a black person, whether they are from U.S.A or the Caribbean, Canada or Britain I see African first.
well, am jamaican. i work at the airport and i have never met any african who even gave a hint of apology for the part their ancesters played in mine been enslaved. i have been to england and was told to my face that we jamaicans are sons and daughters of slave and the guy that was taiking down to me is african and he was quick to point out that they were born free. now why would i want to link myself with such people?
my mind, body annd spirit desire to go to africa. really want to experience the mother land but how can we heal when in my eyes you are doing the same thing still. one tribe against the other.
I remember when I was in primary school this song used to come on TV every Saturday evening ❤ and from ever since I knew these lyrics word for word ❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Most underrated artist ever, seen her live and she is pure fya! Love n respect Mrs. Stevens, and she did come off stage after a 2 hour show, and straight hang out with her fans in a de British Virgin Islands on New Year’s Eve. She hugged the white girl I was dating(who is cool as hell and tuned me on to this Queens music) “way back” is not just a well written, amazing tune, Tanya does walk her talk. She chilled and met everyone. Classy woman. Me n the lady parted ways, amicably, so call me if ya single T.S. Lol the world needs more good music this is the bat signal. Get back on the mic, we love you!!!
I love this song so much theres just no doubt about it. It's not even about the lyrics, it's about the flow of the words into the rhythm of the song. I just love this song ever since my mother played this when I was younger
