I ride too. I lane split too. But some riders need to learn that lane splitting doesn't give them right of way. If a driver in slow moving traffic sees an opening and wants to change lane, he's not obligated to check that a motorcycle isn't coming in from between lanes at 60mph 100 yards away.

12:10 - about 12:30 Lane splitters shouldn’t beep as if they are in the right. I agree that cars should look out for bikers in highway traffic. But if you are flying at high speeds it’s kind hard to spot you before it’s too late. Yet, it is the responsibility of the lane splitters to dodge appropriately and brake accordingly and let the cars with their beepers flashing to change lane.
In essence cars should look out for bikers using both mirrors. But for the bikers whom are speeding way too fast it defeats the abilities for cars to be able to spot them.

@@DutchGingy No state in the entire country is it legal to lane split in traffic that is moving at a reasonable pace. Only when stopped or slowing to a stop and you have to keep well below the speed limit. The biker was wrong.

Something you could easily have found with a very quick Google search. Sorry, that's three penalty points on your licence and a fine of £100 (that's assuming you accept a fixed penalty and it doesn't go to court, in that case it could go up to six points and up to £1000 fine)

Indicator doesn’t give you the right of way. All the indicator is for is saying “This is what I’m intending on doing so please adjust your driving accordingly” it doesn’t mean “I have it on so I’m legally allowed to cut you off now”

The drama queens videos shows that the majority of the riders that uses cameras in their helmets, are just looking for trouble to film and put into UA-cam.
I'm a biker myself, and almost all the times that I had a potentially dangerous situation on the road, was fault of another biker doing some stupid stuff. When a car cut me off, or something like that, many times wasn't on purpose, I just honk my horn, they apologise, and life goes on.

There are no such thing as blind spots if you care to look. There are areas you don't see if you only use your mirrors, but if you just look out the side windows you eliminate the "blind spot".

In California you can only ride between cars no more than 10mph higher than the traffic speed and several of those bikers were running much higher than that and they need to understand that if they see that the person has had the blinker on prior to coming up to them then it's going to happen and the biker should show some restraint and respect it needs to be shared. I try to make room for bikers that are running the center lane but there needs to some equal respect not always the cars fault and need to keep the speed down to maintain reaction time. In California at one time you could ride between then it was outlawed and then brought back.

It’s amazing just how many riders in these videos make their situations drastically worse. Yes, there are horrible drivers and riders out there but for our own safety on a bike we must be better that the rest. Rule of thumb get yourself out of the situation, use your bikes advantages to get away from an idiot. Yes, I’m fully aware you don’t always have a way out, there’s a drivers door in my city that proves that.

But the light was still red here. No one's lives are at stake. Give the moral outrage a rest. Save it for the real idiots who do that while their car is in motion.
It becomes a big issue when emergency vehicles are trying to get by and drivers looking down at their phones don't see the flashing lights. If you're operating a vehicle, you need to be aware of your surroundings. Can't do that when you're staring at a phone.

1. The scenario youre describing is an outlier; its also not the scenario in the video here.
2. Emergency vehicles are equipped with not only high visible flashing lights that a lot of people would notice anyway, even when looking at their phone, but also loud sirens that make where a person is looking an irrelevant point.
3. Someone checking their phone at a light is doing so knowing the light is going to change soon, and is goimg to look back up shortly anyway, so any delay is going to be short regardless. Id venture to guess emergency vehicles are more concerned with congestion than these kind of small, outlying delays that are easily overcome.
Doesn't matter, keep the fucking phone in your pocket while driving. Doesn't matter if it's red or green. That's what having a bluetooth earpiece is for, you keep focused on driving while on the road. If you want to text or call someone back, then pull over and park to do it.

@@moonlitegram its distracted driving. Case and point. If you're on the road then your focus is on the road. Plain and simple. Doesn't matter if its at a red light or gridlock. I don't need to provide proof cause its common fucking sense to focus on where you are going. If you cant comprehend why you should keep your focus on the road at all times then you frankly shouldn't have a license. You're just going to be a hazard to other people and won't learn your lesson until you've already screwed up.
