      @@gollymane5419 Personally, I didn't have a bike or car throughout college at Berkeley! Berkeley's campus is super hilly, so I thought biking up the hill would be difficult. Campus is walk-able and you have time in between back-to-back classes so you can walk from one class to another. I would say that most students just walk when they are on campus. Then I would say that having a bike or electric skateboard are both popular options if you did not want to walk. For cars, you don't really need a car on campus. If we wanted to get to places not near the campus, we would Uber, take the bus (we get free bus passes), or take BART, which is like the metro. You can get into San Francisco via the bus or the BART, so it is super easy. Plus, if you have a car on campus, you have to pay for parking and usually that is super expensive. Hope this helps!

    I've been watching your channel for a while but now I'm going through your UC Berkeley content because I've applied for Fall 2024 transfer as a non-traditional student (25 and up)! I'm really hoping I get in because of Berkeley's strong geography program; they also offer a minor in Landscape Architecture (my plan for grad school is an MLA and Berkeley literally has one the best programs in the country...Wurster Hall!!!). I have a good feeling about my chances! Thanks for the treasure trove of Berkeley tours Rachel :' )

    Love these videos! So i may have missed this, but did you also do a walking tour of the law school area and its facilities?

    • @rachel_lin
      @rachel_lin  4 роки тому

      darwinmusician thank you!! The law school school is just one building on campus, not a cluster of buildings. I did not walk by it, but at 3:08, the law school building is right next to Wurster at the upper edge of campus. Hope this helps!

    Nice video! In addition to walking and the bus, what's the best way to get to/from dorms (e.g., bike, skateboard, scooter)?

    • @rachel_lin
      @rachel_lin  4 роки тому +1

      Richard Molloy the dorms are all fairly close to campus, like 1-4 blocks. A lot of students own bikes to get around campus. There are a bunch of bike lock stations around campus as well as at each of the dorms. The second most popular mode of transportation would be electric skateboards. A lot of students have these so they don’t have to use energy to go up the hills. Some students have foldable scooters but they are a lot more bulky and typically students would bring them into the lecture hall. Hope this helps!

    I took Astro 10! Cake course but learned a lot too. Never got to use that telescope atop Campbell that you mentioned. Also, I did take ONE legal studies course, Chinese Law and Society. Btw I wish you had included Bowles in your tour...how could you forget the CASTLE? ;)

      @@rachel_lin I actually haven't seen a tour with Bowles in it. It's a shame because it's a touch of East coast college on the West coast. Love your shots of Doe and the Campanile though, they're what make Berkeley unique!

    *Wow!! Such a beautiful campus..* 😍
    but how often do you come accross homeless people around the campus?😐 I watched so many videos on homeless issues of San Francisco, is it getting anywhere better?😕

    • @rachel_lin
      @rachel_lin  5 років тому +2

      There are definitely homeless people who live in the surrounding vicinities of campus. As Berkeley is public, anyone can go onto campus!

    Hey Rachel,
    Do you have any idea where graduate students from Haas live? Would we have to choose housing from Uni Residents or we don't get the choice and we have to stick to off-campus apartments (like Intersection, Jackson House, etc.)?
    I would be really grateful if you could help me out with this!
    Great vid btw!

    • @rachel_lin
      @rachel_lin  6 місяців тому

      Thank you for watching! Congrats on Haas! You could apply to live in on-campus graduate student housing (at Ida Jackson, Intersection, Manville, and Albany Village- opening fall 2024). However, most students choose to live off-campus and rent their own apartment. If you have more questions, let me know!
      This website is helpful and goes through the graduate student housing options - housing.berkeley.edu/explore-housing-options/housing-by-user-type/graduate-students/

      Hey Rachel,
      Thanks for resources!!
      Yeah when I spoke to some people I heard that most graduates live off-campus. But honestly which one do you think is the more economical option?

    • @rachel_lin
      @rachel_lin  6 місяців тому

      @@devrao3537 I'd say living off-campus is the more economical option as it would be cheaper than living on-campus!
