  • The Walrus Audio Mako R1 has a sustain feature, that holds and sustains the reverb when a button is pressed. This can be used to play over and create soundscapes. In this video, I exemplify how that may sound. As a single guitarist in a band, you need to have a good amount of tools in the form of pedals, to be able to bring different soundscapes to different songs. Having the soundscape change within a set of songs, less or more, makes for a more fun experience for the listener. The R1 is able to provide that.
Thanks for watching, much appreciated. Please give it a like and subscribe.

I would say that it stays as long as you have it engaged. But, it seems sensitive to the dynamics of hitting the string for when you engage the "hold", resulting in a very varied result from time to time. Sometimes in a live setting, in the heat of the moment just being slighty off in the timing of engaging the effect. I could have, looking back, have wished for a more pronounced effect. Perhaps just a matter of getting used to using it I guess. It's much like a drone in some settings, so it can for sure be useful.

@@bobs_backyard ok bob i asked to walrus support and they confirmed that it is NOT infinite sustain. its just decay maxed out, and the sound will die out eventually while keeping the button pressed. i asked them to add the setting in the next firmware release though. wait and see.

Ah ok, then apparently I haven't had it engaged for a long enough time to notice. I would change with the chord progression and seldom let it space out. But given what you say, one would get further with engaging at higher attack/volume.. Thanks for the clarification!
