@@trashbash2788I think it's because it's not overly cartooney like we would expect from modern Mario. What I mean is, this doesn't look that much different from if Nintendo tried to make a game that was trying to mimic reality as close as they could. I feel a lot of GameCube era games are like that, especially texture-wise. Take Mario Golf for example. Couple that with the fact that there are no living creatures in the castle.
My guess is that since it was really just an animation they threw it together with some mocap and then promptly deleted it when they were done. Made purely for the show floor.
This is really cool! It's impressive to see the Gamecube doing modern rendering tactics (bump-mapping, high polycounts, mip-mapping). Thanks for showing!
Now somebody out there must make a SM64 hack Gamecube render of Super Mario 64 with the models from Super Smash Bros Melee and Luigi's Mansion and probably call it "Super Mario GameCube" or "Super Mario '01" ASAP!!!!
Kind of a shame that the GameCube was the last Nintendo home console to have hardware that could compete against the competition. I totally understand why they go with hardware that's a bit outdated these days, but I do miss the way they used to be. I'm kind of tired of all the gimmicks of the recent consoles. It's cool and all, but I really prefer just a normal game console with a classic controller. Also, if I had kids I'd be *terrified* to have them playing around with any of the modern Nintendo consoles! They are not exactly kid friendly these days, especially the Switch. My sister and brother-in-law are so worried about what their kids might do to their Switch that they won't even tell them that the Switch can be undocked and played as a handheld. They never undock the thing ever.
You're the worst parent ever then "Omg the switch is spooky i will never let my kids touch it and never tell them it can be played anywhere at anytime" is that it sounds like
@@Concon12316 Why are all of you kids so terrible at reading? Try again, and this time pay attention. I don't have kids. That's why I said "if I had kids." Also, how are parental controls going to stop the console from getting damaged?
I've been trying to run this tech demo on Dolphin, the issue is that it doesn't even boot at all! I've tried for many minutes at this point, it's hell just to make this tech demo run! The thing I don't get is, how did anyone figure this out? Is the Dolphin build in this video older than mine? Also, I've been searching on how to solve this mess, but 0 solutions. If I found a case of it, it was 10 years ago, which means they used an older build of Dolphin.
You know..... I'm glad nintendo got hacked, and I'm tired of pretending like it's a bad thing. All these small yet beautiful things, publically available within the lifespans of people who would actually appreciate them
Wow... there’s something about this iteration of Peach’s Castle that’s so... _dreamlike._
Maybe it's the music, or the architecture but I know _exactly_ what you mean. Felt so surreal first time I went through it.

Love this, wish the space world zelda tech demo was online somewhere

Didn’t n64 already use mip mapping?
@@williamxie5901Some fewer games usd it, like Conker's BFD
If Mario 64 got a sequel on the GameCube, I could imagine Nintendo reusing the castle as a hub world.
It looks so realistic and dreamy, I love it.
this is the best tech demo i've ever seen
You know, why do GameCube visuals seem to have more charm than the visuals of any other 3D console before or after it?
Now I want a Mario game with that castle design.
Same
I adore this tech demo so much.
I never saw anything that looked as good as that staircase
I need this music extended!
Hey, you're bubblesishot!
why am i subbed to this channel

Whoever made this tech demo, they spelt castle incorrectly, they spelt it as castle lol 0:24

JMFSpike or just tell your kids to keep their hands off your stuff lol

You won't let your kids play the amazing Switch games? And what outdated hardware?
You do realize there are parental controls, right?

Your youtube logo looks misteriously like a red Puyo/Blob from Puyo Puyo/Madou Monogatari
