Yes! Everything Julie does is a class act, and yet she doesn't resort to snobbery by assuming that we all have the means to patronize 5th Avenue boutiques! Although I am more of a minimalist, I love the inspiration I get from her videos❣
Christmas is a religious holiday for me, so I decorate the coffee table with our beautiful Italian porcelain Nativity set on a dark green runner with gold accents and flanked by candles. (Magazines and other bric-a-brac are banished for the duration of the holidays!)
Living in the Oregon woods there is no dearth of greenery to cut... although it's usually wet! After selling our home and downsizing, we no longer have a mantel to decorate, but the low-silled central windows of our open plan living space are crying out for fresh evergreen boughs accented with some special ornaments I kept.
P.S. Julie, you look so beautiful in that gorgeous shade of lipstick!

That’s the trick- pull out ALL your holiday inventory then add inexpensive fillers. Holiday, but make it CHIC! ☺️
i am doing white winter wonderland and neutrals ! going to try to make it somewhat romantic somehow since i am a newlywed.
My “color” this year is a cross between Hunter and Teal… it’s looking very masculine at the moment, but nothing a little mercury glass can’t spruce up ✨😍

I always watch your theme video from a few years back every year. I love the compilation of different colour schemes. Would love to see more of that because so many people on YT seem to focus on traditional colours schemes, but thats never how I decorate - I've never had a green tree either, so maybe different colour schemes that don't include green would be really fun? I'd watch that over and over 😂

I love the table setting ideas! I like to forage my yard for branches and evergreens too! But I’m afraid minimalism at Christmas time was a real problem for me. When the children were little it was all about the magic. But I bought after Christmas for lower prices and built up quite a collection. I made Christmas magical every year. They remember all the things that were done now and know how much we did. But we still believe in Santa here. I still decorate a lot bc Christmas is The Show. If I don’t do it for that holiday when will I ? You look great! Stay pretty!!! Margaret
I do love that mentality as well. If you’re a minimalist, try going all out for the holidays! I’m a maximalist year round, so I’m taking it in the other direction, go figure 🤣

I recycle mine year after year, one year with snowman, the next maybe santa & reindeers, etc. But the main stay in my holiday decs is my Pilipino Christmas lantern made of capiz shells that was given to me by my mother-in-law. Used to over decorate for the holidays but not anymore, putting them away is not fun at all...ahahaha.
It’s like ripping off a bandaid 😆 I take my sweet time to decorate, then yank everything down day after Xmas for a clean, fresh start to the new year!

hey Julie, I like your videos and I understand the pine brances etc, but what would a chic holiday decor look like if it doesn't necessarely mean december holiday/Christmas? Maybe it's summer and you just want to create some sort of chic version of a Hawaian decor or one that can be used all year round and doesn't necessarely include flowers for example?

What I like about this is that buying nice plates you can use all the time, using candles in glasses you already have, foraging your yard for plants, and using a scarf as a table runner are all pretty responsible things to do for the planet as opposed to buying lots of seasonal plastic trash like reindeers and santas and tinsel and all the endless stuff that takes up aisles and aisles of space at every store from the biggest big box stores to the corner dollar store right now. Every holiday season I just imagine how much all that useless crap - the manufacturing, the shipping, the inevitable throwing in a landfill - is harming the planet. The holidays should just be about spending time with your friends and family, making a nice meal, being reflective and thankful, going to a special church service if you are religious, and giving a few special well-chosen or handmade gifts to people you love. Never understood how hanging a ton of kitschy crud up, one month a year, on the inside and outside of the house did more good than harm. At least use heirloom or thrift store decor if that’s your jam and don’t contribute to the death of the planet.
I always think about how wasteful interior design is as an industry and how much impact my decisions contribute to waste, both personally and professionally. Simply doing what I can with what I have, also better on the wallet as well! 🙌😄

But for now, I’m eating 5 mini-meals a day, I chase our crazy toddler around and tbh the weight just melted off once she was mobile 😆 I lead a v. active lifestyle and commit to 15min dance parties every wknight with my girls since I can’t make it to the gym! Lol it seems to be working 😅
