Dad's Favourite SEA FISHING Spot Revisited!

- My best ever Cod fishing session came from this very spot. It isn't far from the River Usk mouth and is next to the West Usk Lighthouse B & B down at St Brides. It's beautifully positioned on the Severn Estuary and as Bristol Channel Sea Fishing marks go, this is also one of my favourites, I have so many great memories. When it comes to wellbeing and mental health, this part of the world can give you a great boost, there must be something in the air!
Thank you for watching, it is very much appreciated!

Gareth the first conger is caught, when you get them to your feet and they drop off it just saves the hassle of unhooking them the intros are just to let us know where you are, so just put it in with your chatting, just keep bringing us along with you fishing and I will enjoy it, fish on Gareth fish on, and always remember your parents are both proud of you and always will be. Jim from Scotland
Yes I suppose that's one way of looking at it Jim, saves having to unhook them ha! Lovely spot this is, so many great memories from over the years, the fishing here back in the day was quite special. Hope all is good with you...take care and enjoy the weekend 👍

Wonderful pictures and memories Gareth and super (if slippery) conger too! Always good to watch you, thanks for all you do with producing these videos. Every time you disappear into the darkness on the rocks, I am hoping you come back in one piece 😂 Have a good weekend 🎣
Thanks Andy. Haha yes, there have been many times whereby I've not come back in one piece when climbing up those rocks, although thankfully I've avoided bones breaks etc! It was a pleasant evening, so calm and still. You too, have a good one 👍
Truly magnificent video. We have a wood burner and open fire in our house beautiful with the lights out just sitting watching the flames dancing like little angels. What a proud dad your dad would have been of his wonderful son. Can't wait to see more. Regards to you and the family

Well ..what a touching video. I can totally identify with your father wanting to be by the log burner. Some how there is something very special about that . I am the same. Good session fishing too. I know no one likes getting old but a young lad said something to me this week and I thought wow...."don't be afraid of getting old try to enjoy it as many people don't get the chance"
Cheers
Thanks bud, I appreciate it. Yes he loved the fire, he'd sit there for hours on end, relaxing. That's a great saying, wise words indeed. Thanks bud, much appreciated. I bet you have some great memories of when you fished with your Dad, these memories will last a lifetime. Your Dad was right, there's some monster Congers at the Docks entrance and as for that 28 pounder, what a fish that is, fair play, bet you were chuffed with that one!! Cheers for watching, have a good weekend 👍

Cheers Gareth … Lovely video mate. I’m sure your dad is watching over you. Must be hard to revisit marks you fished with your dad but nice to reflect on those sessions you had with your dad. I lost my dad last February and miss him so much not easy but at least we have some great memories. Thanks for sharing your memories and producing nice watches. Take care mate 👍🎣🎣
You're welcome Stephen, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes you're right, it is sometimes difficult to film at these marks and the emotions often come out ha! Ah yes, I remember you telling me about your Dad, not easy is it. Those memories will always keep us going, always nice to reminisce. Thanks mate, enjoy the weekend 👍
Morning Gareth from a really dull, cloudy Hereford....
As a lot of people have already said, your Dad would be so proud of you buddy....your love is obvious for everyone to see & he was a great teacher, not only in fishing, but in how to live & enjoy life....
Memories are so important & fishing the marks you shared, keep them alive & kicking....
Another cracking eel from the conger king!!!....there must be some real monsters out there....they certainly mess your rigs up though, don't they??
Anyways buddy, back to the stock & getting these Christmas trees ready for a few weeks time...short season, but I love it!!!!
Have a great week ahead & look forward, as always to the next video...take good care buddy...
Jon.
Hi Jon. Yes it's the same down here, quite overcast at the moment, although the wind is very light. Thank you, Dad taught me everything about fishing and we spent so many good times together next time the water, I can still remember so much. You do get some monster Congers at this spot, they like the shallow mud flats as it's easy pickings for them, there were probably a few 30lbers out there that evening. Good luck with the Christmas trees, sounds like one of the more fun jobs to do, I can appreciate why you enjoy it. Cheers as always, take care 👍
Working till tomorrow night, looking forward to this one.... 😊😊🇫🇷🇫🇷♥️🐟❤️
Nice one Albert, good luck with the shift. Hope all is good with you bud, take it easy 👍🇨🇵
Great video ,keep the memories alive
Yes definitely Andrew, can't beat a bit of reminiscing. Cheers as always, take care 👍
Thankyou for a very moving video and sharing some of your father's history Gareth. It's great to here about the bond you had with your dad. Another good session with a nice couple of eels even if one was camera shy lol. Hope your well mate, take care and see you in the next vid. All the best my friend 😊👍
You're welcome Peter. Yes this one was a little different, I thought it would be nice to show some of Dad's photos etc. It was a beautiful evening, the weather was spot on and the wildlife was on good form, shame that the tide went out ha! I'm doing ok thanks, hope all is good your end...enjoy the weekend 👍
What you on about your the king of intros! And outros, its the bit in the middle your shit at lol!! Love ya bro lol love to Cath n all XX
Haha I don't disagree with you there Matt, the stuff in the middle usually goes wrong! Hope all is good your end and I hope you've been getting out fishing. Love to all, cheers bud ❤️
Another quality video dude, that session we had was really good wasn’t it. We’ll get together again soon to chase those eels. Thanks for being so kind with your words, a true gent you are 👌🏼
Thanks Mike, it was a lovely evening, not a breath of wind. Yes I think of that Pink House Conger session a lot, what a great session we had! We'll definitely sort out that Usk Mouth Conger session soon, every chance of a 20lber there! Have a good week, see you soon 👍
Image of your father gar, like a lot of us our fathers introduced us to fishing. Spent many a summer on the beach fishing and playing, climbing over jetty’s and docks, even scattered my father ashes up morfa as it was his favourite place to fish and to be!!
You clearly have many good memories of the times you spent with your Dad. Nice that you spread his ashes at Morfa, what a great place that is! I spread my Dad's ashes next to the Transporter Bridge on the banks of the tidal River Usk, he loved it there. Thanks bud, appreciated as always, enjoy the weekend 👍
@@riversidewithme great memories, was difficult for him being 40 with 3 under 5 and a single father, and at that time. Being outdoors was everything as a kid and having a beach of that length to explore or the rocks to get crabs, catch mackerel, watching my brother catch a 6lb bass at 5 years old was all great way to spend a day out.
@beany1987 I can appreciate that must have been difficult, very challenging. What a lovely fish to catch at 5 years old, I bet your brother was chuffed with that one ❤️
@@riversidewithme yes was great for him, took me almost 20 years to beat that and he doesn’t even fish now 😂😂.
Another lovely video Gareth, but the footage of your dad made this one special. I lost mine age 64 Christmas of 1999 and we couldn't go fishing for a couple years before that after he had a stroke. But but even this weekend when I was catching at a new favourite mark, I was thinking I would have liked to take him there as he had never fished it. I know he would have been proud of me just as your dad is when he is watching from above.
Thank you Neil, I appreciate it. I bet you have some great memories of when you fished with your Dad, these memories will last a lifetime. Yes definitely, your Dad will be looking down on you and I bet he enjoyed that new spot you fished! Funnily enough, I also think the same when I fish a new spot, I think Dad would have liked it! Cheers bud, take it easy 👍
Always nice to be fishing and remembering past enjoyments. I watched your Chesil beach video the other day you were in the exact spot we walked and did a beach clean I am looking forward to your next one and am still catching up on your previous ones many thanks mate see you soon
Yes that's right Daniel, good to reminisce isn't it, keeps those memories alive. Ah yes I remember that Chesil session, unfortunately I felt rough and so I couldn't make a proper video, the weather was a little dodgy too. I'll go back though, I do like that end of the beach. Cheers for watching, much appreciated 👍
Hi Gar, another great watch mate 👍. Hope you enjoy your couple of weeks off filming, you absolutely deserve it after so many videos just lately. Sods law, you'll probably only go and catch a PB Cod, bass or whiting when you're not filming 😂. Take care mate, look forward to your next video after your well earned break 👍. Lisa & Steve 🎣 xxx
Hi both, thanks for the comment. Yes I'm guaranteed to catch a big Cod when not filming, it's odds on ha! I'll probably make one more video and then I'll take a little break from the filming but not a long break, two weeks maximum. Cheers for the continued support, I do appreciate it ❤️
Another great video m8 bless your dad you look alot like your dad
Thanks Kirk, appreciated as always mate. Ha lots of people say that I look like him! Cheers for watching, take care 👍
Nice one Gareth. I'll be thinking of you and your dad whilst I'm there tomorrow.

Really nice that you have a little video of your dad Gareth, sadly I don't have any of mine. Great show again mate.

I have watched every video you have made Gareth
I live in the valleys and fished a few of the locations you fish
Not made a comment before but felt that I should start doing so from now on
Your natural approach to your fishing is for me the best part of what you do
I would love to have a session with you 🎉
Thanks bud, I appreciate that, nice of you to say. I just enjoy spending a few hours next to the water to be honest, any fish which turn up are a bonus. No doubt you'll bump into me, I'm usually on a patch of mud or sand ha! Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍

Thanks James, I was pleased to get another, having lost one earlier in the session ha! Have a good weekend 👍
Great video and a very touching one as well. and one I can relate to.
We lost our daughter( only child) a few years ago, and she often went fishing with me when she was young, I always tell her to hook one on for me when I’m fishing lol,
Thank for sharing it with us Gareth
I'm sorry to hear that Nigel, that must have been devastating for you. Nice that you talk to her when you're out fishing, a great way of keeping in touch. I do the same, I always ask for Dad's help when filming, especially when I'm getting stressed ha! Thanks bud, have a good weekend and take care 👍
Great vid mate. Least the doggies has gone to another part of the world HaHa.
Haha very true, not a doggy in site! It was a nice evening in fairness, I couldn't complain. Thank you Dean 👍
Great video mate, a lot of memories, nice conger 😊

Thanks Carl, much appreciated. It was a lovely evening, so calm and still. Enjoy the weekend 👍
Excellent video as always Gareth, always a pleasure watching. It really is a lovely mark to fish, and always good for a conger or two. It is always nice to hear your stories, keep up the great work mate.
Thank you Paul, appreciated as always. Yes definitely, it's a great mark isn't it, many good memories from over the years. Hope all is good with you, take it easy bud 👍
Great video once again Gareth. It’s great to reminisce about family and friends I often do. I often look up when I’m fishing in their favourite spots and catch a nice fish and think they would be proud of that one. I have a little chuckle to myself. Nice to catch a couple of fish too that’s the bonus. It’s nice to be able to get out fishing it’s not until you can’t you appreciate how lucky you are as I’m experiencing at the moment. Thanks as always for your time and effort it’s most appreciated.
Thank you Steve, always appreciated. Yes you're right there, you can't beat a bit of reminiscing, always good for the soul isn't it. I'm glad we have the ability to remember things, it's these memories which keep us going. Sorry to hear that you can't get out fishing, that must be very frustrating for you. It's always in the back of my mind, knowing that one day I won't be able to do it anymore. Have a great weekend 👍
Love it when you talk about your dad, was that your mam in the photo? Great video as always Gareth. "Treasured memories will last forever"❤
❤
Thank you Patricia. Yes that's my mother, the photograph is over 40 years old ha! Yes you're right, those memories will last a lifetime, they keep us going don't they. Cheers as always, enjoy the weekend 👍
Your videos give me goosebumps.. your such a genuine person and tell a story which I love from start to finish.. I've only been a subscriber for a few months and love every time you post a new watch.. I suffer with bad anxiety and your fishing vids help.. your dad seemed a good guy and would be so proud of you.. im only down the road in swansea.. love to meet up one day and getba few lines wet! Tight lines my friend.. all the best butt 🎣
Thank you Nate, I'm pleased to hear that the videos help. Anxiety can be crippling as you know, it can stop you from functioning day to day, I sometimes get it bad, it's not nice. Yes Dad was a good bloke in fairness, he got on with everyone and we spent many hours together next to the water. Cheers for watching bud, have a good weekend 👍
Another great video and some great conga juggling.
Haha thanks Rob, that one just didn't want to keep still, definitely a bit of juggling required! Cheers for watching, take care 👍
Swans mate for life. I think that’s the same pair I saw in 2022/ 3. Glad to see them with another brood
Nice, that's good to hear. They all seemed to be doing well, they were lively and healthy. Thanks Ronald, much appreciated 👍
