If a million people go onto a video to voice their displeasure UA-cam doesn't take into account that people are hating on it, all it sees is "oh wow, this video has a million comments it must be worth pushing to more people because it's so popular".
The guy on the youtube video said on twitter they are "reviewing" the feedback. I just hope they really listen to their users and creators this time, but knowing UA-cam I doubt it.
I doubt they will change it. Feedback was obvious even before they made the announcement and they are decided to do it regardless, they have a monopoly on videohosting so they can do whatever they want. They also shadow banned videos about dislike from peoples recommendations to contain backlash so many people are not even aware of it.
I think it would be better if they showed a graph and the like amount so people will know if the video is crap without looking at a wholsome video with 7 dislikes instead it's 1% dislike. much better solution

Hopefully everyone was able to realize that it was all a political move to hide the fact that the silent majority was an incredibly large group of people, and people were starting to wake up and get brave enough to speak out, based on the fact that they could look at the likes and dislikes ratio of a political video, and confirm that they weren’t the only person who felt that way. It helped people to be brave enough to express their views. I am absolutely certain that this was the reason behind it,, based on the political environment and the timing of them getting rid of the ability for people to see the amount of dislikes a video has.

I have an extension that shows me the like-dislike ratio, but that doesn't mean everyone will have it or want it... and because the dislike button is useless, it won't be taken into account in the algorithm, the problem is deeper than that and it takes more than "haha, I can actually see data, you dumb corporation" to solve it.

it's UA-cam we are talking about, they don't even care about their users, the only thing they care about is how much brand deals they have.
