I’ll admit I wasn’t to sure about Godzilla’s new design, but after seeing the movie it’s grown on me, its literally Monsterverse Godzilla 2000.

My whole theater lost their shit when Kong used the little Kong as a ragdoll😂
I love the natural progression of the bond between Kong and Suko. Even with that "I'll beat a motherfucker with another motherfucker" moment. And the fact that Jia was prophesized as a hero who can rouse Mothra from her slumber is amazing, same with her meeting other members of her tribe. Also, I not only love the "Aw, shut up" punch on the ape annoyingly running his mouth a few seconds before Kong met Skar King, but the part where Kong lobs a rock and creams the one ape in the head.
Fun fact: Dan Stevens also played The Beast in the remake of Beauty And The Beast.
The way this is compared to G Minus One is sad, they're 2 completely different movies and I enjoyed both in different ways

They complement each other perfectly. Minus One was arguably the best Godzilla movie, whereas the New Empire had arguably the best monster fights in the whole series. Damn Good time to be a G fan.

I am 100% convinced they got inspiration for Shimo from Taro, the stop-motion dragon from the Seventh Voyage of Sinbad (1958).
It's got the same silhouette, it's controlled by a balding schemer, it's even kept in the same kind of cave with a similar collar.
All of which would make perfect sense, because Taro fighting a Cyclops in 7th Voyage was THE original giant monster fight. The one that set the bar.
Seeing Mini-Kong being dragged like a rag doll and used as a weapon is the best thing that ever happened in the MonsterVerse!

- Godzilla's new pink-colored plates glow are based on the MireGoji design from Godzilla 2000 (1999) & Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000) while as for the pink atomic breath is from Shin Godzilla (2016) then as for the plates where also said to be inspired from the Godzilla Ultima design from Godzilla Singular Point (2021)
- The Director Adam Wingard wanted Trapper to be based on an '80s action figure like the G.I. Joe character Chuckles, but Dan Stevens based him off of Michael Douglas & Kurt Russell
- Adam Wingard says that Mini-Kong to the studio that it is the Monsterverse's "Baby Yoda" & while never mentioned in the movie it is called "Suko" which in Japanese the characters can mean "Essential Child", & even more shocking fact in the novelization of the film Suko is confirmed to be Skar King's son
- Shimo is a Japanese word meaning "frost" or "gray hair", but in Sawhili it means "hole" or "abyss" which both meaning can relate to her
- The Drownviper serpent that Kong fights in the lake is a call back to a planned villain of Kong: Skull Island (2017) but it was replaced with the Skullcrawlers
- According to Jared Krichevsky Skar King's whiplash is made from the spine of a Warbat which is the same monster that Kong defeated Godzilla vs Kong (2021) after entering the Hollow Earth
- Notice In Rome there's graffiti artwork of Hedorah's eye, Jet Jaguars arm, a Xilien UFO, the turtle-like mysterious bones, Pacific Rim kaiju Knifehead, & a symbol that looks like Mothra's symbol

Everything yall said about this movie was what Iike about it. I loved the people. I like the new Bad guy . We had more monsters. It was great.
Minus One is very much a horror/disaster film, while the Monsterverse films are epic spectacles. Gojira doing a swan dive and a suplex are inspired from the Showa and Millennium Gojira films. The little Kong is bigger than Kong was in Kong: Skull Island. The Titans Gojira fights before the finale are Scylla and Tiamat, who he previously fought in the comic Godzilla: Dominion

You should check out society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing.
Not going to lie, seeing Kong use mini-kong like a club broke me. I died a little while laughing.
Reminded me of the movie "The Heat" starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy..... Melissa McCarthy's character is a Massachusetts police officer, and while at a family dinner, while arguing with a sister in-law or whatever, another one chimes in, basically all threatening to kill one another, and Melissa McCarthy says "shut up, I'll kill you, the kill her with your dead body" or something like that.
So the literal child beating on two fronts from Kong reminded me of the scene and set me off
Super disappointed y'all called this a bastardization of the character. This IS godzilla. It's full of easter eggs to the classic. He's an allegory for nature's uncontrollability for mankind. This was the best monsterverse movie BY FAR. Best fights, best pacing, best human aspect, no utterly over edited fight scenes in PITCH BLACK cut a billion times into pieces or literally blocked by human garbage that nobody cares about! Still wish there was more Godzilla always but kong representing the best of humanity and skar representing the worst was AMAZING. This movie had the absolute RADDEST intros to new characters! The theme of finding home or finding family was so great for multiple characters if you think about it but especially jia and kong. The music was BUMPING. the tracking shots and long shots with no dialogue fully led by titans, AMAZING. Kong's gauntlet is a realistic piece of tech for this universe and it also is an easyer egg to his previous crossover version having lightning abilities in a cool grounded way. The exposition scene was even done amazing!! I'm telling you i could go on about how amazing this movie is! Throw some respect on the king's name, people!! We can enjoy minus one AND this BEAST OF A TITAN GOD WITH A DOPE NEW DESIGN 🩷🩷
It was genuinely just a joke, like an American bastardization; we absolutely love these movies and found this one not only to be the best in the series but also the most entertaining too. They're on the right track, more monster shit and less human stuff! To be fair, it is very obvious we enjoyed it too LOL!

But gosh it's true that everyone is being kinda unfair just because we all know minus one was PHENOMENAL they're just wildly different flavors and it's become a popular thing to act like the monsterverse movies are trash and I'm too autistic to let this baseless bullying stand!! LMAO. I super think this one deserved to make the most money but I won't lie I'm hella nervous that this same director isn't coming back. Minus one got me into Godzilla and legendary movies are now my comfort films and special interest I swear. I love watching y'all's reactions though for real, keep it up!

I loved this movie. People love hating on the MonsterVerse, especially after the G Minus One masterpiece, but these "bastardizations" from Legendary is the Godzilla I grew up with, Everything from the 60s and 70s was such campy fun.

18:37 when I first watched this, I had to run it back so many times and LMAO! it took me longer to watch it than its original run time!
i dont mind that Godzilla beat Tiamat, but in 5sec.....HELL NO! that's some BS! Godzilla is tunes for water and land, meaning that he's not super specialized water creature, but Tiamat IS... Tiamat is more powered up than Godzilla, and could have turned him into Sushi REALLY fast, but POOF and Godzilla wins, barely without a fight... so sad...
I'm disappointed that they reused the whole 'lizard vs ape' plot again when there's a couple dozen unique kaijus they could've picked from.
On one hand I'm annoyed they continued to put so much emphasis on the absurd human plot, but at least they found a great balance between action & humor throughout.
The callbacks to the old school combat were a blast worth watching!

I lost my mind when Godzilla and King Kong teamed up OMG 😳😳 good movie love the video Octokrool stay motivated Dream big 1 mill on the way
This movie was hilarious but definitely you can see it was made with comedy in mind. The amount of memes that were and can be made with it alone is insane. This makes it all worth it. If they tried to make this film in a darker tone like minus one I didnt think it would work. You have to switch how you want to enjoy a godzilla movie with this film. This film is all about the kaiju brawling action and the uplifting enjoyable tones. Meanwhile, minus one is all about the drama and story writing. Its about the damage caused by the attack of godzilla and humanities warmongering rather than the fight itself.
The visuals are stunning and the characters are awsome in both. The sound track in both are outstanding! Both have their methods of function or play out in ways that compliment their style of film.
The jamming and adreneline pumping sound track in godzilla x kong: new empire fit their comedic and action oriented film. Where as the devastating and heart string tugging sound track in minus one fits its film. The cgi visuals and props in minus one compliment its depiction of godzilla and style of writing. The cgi movements and facial expressions in godzilla x kong: the new empire compliment its film style and depiction of the kaiju within.
Here are some tid bit issues but nothing serious I noticed:
Honestly I didnt think I would like the the dentist guy when he 1st appeared. I thought "who is this egotistical a**". He came to be a chill character I liked in the end. The army guy who was eaten by the tree had a rotten personality but was a character I liked. He was one of those hard cases that you cannot help but like despite them doing nothing but talk trash. Its a character you can tell is hot headed and not likely to survive a film like godzilla or a horror film either. So in the end he was laying his role well. The relationship between the scientist and the native girl from skull island was sweet. It also gave the scientist a reason to be there other than work. Otherwise she would be no different than any of the other monarch employees. She would simply have a higher role in the organization than others. The pod casters return was a good idea too. He gave a sort of comedic relief to the tension in the scenes involving humans without side tracking away from the plot. The amount of comedy in this film was almost a bit too strong. When depicting a destructive kaiju tragedy film it doesnt fit so well. When it comes to a comedy film simply trying to be enjoyed by fans of the franchise its great. I can look up memes or jokes on the internet anytime though so its not exactly a praise worthy statement for a godzilla film.
Godzilla vs kong: the new empire also has some unexplained or resolved plot holes. Plot holes such as the reasoning behind why having the crystal on the scar kings whip breaking means she can no longer be controlled. Another big one is once the portals are closed off are there any new ones they can use to get back to the new ape hood? So the new empire film lacks a lot of good story writing but makes up for in entertainment through humor.
In the end I would rate minus one higher but still both films are great in their own respective depictions/styles. Especially when you consider how much of a difference there was in the cost of creating the films. It had an insane budget but was creating entertainment not much different than we from a meme creator on the internet. Its also definitely a step up in terms of the past few American godzilla films. I honestly think this would have been a great way to end this trilogy of American godzilla films. Doing anymore may just end up ruining this win.
While it would be cool to see the smaller scar king grow up.... knowing hollywood they would have him become the next kind of scar king himself with a teenage revolt against kong. Which would only deteriarate from his growth in this film and his bonding to kong.

They're so different it would be hard to compare, but I can't wait to see you do so. They did a good job with this movie, building off the others, without making it repetitive.

These iconic titans together have given us nothing but goodness.
Kong for 90 years, Godzilla for 70 years and being part of this has been so entertaining.
Movie No. 5, GxK is amazingly good.
I saw it IMAX 3D with a packed house, opening weekend.
The science, history, culture of this universe is vast.
Some people go to watch these movies for the battles, but the background of such things are interesting to me and because everything has a reason to exist.
The human characters are important (they are).
Subtle connections from us to these beasts and beyond aren't just because of the same world, different levels.
These Titans are the showstoppers, established or newly introduced, ally or threat.
Loved the homages to the classic films with Godzilla's newer colors (Godzilla 2000 from 1999)
and Kong's Powerhouse mechanism harnessing energy (King Kong vs. Godzilla from 1962).
As for the battles, they are beyond incredible with the effects and Mo Cap, savage yet articulated.
After all the hype and success of this film, you gotta wonder what could happen next?
So much more they can pull from the classics to add in for this universe.
Either way, we want more.

Seeing that one ape run away and Kong throwing the boulder to bean him in the head reminded of that one similar situation in Hot Fuzz
So the fat lizard is Titanus Doug (official name) he was in godzilla vs kong for abt 2 seconds of screentime when you first enter the hollow earth. And he became an instant fan fave. So much so that multiple toy companies made merch of him. The fans begged for him to be in the new movie so the director did it! Not only that, but the fans like to say hes secretly the most powerful titan, i mean he managed to pull food away from Kong while he was using both hands and pulling with his full body
Someone calculated the size of that skeleton based on kong's size on the head. Just from what we can see, it has been determined that it is a THREE MILE LONG SKELETON

Shimo (Ice Doggy) is my favorite new Kaiju Beast. She's pretty and has really cool powers. I wonder if she'll stay with King Kong and Suko (Mini-Kong) and go adventuring and kicking giant monster ass. Maybe Shimo and Kong would get together and have babies. Lol.
