Later she invented the first artifical intervertebral disc and led two different clinics as a qualified doctor. This woman is amazing.
Who is she then?
@@Matty-Travelsas per the very clear text in the video.. Karin Janz, Munich Olympics 1972.
I actually went and had a look for myself, and yep, you are 100% correct, she went on to become a Doctor and her speciality was in spines, she is world renowned for her research and inventions.
She worked in Berlin until retiring in 2012.
What an amazing woman.
I'd have expected her to be a patient after those moves on the bars😅
Физкультура лечит, а спорт калечит. Помните об этом, прежде чем заставлять своего ребенка заниматься спортом
Can't believe how perfectly straight her legs were through the whole routine, and that dismount was crazy! Perfect.
Those knees never bend she had them locked
And her feet are perfect too. It's as if it's effortless for her.
A mi me encantó la "entrada" o como se diga. Ese giro antes de tocar las barras, increible! 👏
The best program ever! What a talent!!
she didn't do anything?
The way she so gracefully goes bar to bar is seriously impressive

I don't even know if most people realize how hard most of her bar to bar work really is! I trained as a gymnast for years and she did things I couldn't have dreamed of. WoW!
That mounting jump was unbelievable! Pure talent.
was so quick I didn't even notice it at first. but have watched it 20 times just to see it!

omg! i was just wondering how/what these athletes do once they retire from sports and if they’re able to focus on anything other than training
She then went on in life to become a doctor and a professor. Remarkable young woman.

That flip in between the bars in straddle was immaculate
Between the bars ! Hard to believe !
Чудо из чудес!
Over 50 yrs.ago and still as impressive today ! Amazing skills !
I can feel my belly hurt just from this video, yet she does it so gracefully, making it seem effortless. That's just incredible.
she doesnt 'hit' the bar. with great abs that doens do a thing to your belly neither your ovaries. They were trained in skill, not in force. Any gymnast today, with the lack of smothness they have would break the hip
my balls 😭
Karin Janz won gold several times for East Germany in the seventies. She went on to become a medical doctor and was Chief Physician of clinics in Berlin from 1990 to 2012!
Edit: look at those hip calluses!!
Nice
Thank you for listing her name and achievements! For some reason people just don't cover women's great work with the same attention to detail that they do mens!
What an absolute boss of a lady. Impressive
Thanks for her NAME!
A 32 year career! I beat her by 3 - did 35 years of nursing and it sadly did me in - had 8 knee surgeries and 3 back surgeries along the way and still need about 6 more orthopedic surgeries!
That landing move was killer
Honestly doper dismount that you see today imo
I thpught the girl would keep on flying.
Just imagined myself in that breaking into two halfs
Never seen a landing like this before 😍😍
Entrance too.
Her and Olga are my two favs to watch, their movements seem so effortless and as if they're light as feathers🙌🏽💯

Amazing
Looked like she flew off like Superman taking off into the air 😅
I had to watch it like 5 times… she did a 360 at the same time
Olga Kirbut méritait la première place
This is like watching moving art. It’s really elegant and beautiful to watch, like ballet on the bars. So graceful. I feel like we have taken the art out of gymnastics. It’s now how many twists can you do. It lost grace.
I had to watch that twice. She came off that spring board, shot through the bars in a twist then dismounted in a phenominal way. Uppin the game

I think the comment was intended as "move over."
I’m so flabbergasted by that dismount, it looked so effortless, weightless, and smooth af!! I feel like the uneven bars are more power focused rather than grace and fluidity
Yes! But that entry!! 🤯
I’m flabbergasted by the mount!!!!!!
That's basically how I get out of bed in the morning
Amazing how she made it look effortless knowing the timing, strength and precision it required.
I love the little jingle noises as she peacefully did her routine
It’s the finish for me. She did all that crazy flips and whatnot but exited out of the bars like it was nothing and with such elegance 🙌🏽🔥
I feel so guilty for appreciating this incredible performance knowing the sacrifices she made to make it possible. Gymnast don't perform at this level anymore because it comes at great cost to their bodies. It was truly AMAZING to witness such power, and discipline, combined with grace and elegance.
The casual bounce over the lower bar to get to the top is insane. I know there's a spring board but still, she just flew and instantly mastered her own momentum. Wild 😍

graceful as a cat
I thought that was super impressive too, she makes it look easy
i didnt even catch that i had to go and rewatch it. how completely natural it looked that i didnt even notice anything out of the ordinary. like another user said, she made it look incredibly easy!
Everything looked casual
I enjoy and appreciate the most that there's just her and the bars and no cheap pop music like we have it nowadays. That's so pure and undisturbing. Love it.
That dismount😮!!! Whoa!!!!! This whole routine is phenomenal, and perfectly executed!
Although Olga Korbut did it more clean and perfectly ❤👌
Incredible! So elegant & graceful too. Looks like a dance

i still find the uneven bars of yesteryear far more outstanding and amazing than what they seem to be doing today, I do know that some of the routines that olga or nadia did were banned but holy moly these girls are out of this world,
Not just that, but they've changed the apparatus. So not only are some of the moves in those classic routines illegal now, but would be impossible since the standard has changed the height and distance of the bars.

I think it’s truly amazing how the only thing you can hear during her routine is the bars considering comps now days are so loud. But back then when someone was performing it was silent
Incredibly creative and innovative routine. Level of difficulty is off the charts; and yet, her execution is flawless and seemingly effortless. Far better than anything the current gymnasts are doing today.

That was probably the most beautiful things I’ve ever watched. Spectacular athleticism
It makes me so made when today’s gymnasts are called out to be the best there has ever been. That haven’t seen the best there has ever been so how can they say that. These ladies back then didn’t have all the fancy springs, smaller bars and softer support cushions when they fell. They didn’t have all the sport enhancing materials they have today. They just went out and did it. Today’s young adults just don’t know how awesome it was to be raised in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

What in the world- I've seen most of these moves before as someone whose been involved with the sport for most of my life, but I've never seen that back hip circle into a horizontal 1/2 turn over the bar. I dont know what the heck that move is called but I love it and I hope a modern gymnast somewhere puts one in their routine because that looked so unique!
The bars are further apart now than back in that time, so some moves are impossible.
Yeah, I don't think that's possible anymore.
Quite a few of these moves were made impossible to compete due to changes in the event.
