The Movie is called "American Me". But they got a lot of things wrong in the movie. Real gang members died because of the movie and James Olmos. That rape in the beginning never happened.

It wasn't ment to be 100% correct byt two thing they took offense to the rape scene and the fact in the movie they killed their own guy which didn't happen.

The term "Cholo" didn't come around until the late 60s early 70s. Before that they were "Pachucos" wearing Zoot Suits going back to the late 30s. The discrimination they were referring to had to do with the status quo - White VS Mexican.

Simone..the Pachuco life and then pinta were where the og mafia began, and the term cholo scene began in 1975,as I was there n the rising of this life, cause the dress code was khakis hairnets muscle shirts creased Pendletons n hush puppies or chucks/Nike cortez were the signature dress style and how you defined a homeboy vato or cholo...damn I'm as old as white fence 😎😅

Actually the term "cholo" came from the Spanish who gave the name to the indigenous men who resisted colonization. This caste system was used throughout Latin America to separate races by European and native ancestry. The term is similar to that of mestizo and castizo...and gangster is a cholos father with more than 3/4ths indigenous ancestry less than 1/4th European

Mexican gangs have been around for over 100 years. The oldest active gang has been around since the 1890s. For some Mexicans joining these gangs is like military families whos children join the military as a passed down tradition. its a way of life. there are a sons locked up with their fathers locked up with their grandfathers from the same gang.
For Mexican gang members getting locked up is like graduating to college/university. in the late 90s, local news & post offices would put out the fbis 10 most wanted list. they had to stop posting these lists because Mexican gang members would commit crimes to make it on the list. Most la eme shot callers & Mexican gang members have no issues being locked up.

@JayrenTv I love what your dad bout us fucked up kids sometimes needing jail.. its just a fucked up system though im almost at the end of a 5 year house arrest that i got lucky for. I had a opiate addiction that was at an insane point and what happened saved me but alot of kids end up in the system and they begin a revolving door process i saw it in just a couple weeks of sleeping and waking up everyday just in jail. Prison has to be way worse you have to prove yourself in ways you dont in jail. For example in the jail i was at (i was 19 btw) 24 now (there were kids in there that i just knew were gonna be back just little things i picked up on) lets say im book smart but a stereotype dad wasnt around and i had the wrong people around, i had mostly musician friends but that kinda changed as i started doing opiates. Now as my house arrest is ending im playing gigs with my band (i played guitar since a kid) and best (drummer) and best of all i can perform with my ankle monitor. Im sorry i ranted just wanted to say hes right its a sad truth, i actually just watched the movie tonight and that brought me here, watching it reminded me how tragic some peoples lives are but alot of what f**k’s us up is just our own choices.

The black program is different when you are in LA county jail black still fight each other you have your moving and grooving card you have your whooping card and you have your rolling car and if a black person comes into county jail and has about 15 enemies or any enemy in general, he has to fight all 15 or fight that one enemy now if a Mexican is arrested and we are in county jail, we cannot fight each other. It is against the rules. We have to stick with each other Against other races, and in prison, it goes the same thing the Mexicans don’t fight each other now blacks it’s different now there’s not that much separation because at the end they follow the black car but they still fight among each other

Lol😂 it was more than a pair of shoes that's started that war that lasted 40+ yrs. Is just that the shoes or the stabbing behind the shoes. Was the straw that broke the camel's back and war broke out. But to say the war was for a pair of shoes. It's ridiculous. But listen much Respect's from Los Angeles. Keep that fire content coming.

That narrator didn't know some of the terms. He pronounced La Eme wrong twice and stated La Cosa Nostra also stood for the combination, when it stands for "this thing of ours" 😂

The Eme was formed in the California prison system and eventually their power grew to other states. You mentioned Chicago when they said Mexican american but it doesn't pertain to mexican Americans outside of California and some parts of the southwest. And when you asked who discriminated against Mexican Americans, it goes back to white people who considered chicano "bloodthirsty like their ancestors." Do a video on Pachucos/Zoot Suits/WorldWar2. That will give you a better understanding of how and why these gangs formed. The navy would land in the port of los angeles before being sent to war int he pacific and they would clash with young chicanos who didn't want to fight the "white man's war." Lots of history

They have a better video, it’s older but it’s on here on UA-cam, type in gangland and they’re of different gangs but you’ll find a better explanation of the Mexican mafia thru that video. This video you watched has a lot of ups and downs
