Lisa went to Barwon Park Mansion over the weekend on a paranormal event hosted by @kynetonparanormal
Barwon Park was built primarily to impress the visiting Duke of Edinburgh as Thomas and Elizabeth Austin felt their original residence was not of the Duke's usual standards. The 42 room mansion was built between 1869-71 which by today's comparison is pretty quick!
A lavish opening night was held where the local dignitaries attended by driving down the long, sweeping driveway in their fine coaches. They danced until the wee hours before departing.
Poor Mr. Austin passed away not 6 months later and his devoted widow Elizabeth stayed in their house until in her 90s peacefully passing away on her sleep.
The Batson family then assumed ownership and continued to live in the mansion until the late 1970s when it was bequeathed to the @nationaltrustvic
The mansion had a peaceful and welcoming feeling and all spirits residing there were fine to have us wandering around each of the rooms.
A lovely spot to visit and spend a lazy Sunday afternoon exploring the many rooms on offer.
