Patrick missed a lot of big shots because he wasn't afraid to take them. He got dunked on a lot because he wasn't afraid to be dunked on. They don't make players like this anymore. Legend!
Patrick Ewing might be the most underrated player of all time. Never had a fantastic supporting cast. Always productive. Team always contended. Great on both ends. Just played at the wrong time.
Absolutely correct! Ewing was the only knick that i liked and respected because i rooted for the bulls as a kid back then and hated the Knicks. But now i feel bad for the Knicks damn your team owner and management same for my bulls we have nothing ro cheer about this season but whomever get the top pick in the draft will get Mt. Zion.
Irish67 the way I look at it. He had a terrible supporting cast especially on the offensive end. If Ewing had had someone like Reggie Miller or Clyde Drexler, I think he definitely would have won a title.
Loved Ewing, my favorite player of all time, maybe in any sport. A 7-footer with a finesse game, speed, agility, and also power. There wasn't anything he couldn't do.
Patrick Ewing did almost what Hakeem did stat wise on bad knees. He got injured badly early on and the NBA never saw what a healthy knees Ewing could do. He would have been faster, gotten more pts, steals, blocks.
Ewing was an excellent player! I really enjoyed him and the other Knicks in the '90s. I'm glad he was inducted into the Hall of Fame! Well deserved honor.
Thank u 4 posting. So great to watch. Saw Ewing play at the garden in 94 and I'm sad so many dominant big men have disappeared from the NBA these days. No Robinsons, Olajuwons, Kareems, Ewings like before.
+JT Hunter you're legitimately a dumb shit. If we adjust his numbers to today, including the percentages of his era compared to today, it'd look like this for his '89-'90 season: 25.5 points 11.0 rebounds 2.6 assists 3.7 blocks 0.9 steals .529 FG% .775 FT% Not as good as originally, but he would be certainly considered for All-NBA 1st team.
Well done. Ewing was business; he took pride in his position, quality at both ends of the floor. On defense 90's Knicks were piranha in the paint. Ewing is an albatross on the dunk, also like a tidal wave.
I can't believe the amount of people who disrespect Ewing. He is a top 25 player. People say he choked in big moments, but at least he didn't shy away from them
+unity for all peace brother Most underrated? No. Most underrated Centers are Hakeem Olajuwon, Moses Malone, Robert Parish, Alonzo Mourning, & Willis Reed.
One of the all time best. Thanks for posting video. A guy who made New York a contender every year without much of a supporting cast. I truly feel people forget how great Ewing was.
I hate how people try to play Ewing about getting dunked on by Pippen & Jordan, but rarely speak on how Ewing dunked on them & how many of their shots he blocked.
Ewing truly deserved a Championship. More so than Barkley, Malone... no offense to those guys. Patrick was a true ALPHA during those Knicks years. Didn’t back down and had a real complete game. A true intimidator
When I talk defense. This is who comes to mind. Thank god the knicks got this young player ( Mitchell Robinson ) as a center. Dude is showing defense like crazy. Feel like if he bulks up more and learns a lot more. He has potential to be a Ewing. That’s why I have much respect for the spurs and popavich, they always focused on defense. That’s why they’ve always been able to secure a playoff spot for so many consecutive years.
great post great post to this day I do not understand why he doesn't get more credit he was the best center of the 90s he was just stuck on a bad team he made a bad team great and he deserves a lot more credit the gentle giant was absolutely the goat in the 90s
I forget how great he was in his prime. My greatest Knick disappointment was to never see him play with Bernard King. I just knew that was gonna be something to see.
Out of all the centers in the 90s, Ewing did the best against Hakeem even though he was still bested, he took the Rockets 7 games and almost beat them. That was something Robinson couldn't do and something Shaq could not do. Ewing is a top 25 player of all time, but he's a top 5 player to never win a ring.
the reason Pat never won a title was the bad energy associated w/ how the Knicks got that #1 pick. you cant have stuff like that happen and expect a good outcome
I just remember him being soooooo slow . At Georgetown and his rookie year he appeared to have some spring to his step but after that it was like he had knee problems his whole career
sedaberry makes me sad to when I think of NBA today not just Knicks! It was so much passion, defense..physical game and actually was so much dramatically until last second! Most of the game didn’t know the winner until lost shot.
not a huge fan but I loved when he'd hunt down blocked shots, protecting "his" area down low, kinda a lost art and even a feeling of responsibility to do it anymore.
This man was an embodiment of NYC during the time he played here..passionate, strong, and energetic..I miss the game the way it was played..I don’t watch now..it has become soft, silly, with a bunch of guys throwing up 3’s..can’t touch anyone without a foul!
I wish modern basketball still emphasized the Big Man. Today, Big Men are a non-issue and non-effective. Back in the day, guys like Ewing, Hakeem, Robinson, Shaq were SUPERSTARS!
best center ever. no center can make jump shot like him. . no championships because he was alone in team . robinson got duncan . jordan got pippen. malone got stockton. olajuwon got maxwell. but who was there for ewing ! starks made 2-18 shots in game 7 but he was a good shooting guard. check my channel to see what the classic knicks was like.
Olajuwon was all by himself bro what are you talking about? It's common knowledge that Olajuwon outplayed and almost dominated Ewing 95% of the time! But I do consider Ewing better then Robinson and Shaq tho!
come on dude. we all know he didn't dominate ewing. both of them were so tough in those playoff games . but in game 7 hakeem was a little bit better than ewing. ewing my not be better than hakeem in that year. but in 92 and 93 he was better than the dream
in the late 80s and early 90s Ewing was better, but then in the mid 90s Olajuwon was a lot better than Pat. His knees worsened every year, and Olajuwon matured his game in his 30s.
Why couldn't I have been born in the 80s instead of the late 90s so I could've grown up watching 90s basketball. I can't stand today's NBA because it's all about who can score more threes instead of who's gonna set the tone and physically dominate the other team
For the record, Ewing hit many game winners and clutch shots. Ewing DID play with some great talent, also: Allan Houston regularly outplayed Reggie Miller, for example, and, in my opinion, is one of the best pure shooters of all time. He also had Mark Jackson, Doc Rivers, John Starks, Sprewell, of course, Anthony Mason and Charles Oakley. Fact is that Houston Rockets could easily have lost the 94 championship to the Knicks. It was very close. Ewing also would have, in my opinion beaten the 99 Spurs, alongside Sprewell and Houston, if he wasn't hacked and taken out of action by Andrew Lang - during the Hawks series that he played so well in. Insofar as Jordan being in the way, it can be argued that with Allan Houston as a #1 or #2 option, depending on your assessment, Ewing finally overcomes the Bulls in 98, when the Ward - PJ Brown debacle got the Knicks eliminated by the Miami Heat. A lot of stuff, unless you are an all time great at your position, e.g., Shaq or Jordan, is about having the stars align for you, at the right time.
YEA PATRICK WAS ALL AROUND PLAYER PERIMETER SHOOTING WAS AWESOME FROM THE BASE LINE OH MY GREAT FREE THROW SHOOTER AND REBOUNDS MY GOD DOUBLE DOUBLE EVERY NIGHT LOL HE JUMP OVER RODMAN AND INCREDIBLE SERIES WITH THE BULLS YEA MAKE HIM COACH
Patrick missed a lot of big shots because he wasn't afraid to take them. He got dunked on a lot because he wasn't afraid to be dunked on. They don't make players like this anymore. Legend!
Well said. Absolute warrior!
jmarcguy made you proud to be a Knicks fan.
JKolman1179 perfect statement to sum up Ewing.
JKolman1179 hell yea
SHINE BOY GKB we all are man
played his entire career with a bad knee!!! but his big heart and warrior mentality still made him one of the best center of all time!!
mediocre??? hahaha.. he is a hall of famer fool
he sure was a hall of famer!!
Woody...were you born in 02' or something?!
Patrick Ewing, is one of the most dominants centers in the NBA history, only the magic of Michael Jordan stopped his race to NBA championship.
Carlos Ernesto Custodio Cadena And Hakeem...and Shaq...and Tim Duncan >.>
Charles Perkins except Shaquille O'Neal, he plays alone, in the end of the reign of the others. And never had opponent.
+Charles Perkins when did shaq stop Ewing exactly?
Shaq was a mistake. I misremembered that's who Orlando went through to go to the finals in '95 but Indy beat NY in 7 and Orlando beat Indy.
I think OlAjuwon had something to say bout that
A big strong center good shooter, defender AND he was deadly at the free throw line.
Zion.
I feel like as years go on he will be more and more underrated. As a bulls I’ll never undervalue the legends of the 80s and 90s
Irish67 the way I look at it. He had a terrible supporting cast especially on the offensive end. If Ewing had had someone like Reggie Miller or Clyde Drexler, I think he definitely would have won a title.
omieg89 totally. Running with like Oakley and Smith next to him clogging the paint. Just a reliable outside shooter away from making the leap.
Irish67 and Houston and Sprewell came too late when he was way out of his prime
Loved Ewing, my favorite player of all time, maybe in any sport. A 7-footer with a finesse game, speed, agility, and also power. There wasn't anything he couldn't do.
He couldn't shoot 3Pointers well.
i will always feel love for Ewing
One of the most underrated players of all time.
He dominated the inside post for the entire 90s .A remarkable force to be reckon with. Hoya Destroya Big Pat !!!
The Dream would like to have a word with you.
Patrick Ewing did almost what Hakeem did stat wise on bad knees.
He got injured badly early on and the NBA never saw what a healthy knees Ewing could do.
He would have been faster, gotten more pts, steals, blocks.
jon koth Yeah he played pretty much all his career with a bad knee and was still putting up amazing numbers
He dominated except for Hakeem, Robinson, Shaq, Mourning, hell even Smits lol.
Ewing was an excellent player! I really enjoyed him and the other Knicks in the '90s. I'm glad he was inducted into the Hall of Fame! Well deserved honor.
so athletic, one of the best in history hands down.
don kelvino imagine if he actually had good knees
I have much love for Ewing, definitely my favorite center of all time...he in my top 10 favorite player's of all time🏀🏀🏀🏀
Thank u 4 posting. So great to watch. Saw Ewing play at the garden in 94 and I'm sad so many dominant big men have disappeared from the NBA these days. No Robinsons, Olajuwons, Kareems, Ewings like before.
Thinking man's center. long live cap Ewing!
Probably the best Ewing mix I've watched and wish it was longer! Lol the music is fitting for the warrior that he was #TheBeastintheEast
I'd like to see more of his post up moves. I know dunks are more exciting, but he was good from 5 - 15 too.
Best Knicks player of all time
Nobody can rock a hi-top fade like Ewing
he would dominate today's centers, he could shoot, put it down, block, rebound...
the guy's just a BEAST!
+JT Hunter you're legitimately a dumb shit. If we adjust his numbers to today, including the percentages of his era compared to today, it'd look like this for his '89-'90 season:
25.5 points
11.0 rebounds
2.6 assists
3.7 blocks
0.9 steals
.529 FG%
.775 FT%
Not as good as originally, but he would be certainly considered for All-NBA 1st team.
All we know is he’ll be a god
The great ones could play in any era
Best Knick in franchise history
This man deserved to win at least one ring. Unluckily he never played in a team at his level.
I get emotional watching this. My favorite Knick ever!
People say he choked in big moments, but at least he didn't shy away from them
OMG you need a million likes for this video. Awesome
People forget about Patrick Ewing
he's the most underrated center of all times, Big Pat! Hoya Destroya
+unity for all peace brother Most underrated? No. Most underrated Centers are Hakeem Olajuwon, Moses Malone, Robert Parish, Alonzo Mourning, & Willis Reed.
+SportsInfoFan Hakeem is not underrated at all.
+SportsInfoFan moses and hakeem are not underrated ... common there 2k ratings are 96 and 98 people woukd want to play them
***** He is underrated
One of the all time best. Thanks for posting video. A guy who made New York a contender every year without much of a supporting cast. I truly feel people forget how great Ewing was.

Ewing truly deserved a Championship. More so than Barkley, Malone... no offense to those guys. Patrick was a true ALPHA during those Knicks years. Didn’t back down and had a real complete game. A true intimidator
If it wasn't for those bad knees..the sky would have been the limit. I watched him play at Georgetown here in D.C and he could skyrocket!!
Incredible job putting this together!
Loved every minute of this!
Patrick Ewing is the Optimus Prime of the NBA he was a Real leader the heart and soul of the 90s hard nosed style Pat Riley Knicks
what a player, my childhood right there.. first jersey i ever had was a ewing jersey.. legend
In 90s was beautiful to whach a NBA Games
great post great post to this day I do not understand why he doesn't get more credit he was the best center of the 90s he was just stuck on a bad team he made a bad team great and he deserves a lot more credit the gentle giant was absolutely the goat in the 90s
Ewing was something else. Gimme MJ, Ewing, Pip, Larry and Magic for a dream 5on5 pickup team every and anyday of the week. Also Ewing over Shaq always
You forgot Olajuwon, the guy that schooled Ewing and shaq.
Olajuwon hardly schooled Ewing. It was very back and forth with those two. The Dream takes Shaq to school anytime though; I'll agree on that.
Kobe, Hakeem, Lebron, AI, Duncan
Pistol Pete, Dwade, Kareem, the admiral, curry
Moses Malone, Karl Malone, Walt Frazier, Clyde the glide, shaq
The NBA is so different today. I miss the days of powerful, dominant, superstar centers.
FlexWheeler2nd deandre jordan doesn't get enough credit
He is monster)))
I forget how great he was in his prime. My greatest Knick disappointment was to never see him play with Bernard King. I just knew that was gonna be something to see.
True warrior....Miss guys like him...
The knicks were awesome every year cuz of this guy.
He's from Jamaica but he's totally American what energy strength and will a real sky control man great player
one of my favorites...happy to see him go back home to the Hilltop!!
Long live to our Knick cap number 33!
Imagine him in today's NBA 🤩💯
A legend. One of a kind
Knicks was a feared team at his era.
My favorite player🔥 as hell
I need more!!!! Knicks forever
That was phenomenal. Great job on Ewing.
Love the background music it makes it even more intense
Out of all the centers in the 90s, Ewing did the best against Hakeem even though he was still bested, he took the Rockets 7 games and almost beat them. That was something Robinson couldn't do and something Shaq could not do. Ewing is a top 25 player of all time, but he's a top 5 player to never win a ring.

LEGEND. My names Patrick, and my Jersey number #33.
GREAT HIGHLIGHTS OF PATRICK EWING CARREERS !!!
He dunked with such force and power when he went airborne with the ball ain't know one stopping him
Patrick needed a 2nd star to win NBA titles.Bernard King was suppose to be that guy for NY Knicks
Ewing the fucking greatest center to ever play this game. A true warrior. A knick for life. The last of a dead breed. A true down and dirty center
ONE OF MY IDOLS
Always be that humble kid from Kingston, Jamaica
2:52 Damn it !
ONE OF MY IDOLS AND HEROES
Nice footage, all lotta those blks & poster dunks kinda get lost in memory, remember this GREAT Knick 🐲
Ewing used to be the leader and the Face of the knicks back then" his defense and blocking is more crazier than his jump shots"
The greatest New York knicks player ever
I just remember him being soooooo slow . At Georgetown and his rookie year he appeared to have some spring to his step but after that it was like he had knee problems his whole career
one of my idols and heroes
Please Phil Jackson, bring back big 33 to coach,, lets get this guy the ring he deserves!!
i'm agree, bring him (Ewing), or bring Jeff Van Gundy back.

quan baby lol. How's that working out 7 months later?
LOL
one of my idols
I knew this was gonna be good the moment I heard Black Blades start up.
This just makes me sad when I think of today’s Knicks. I miss the good days.
sedaberry makes me sad to when I think of NBA today not just Knicks! It was so much passion, defense..physical game and actually was so much dramatically until last second! Most of the game didn’t know the winner until lost shot.
legend forever ewing
Most under rated player..
You don't get on the Dream Team if you can't play.
Legend!
Fantastic player!
Ewing was so agile and quick for a dude of his size.
He had a great touch on his jump shot
my man right here
The King Of New York aka The Big Apple!!!
Second greatest center in the late 80s-90s behind his rival Center Olajuwon.
He was like the early version of Giannis... Jamaican Freak
one of my iols and heros.....
the 90s had the greatest talent in all of basketball, collectively
When it’s Ewing you gotta play epic villian music
not a huge fan but I loved when he'd hunt down blocked shots, protecting "his" area down low, kinda a lost art and even a feeling of responsibility to do it anymore.
These young boys wouldn’t know what to do with Ewing in the NBA today
EWING = The BEAST of the EAST
OLAJUWON = The BEST of the WEST
This man was an embodiment of NYC during the time he played here..passionate, strong, and energetic..I miss the game the way it was played..I don’t watch now..it has become soft, silly, with a bunch of guys throwing up 3’s..can’t touch anyone without a foul!
0:31 my two fav centers...rip big Mo...
I wish modern basketball still emphasized the Big Man. Today, Big Men are a non-issue and non-effective. Back in the day, guys like Ewing, Hakeem, Robinson, Shaq were SUPERSTARS!
All time fav besides Jordan
best center ever. no center can make jump shot like him. . no championships because he was alone in team .

I am the biggest Ewing fan there is, but Olajuwon was better than Patrick.
in the late 80s and early 90s Ewing was better, but then in the mid 90s Olajuwon was a lot better than Pat. His knees worsened every year, and Olajuwon matured his game in his 30s.
mandodelossantos2 check the stats on Robinson and retract this ridiculous statement.
Dude was a tank. I wish I could’ve seen him play.
The boss of New York 😎
Why couldn't I have been born in the 80s instead of the late 90s so I could've grown up watching 90s basketball. I can't stand today's NBA because it's all about who can score more threes instead of who's gonna set the tone and physically dominate the other team
Патрик Юинг -Лучший ! )
