Very eye opening. Thank you. I discovered the emotional immaturity prevalent in my family - father, siblings - when my mom was dying of cancer. It took the singular focus of caring for her and meeting her daily needs to realize that my family had no ability to function in a real crisis without anger, bitterness, control, drama, guilt, and martyrdom. I'm forever changed by the awakening. ❤
Thank You Jim for taking the time to explain the nuances. As someone who was raised by an emotionally immature father, I'm trying to grow past my upbringing, build deeper friendships, become a better communicator, More sensitive towards others, and become a more productive member of society. This video was very helpful. Thank You again, Jim!
Sometimes we end up being the emotionally immature ones.. I look back at my own life and with compassion know I dealt with certain things emotionally immaturely but recognizing that helps
This was an extremely helpful video! I would appreciate a future video on how to end a relationship with an emotionally immature person. I don’t understand why I’ve been having such a hard time with this! I seem to still want to make this person happy even though he often treats me terribly
This is perhaps my immaturity speaking but my experience is that most people are emotionally immature. I feel like pretty much everywhere I go that there are many, many people who ruin things and make life unnecessarily difficult and even tragic. I am perhaps an avoidant individual because I hate the drama and tend to want to keep to myself, especially around people who seem to be in the same trouble all the time. Perhaps the immature ones are simply the ones making the most noise. I get it. I was one of those people for decades. Not necessarily literal noise (sometimes) but more like interruptions in the basic flow that aren't exactly natural : interruptions that don't have to happen because they are silly, childish and way over the top. Interruptions that have repercussions in other people's lives that I did not see because I evaluated the people and situations with my feelings, alone (and then blamed the others 100%). If I can draw my dying breath on earth as a loving adult I think that I will have succeeded. That's my aim : one responsible breath that isn't dramatic and all-about-me. Just one.
If You came into this deep u derstanding of thyself and of the "others" then you are already mature and have reached to a conscious level, and for all those point a person with emotional intelligence and a LOVE in their hearth and in evert breath of their taken is of love. 💜💫 God bless You are loved in this infinite we call life
This sheds light on the behavior I keep seeing in online videos. So many people usually under 30 years old, confusing their emotions with factual reality. Could yhou please connect this phenomenon with the epidemic of narcissism?
Narcissists are emotionally immature people. And they experience affective realism. I try never to generalize people based on their age, though. The epidemic of narcissism in our culture is not about age. It's about entitlement, grandiosity and instant gratification, among other things. One of the most recognizable narcissists in our culture is currently 78 years old.
There’s a huge difference in lacking it one time or another, and being emotionally immature. One is constant. That’s a whole other thing and anyone growing up with narcissists will know that from the traumas they’ve been dealt.
12 year old I got to know through my now fiancé has recently been diagnosed with CD . He is the baby of 3 kids and they were catering to his every need 🥲 he’s a timebomb and hurts animals 😢😢😢
Great video and information. My only feedback is to stop those electronic sounds and audio reminders as I listen... You can always add the reminder in the middle, beginning or end... Those sounds are taking away from the essence of your message
I found the information extremely helpful in understanding my parents, and plan to watch more of your videos on UA-cam, but I found the background music and chimes to be very distracting. Anything you can do to reduce or eliminate the music would be greatly appreciated.
hey jim....great video...very helpful....am going through having to go no contact with my family.....emotional abuse is no joke.....please remove the music....it competes with your voice....thanks
Thank you very much. It's so soothing and comforting listening to you ❤

Emotionally immature people apparently don’t know they are immature.
So helpful thank you!!

Narcissists are immature
Thanks again Brillon. You are the best. I wish my therapist took this as critical and severe as you do.

Same🤦🏻♀️
Love your comment about compassion. A good reminder for me.

Thats me.... Shame my up-bringing was so dysfunctional, I might have learnt emotional maturity

Poor schools. We learned about relativism and logical fallacies. You have to get a Nancy Pearcey book for what used to be in Philo 101.
Let's face it, we've all f**ked in this area, at one time or another. 😮
And that's one of the best things you can admit and accept in order to improve your emotionally immaturity in the long run :)

Report him to the police, demonic shit, Animals are innocent creatures..Go no contact.
Those kids weren’t the best representation of narcissism I think,..
This was awesome!!!!! Thank you

Kidding. 😊
what if there is no such thing as "true self"?
So all Americans?? 😂
That's what I was thinking.., it seems so hopeless...
45% of all the voting people at least,.. 😔
With the music and loud bells on, it is very distractive to listen to your video, it is too much.
