Matt's right about football today. In the past it was about footballers not athletes. Now it's athletes trying to be footballers.

I think the football is better now generally speaking . Watch Man City when they are on their game and it’s incredible to watch and they’d beat any team from the days when ale Tissier played.

@@christopherwhittaker2620only Man City watch arsenal, chelsea Man Utd and Liverpool play and half the time the players can’t even cross a ball intelligently to a player just hit and hope. Most of football today is just pace and power no technical ability whatsoever.

@@christopherwhittaker2620To a certain extent I agree with you, however I find it very difficult to finish watching man city games. The best way I can put it is watch the Manchester City goal when they are playing at their best and then compare it to A goal from teams of the past, and I don’t think there’s any competition to be honest. @@christopherwhittaker2620 I think man city is much more enjoyable when u watch them I guess. I think what I'm trying to relay is that, flair and skill is dead in football. Matt is bang on about so much, he’s one of very few people telling it how it is, as for football VAR and PLAY ACTING is infuriating, and he’s right the Ref still doesn’t book or send the player off for it which is baffling to me ,and the really sad thing is there’s no longer any real character’s in the game, it’s changed so much, it’s because very sanitised, and that’s boring 😖

But it's okay for Gary Lineker? Because Gary's political views are in line with BBC and Government agendas?
      Gary Neville as well.
It's either acceptable to have a political opinion or its not.... can't start cancelling and sacking people for their personal opinion and allowing others to spout theirs all over the place if theirs I'd considered acceptable to whoever is deciding what opinion is acceptable.
The FA showed political support for LGBTQ but the second they were threatened to have Harry Kane banned for one match if he wire a rainbow armband they dropped the opinion... showing how much they really think of it.... they also lit up Wembley in Ukraine colours but wouldn't do it for Israel after October 7th because they're shit scared of aggressive Muslims.
The exact same reason they shit themselves in Qatar and dropped the rainbow armband.
And the Police stand there allowing Muslims to shout vile abuse and hatred towards Jews on the street right in front of them and do nothing but if a fan shouts a homophobic slur in a stadium they kick his door off at 6am 24 hours later, have him in court and his name splattered in papers and on BBC sport...
The police, government and all authorities are frightened to death of upsetting Muslims here....
To such a point they literally allow them to abuse everyone else

When I was twenty in the 70s I wanted to play out from the back and use wingbacks

    • @FortValance
      @FortValance 7 місяців тому

With all due respect, in the 70s there was no passback rule and far too risky to play out from the back on those heavy muddy pitches.
Playing out from the back is only possible now because the pitches are flat, fast and watered... trying to play that way on bobbly muddy pitches would have just been a disaster in those days.
Even until the early to mid 90s it wouldn't have worked.
Look at those heavy muddy pitches back then where the ball sticks. Come on mate?
There was a reason gks kicked it long back then.... the ball wouldn't reach a full back along the surface most of the season

I have learned from my encounters with psychopaths that they have a tendency to do spiteful, childish things. You can make them your enemy for any reason. You may have a slightly different opinion or just say or do something that only an immature person would be upset by. They also do not understand sarcasm. They take it literally. I believe many leadership positions have been taken over by these characters. It tends to lead to organizations losing revenue, good and hardworking staff and failing to function properly.

Yes. 'Be Nice'. I try to be kind to everyone I meet. It makes me feel good. Too many people are alone. Whether I'm picking up trash from a street or simply asking a shop assistant how their day is going? We all carry a message. Especially the elderly who don't have anybody to talk to.

Complete dinosaur. Today's players are 100% better technically right across the pitch. Every player in every position can control and pass better these days and are professional athletes at the same time. The 'headless chicken' analogy just isn't true. He's just bitter because he was lazy. Imagine him if he'd had worked hard as well. Southampton would have been so much better. At least people like Carragher have grown with the times and realise the modern game is so much better. Bitter man who is stuck in a time warp. If he thinks the modern game doesn't have chaos any more treat him to a ticket to Anfield.

Matt was a class player and also an even better man for what he stands for. His opinion on football today is bang on. 2024 is the year of the truth. We’re tired of the lies and garbage being fed down our throats. Football today is rubbish compared to the yesteryears. The peak was early 90s-2000s. The entertainers in the game are dead.

I agree.... BUT.... I think Matt Le Tissier would struggle in today's football because of his lack of pace, tracking back, fitness and discipline......
Loved watching him, his goals were all worldies.... but he'd never get that amount of time on the ball these days

They seem to forget very quickly where they come from Jokers

He wasn’t. I grew up in the 90’s. He was wanted by all the top clubs. His goals was ridiculous, he chose himself to stay at Southampton. P.s he was very lazy aswell…which went against him. Not underrated at all tho.

Matt Le Tissier is a fan's player. And pro football players can only be pros because of the fans. Legend and should have been a 70 - 90 cap England player. 443 games and 161 goals career at a single club. Consistently great. Only a handful of players have a resumé like he does.

I was football daft, as a young kid and a teenager i played 4 games a week snd trained on the other games. I stopped watching football 20 years ago. Got bored watching balls kicked out the park to waste time. Talentless players who are just athletes. Fans cheering when their teams win a corner. The same rubbish every week when we hear. We need to take our chances. What a load of drivel. The same players will continue to miss chances. You can coach all you want, practise shooting, but a player will reach his maximum ability and if he cant shoot he cant shoot. Matt is right. I want to be entertained. People pay a lot of money, they work hard all week, then you hear managers say. Im not hear to entertain . Well im not here to spend hard earned money watching drivel. Another thing, theres nothing wrong with a one club player. They will always be put on a pedestal by their clubs fans. Better than the ones who kiss the jersey then a year later go somewhere else and kiss another jersey

Interesting interview Ben, but nothing on the content of what Matt believes in. Just everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Sounds great, but with that comes responsibility if you are in the public eye. You also appeared to agree with him that the things he voiced have since been proved correct. He was a decent footballer, but believes the world, and Sky are against him, and on that alone he is probably correct.

"Underrated as a player" is an understatement. Technically, he is the best English player in history. Had he played for Liverpool or Man U, he would have had 200 caps. And I'm not a bitter Southampton fan, I'm a lifelong Aston Villa supporter. 😊

Excellent chat. So many people are like sheep and will believe everything the BBC etc will tell them.
He is also 100% right about VAR, there is far too much nepotism, the VAR officials are mates of the on field officials. The VAR should be 100% independent. Keith Hackett former head of PGMOL said this after the pathetic showing by the officials in the Newcastle vs Arsenal game.
