Would Matt ever consider being the next England Manager, because i could see an attacking and free flowing team using the skills of all players in their natural environment. he would let players play football the proper way.
Great conversation. Love the comments during the conversation about Jamie Carragher about people trying to deny things because "they were AI generated". In Carragher's case, it was NI (no intelligence) generated.

You may have a slightly different opinion or just say or do something that only an immature person would be upset by. They also do not understand sarcasm. They take it literally. Its worrying how how divided we all are now... and there seems to be no room for debate anymore 🤔. You're a top bloke Matt 👍
I'm 43 years of age now and I look back to the 1990s football and footballers they were exciting days. As someone said "the problem with the good old days is that nobody tells you that at the time". I wouldn't swap the era of my childhood and teenage years with today's Times and I'm probably biased but at the same time never lived with rose tinted glasses.
No you're right. Check out some games played back then and you will see it was much exciting. It was all about attack. If a player went down screaming like a girl back then his own players would rip into him. Modern football IMHumbleO is slow and often boring.
@@foolonthehill731 It is very difficult to say if Matt would last in today's climate because, as he mentions in the podcast, players are consigned to play in systems and that can sometimes restrict a player's ability. Gordon Hill for Man Utd, in the 1970s, is a classic example of somebody who was told to track back more under new manager, Dave Sexton but this unfortunately affected his game.
@@damienabbott9805 Matt & Gazza, and those kind of instinctive players would be in my team any day, they can produce the unexpected if you know what I mean, they're not 'robots' so to speak?

Yes. 'Be Nice'. I try to be kind to everyone I meet. It makes me feel good. Too many people are alone. Whether I'm picking up trash from a street or simply asking a shop assistant how their day is going? We all carry a message. Especially the elderly who don't have anybody to talk to.
Complete dinosaur. Today's players are 100% better technically right across the pitch. Every player in every position can control and pass better these days and are professional athletes at the same time. The 'headless chicken' analogy just isn't true. He's just bitter because he was lazy. Imagine him if he'd had worked hard as well. Southampton would have been so much better. At least people like Carragher have grown with the times and realise the modern game is so much better. Bitter man who is stuck in a time warp. If he thinks the modern game doesn't have chaos any more treat him to a ticket to Anfield.
You can’t speak out against this Tory government particularly during Covid, they were very sensitive and behaved like a bunch of snowflakes. Speaking truth to power is frowned upon in right wing Britain
Matt was a class player and also an even better man for what he stands for. His opinion on football today is bang on. 2024 is the year of the truth. We’re tired of the lies and garbage being fed down our throats. Football today is rubbish compared to the yesteryears. The peak was early 90s-2000s. The entertainers in the game are dead.
I agree.... BUT.... I think Matt Le Tissier would struggle in today's football because of his lack of pace, tracking back, fitness and discipline...... Loved watching him, his goals were all worldies.... but he'd never get that amount of time on the ball these days
Loved the 'chaos vs control' conversation. Probably why theres always been a Messi v Ronaldo debate, thats another 'Chaos (Ronaldo) vs Control (Messi) situation.
Always like Matt great footballer, not flash at all well balanced, person can sit down have a good chat about anything not like crap overrated players today no class at all thinking there better than you and funnily quite a lot of professional ballers, are from council estates. They seem to forget very quickly where they come from Jokers
He wasn’t. I grew up in the 90’s. He was wanted by all the top clubs. His goals was ridiculous, he chose himself to stay at Southampton. P.s he was very lazy aswell…which went against him. Not underrated at all tho.
Matt Le Tissier is a fan's player. And pro football players can only be pros because of the fans. Legend and should have been a 70 - 90 cap England player. 443 games and 161 goals career at a single club. Consistently great. Only a handful of players have a resumé like he does.
I was football daft, as a young kid and a teenager i played 4 games a week snd trained on the other games. I stopped watching football 20 years ago. Got bored watching balls kicked out the park to waste time. Talentless players who are just athletes. Fans cheering when their teams win a corner. The same rubbish every week when we hear. We need to take our chances. What a load of drivel. The same players will continue to miss chances. You can coach all you want, practise shooting, but a player will reach his maximum ability and if he cant shoot he cant shoot. Matt is right. I want to be entertained. People pay a lot of money, they work hard all week, then you hear managers say. Im not hear to entertain . Well im not here to spend hard earned money watching drivel. Another thing, theres nothing wrong with a one club player. They will always be put on a pedestal by their clubs fans. Better than the ones who kiss the jersey then a year later go somewhere else and kiss another jersey
Interesting interview Ben, but nothing on the content of what Matt believes in. Just everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Sounds great, but with that comes responsibility if you are in the public eye. You also appeared to agree with him that the things he voiced have since been proved correct. He was a decent footballer, but believes the world, and Sky are against him, and on that alone he is probably correct.
One of the greatest ever footballers on the planet in my opinion……the planet that is course flat if you believe any of the tosh he spouts these days! 😂
"Underrated as a player" is an understatement. Technically, he is the best English player in history. Had he played for Liverpool or Man U, he would have had 200 caps. And I'm not a bitter Southampton fan, I'm a lifelong Aston Villa supporter. 😊
Says it all that a great player like Alan Ball who covered every blade of grass on the pitch during a game, knew the value of giving the star player freedom to do his job.
Hahaha, you obviously didn't watch him play live! To compare him with Alan Ball, and talk about covering every blade of grass, is the most stupid comment ever!
Excellent chat. So many people are like sheep and will believe everything the BBC etc will tell them. He is also 100% right about VAR, there is far too much nepotism, the VAR officials are mates of the on field officials. The VAR should be 100% independent. Keith Hackett former head of PGMOL said this after the pathetic showing by the officials in the Newcastle vs Arsenal game.
Well here I am thanks to algorithms. Glad I am because I love what ex-proffesional footballers have to say. Especially someone so gifted with talent like Matt. As a player I thought he was exceptional. He made the game look beautiful and easy. A magnificent player.

@@polaris7122 proper humans do what they want when they want, just like his football. The bookies are the biggest thieves and I will always cheer anyone who gets one over them
@@KingKong-ee8hc hahahaha, but he didn't, he couldn't even kick the ball out of play properly! Hahahahaha!
@@polaris7122 liked the crack..cant blame him
@@polaris7122bro never watching him play
3 things matt le tissier cannot do
1) Miss a penalty
2) Score a poor or average goal
3) Digest bullshit
He missed a penalty
@@bobolinho1
Only the one I think though
Win medals
Play in Europe
Play International football
Matt comes across as a well-balanced and intelligent person...
Matt gets a lot of stick in the media for his in my opinon common sense views. He puts his views over in a very calm and polite way but for some reason the mainstream are out to nail him. Its worrying how how divided we all are now... and there seems to be no room for debate anymore 🤔. You're a top bloke Matt 👍
Absolutely never been a footy fan but Matt is such a nice chap, insightful and interesting. Great stuff
This bloke tells the truth, country is woke. Wot our country back. Speak the truth.
😂
I'm 43 years of age now and I look back to the 1990s football and footballers they were exciting days. As someone said "the problem with the good old days is that nobody tells you that at the time". I wouldn't swap the era of my childhood and teenage years with today's Times and I'm probably biased but at the same time never lived with rose tinted glasses.
No you're right. Check out some games played back then and you will see it was much exciting. It was all about attack. If a player went down screaming like a girl back then his own players would rip into him. Modern football IMHumbleO is slow and often boring.
Matt was the best English player of the 90s. Had he been Dutch, French or Spanish I’m sure he would have won in excess of 100 international caps.
He was a luxury player without the speed. Very talented but wouldn't last two minutes in today's football.
@maxwellboyne2770 Yeah right like Darren “Sicknote” Anderson.
20 mins in and this is a great interview so far
Most important thing I've got from this gem of podcast is
As HUMANS we have difference of opinion let's not let that be a factor for us not to live together in harmony no matter what we disagree on, come to common terms n disagree RESPECTFULLY but unfortunately today pple call each other names n negativity sales
Sad times of life/football
YOU n I can change that by start being Kind to each other today
Yes. 'Be Nice'. I try to be kind to everyone I meet. It makes me feel good. Too many people are alone. Whether I'm picking up trash from a street or simply asking a shop assistant how their day is going? We all carry a message. Especially the elderly who don't have anybody to talk to.
@@mooseing22 true 👏
Complete dinosaur. Today's players are 100% better technically right across the pitch. Every player in every position can control and pass better these days and are professional athletes at the same time. The 'headless chicken' analogy just isn't true. He's just bitter because he was lazy. Imagine him if he'd had worked hard as well. Southampton would have been so much better. At least people like Carragher have grown with the times and realise the modern game is so much better. Bitter man who is stuck in a time warp. If he thinks the modern game doesn't have chaos any more treat him to a ticket to Anfield.
Stuff the government . Stuff their opinions . This world is shite now in so many ways . This country is lost . Wish Matt was still playing
What a top honest guy ❤
No, you hav'nt gone mad, there is repitition.. you can skip to 47:01.
i could listen to Matt all day, a proper pro with such immense talent and a stand up guy unlike bellends like gary lineker.
Interesting and intelligent guy who gave us all some magic moments in his football career. Great interview.
Loved the 'chaos vs control' conversation. Probably why theres always been a Messi v Ronaldo debate, thats another 'Chaos (Ronaldo) vs Control (Messi) situation.
Spot on there aarmccarthy
Exclusive? The man hasn’t said no to any media outlet since 2018
Always like Matt great footballer, not flash at all well balanced, person can sit down have a good chat about anything not like crap overrated players today no class at all thinking there better than you and funnily quite a lot of professional ballers, are from council estates. They seem to forget very quickly where they come from Jokers
One of the most underrated EPL players ever!!
Indeed!
He wasn’t. I grew up in the 90’s. He was wanted by all the top clubs. His goals was ridiculous, he chose himself to stay at Southampton. P.s he was very lazy aswell…which went against him. Not underrated at all tho.
Shouldneverha egone
Cancelled for being awake to how things really are.
great interview but poor editing and sound quality
Brilliant interview and interviewee
A great interview! Really enjoy you as an interviewer!! You asked some great questions
Thank you very much :)
I’ve got a lot of learning to do in that space but one step at a time.
This was brilliant! New sub.
"Underrated as a player" is an understatement. Technically, he is the best English player in history. Had he played for Liverpool or Man U, he would have had 200 caps. And I'm not a bitter Southampton fan, I'm a lifelong Aston Villa supporter. 😊
Overrated more like
Says it all that a great player like Alan Ball who covered every blade of grass on the pitch during a game, knew the value of giving the star player freedom to do his job.
Hahaha, you obviously didn't watch him play live! To compare him with Alan Ball, and talk about covering every blade of grass, is the most stupid comment ever!
Brilliant of Phil Tufnell to do this interview 😜
You mad sod!!😂😂
Sonia poulton probably the Best pin up girl 👍 and free speaking journalist of our time 👍My grandad would have had that lady painted on the side of his Lancaster Bomber 👍😶♦️❤🙄👍🐒☝🏼
Cry me a river, Matt. F about, find out.
Someone got jabbed LOL
If I were MLT then I wouldn't worry either. Sky were sacking everyone eventually making everything more woke, and therefore he and the others didn't stand a chance.
What a player..he played like the brazilians of yore .. .I wish he was training young kids in the basics...
Matt Le Tissier please come and manage West Ham I like your philosophy about the game it is the opposite of boring Moyse ball.

Matt is right about Pep. He was overshadowed as a player and wants the glory now.
