I am watching this while listening to Grand Funk Railroads ''Shinin On'' on my (at least) 30-year-old Technics SL-D1. I recently had to replace the needle, and it was a breeze. I thought (even if it was still available) that it would cost a fortune, but it was not expensive at all and easy to replace. It seems that there are still a lot of people who listen to vinyl.
Moat any vintage turntable that have been well cared for and serviced will dance all around any of these modern turntables. I would highly recommend looking for a vintage technics, pioneer, micro seiki, marantz
Personally I’d always go down the vintage route - they’re just so well made, and, with a new cartridge and a service will give many years of life. My Thorens is over 50 years old, with the original arm. I’ve serviced it, replaced the plinth and lid, and fitted a Nagaoka cartridge. It’s good for another 50 years in my opinion. Recommendations? Dual, Thorens, AR, Linn, Rega and many of the higher end 80s decks by Sony, Technics, Marantz and Sansui are very good too.
Thought I had subscribed, but I hadn't. I'm subscribed now. I really enjoy your content. I recently upgraded from an Audio Technica LP60XBT (Walmart version) to the LP120XBT USB. Both TTs are fantastic for their price points and I'd recommend either for someone who is interested in getting into vinyl records and playing them.
You want a Technics SL-1200 mk7 if you want a really good turntable. You get what you pay for and yes they are a bit expensive but you will have it for life. If you look after it, it will not depreciate in value.
I upgraded my AT-LP120 from 2017 to a Fluance RT85 a couple years ago, amazing upgrade plus bought a new phono preamp that uses Vacuum tubes lol. I dunno if you have a special RT85 that has a builtin preamp but mine doesn't and I can't find a version of such on the website for a RT85.
Well, it could be that. Paul Rigby, (The Audiophile Man Channel) absolutely loves Rega turntables, especially their arms. He says they have great tonearms. However, these are more "lifestyle choices" rather than the type of decks Rega produces which Paul rates tremendously high. Nevertheless, these are all great turntables aswell, you don't get rubbish from the likes of Fluance, Audio Technica, Pro-Ject, U-Turn etc.
None of the turntables on any youtubers list of top TT's under $500 has changed in the last 6 years or more. Fluance, Audio Technica, U-Turn, Pro-Ject blah blah blah. If there is nothing new then don't just remake the same video over and over. I worked in radio as an on-air host for 40 years and my boss would call me in the office if he heard me using the same recycled bit this year that I used the year before. He would admonish me to "drill deeper". All of you need to drill deeper and find a new angle.
I would slightly disagree. Yeah, we’ve heard this info before as people who follow these sorts of channels, but as a new buyer, it could be beneficial to find this video that’s new and confirms a lot of what consumers hear about these standard brands.
Owning the RT85 myself… There is no built-in preamp. You might wanna put that in the video.

I’m a big fan of the Fluance tables. I own 3 of them presently. I’d highly recommend any of the models.
I bought the Fluance RT-81 a few years ago after watching your review. It sounds great and continues to deliver exceptional performance.
AT LP3 with automatic start/stop, very convenient. Also sounds good - solid performer!

I have the AT LP120 and love it
Where did u get the Bootlegs on the wall. They look so cool
Recently bought an Audio Techinica AT-LP60X. Cost me $200 but it's an excellent turntable.
I have the AT-LP120xubs and so far been happy with it. When I make more money I will upgrade to a turntable in the $750-$1,000 range.
I bought a Lenco LS-440GY last year. For 200 €. Not bad, TBH. Audio Technica cartridge is what matters the most.
Thanks for the reviews! According to the Fluance website, doesn't look like the RT85 has a built-in preamp - fyi (1:40)
The Fluance RT85 is a great TT, I've had mine for years. It does not have a built-in preamp.

i often wonder why rega isnt always a part of these reviews. is it because its not a popular brand in the US?
