Excellent presentation, Lourie. I wrote the Convergent gridding algorithm, released in 1987. Also Convergent’s Conformal modeling. When modeling faults, why don’t you use Fault Framework Modeling (FFM)? I released that in 2010. Intersecting faults are auto-sensed as intersecting, then truncated. Saves a lot of manual labor. FFM internally uses Convergent, producing also the fault trim loop polygon. Transforms fault data to a best-fit-plane before running Convergent. Thus even vertical faults are easily modeled by FFM.
