I hope you react to this some day. The show really ends up holding its own, it's amazing, especially this new season. This show will surprise you if you actually give it a chance, it might look and feel like a spoof at first, but it's it's own thing and it's amazing and it deals with serious issues too. It's just one of my favorite shows.
this speak to me, I actually laughed a lot. Maybe because I'm a Trekkie and I love Spoof/Parody, it's my favorite genre. I want star trek spoof!! or maybe some...okay...a lot of things i think funny, people find it dry and cringey. kinda frustrating. Anyway I been told with TV shows you should give at least 3 episodes to judge it. And I'm try to not give up on first episode, because I end up liking most of the shows I first gave up on.
When I started watching I thought it was going to be cheesy and slapstick humour but I was really surprised. It felt like watching decent star trek episodes but with a few jokes thrown in and I found it really entertaining!
The fact the Jonathan "two takes" Frakes, Brannon Braga, and Robert Duncan McNeil are involved with directing some of these episodes is very encouraging.
I was hooked on this show from the start, hated that it got moved to Hulu at first but it was able to do longer run times which was so good and now a 4th season is confirmed so that makes me happy. The trailer didn't do the best but it lured me in.
I think your wrong, I think this show is gonna be great and do fantastic and blow the ST: DSC out of the water. Star Trek can be funny, Star Trek IV the voyage home was the most successful movie and it was the most comedic I think Star Trek fans will like this show more than the reboot monstrosity that DSC is going to be. Seth Mcfarlane actually wanted to do a real Star Trek show and got tired of having his ideas rejected. He is going to show them what a mistake it was to turn him down. He could have made this comedy spinoff show an actual Star Trek show. Star TreK: Orville, instead of following the flag ship with the best crew we follow one of the smallest ships with one of the worst crews, that would be more excepted by star trek fans than the alternate timeline idiocy that they keep trying to shove down our throats.
I'm old enough to remember the 70's sci-fi spoof "Quark" by Buck Henry. This reminded me more of that. Yes, it uses Star Trek as a template but here's hoping it runs the gamut of all sci[fi tropes. Also heard that Jonathan Frakes is involved, but I'm not sure if it's in front or behind the camera.
Turns out The Orville has become one of the best sci-fi series ever. Season 3 is unbelievable! It's even better than Star Trek, and I'm a huge Star Trek fan. It started as a spoof, but damn, the writing is so great.
Show is amazing! It’s the kind of show that I look forward to watch the next episode. I appreciate the fact that it’s hot hilarious, instead it embraces societal issues in a different approach, life religion, sexuality, sexism. It’s incredible. There’s interracial romance, it’s just incredible and I dislike the fact I have no one to talk about since it doesn’t catch a lot of people’s attention. Even my husband, he is not a sci-fi person and he catches himself glued to certain episodes where he says “ that was a very good one”. Anyways, I think it’s incredible and I highly recommend.
They even used similar (to exact) sounds in this! The "torpedo" firing and others are straight outta the TNG era shows and movies. That's nuts :D Looks good to me, and I'm a die hard Trekkie for 40 years now. :)
I love Seth MacFarlane and Star Trek, so I'll give this show more than a chance. That said, I didn't laugh as much as I hoped from this trailer - though I have to say I actually laughed more the second time I saw it. I think a certain amount is due to your mindset when you view it - when you see it as just a fun show, it allows you to relax a bit and just enjoy the jokes. That said, it's not the preview I was hoping it would be - one that floors you with laughter.
I think the ship looks awesome. And I'm fine with this being a spoof of Star Trek. As long as this manages to be half as good as Galaxy Quest I have no complaints.
The Orville is a better Star Trek than Star Trek. It stands on it's own 2 feet, trust me. The Orville is funny sure, but mainly it's exciting and the storylines are really interesting and creative. It's a truly brilliant show, trust me.
It looks like a a mix between TOS, TNG and Galaxy Quest.... I'm a big Trekkie and am unsure about this but will probably prefer to watch this rather than the Trek series coming out... Discovery Meh!!
Interesting seeing this--the first season was definitely funny, but this trailer blows it out porportion. It's not a straight up comedy like Galaxy Quest was. And it's mellowed out to the point by season 2/3 where I actually started to miss the humor even though the serious episodes were fantastic--it's a different take on Star Trek but just as valid.
It was the SCRIPT that was bad in A Million Ways to Die in the West. Not the acting. I just remember one funny joke from that movie about rooting a sheep. That and a shit-ton of misogyny where he rants about how much women let him down while he constantly acts like an entitled, insensitive turd towards them.
I concur about the lack of laugh out loud material. I'm also a big fan of Galaxy Quest and this looks like a weak knock-off of it. I see elements that might carry some humorous turns and Scott Grimes's character as the helmsman (?) looks really good. At the same time, Norm MacDonald is a real risk as his comedy stylings carry well to a limited audience. I like the dynamic of having two exes in command, but altogether, the project seems, at least by the trailer, to be a real downer. Seth MacFarlane is a genius but even Mel Brooks swung and missed as many times as he hit home runs. Hopefully, the trailer is holding back the real comedy for the pilot. I'll definitely be watching but may lose interest quickly if it doesn't pan out.
Oh snap!!! This is a TV show!!! When I first watched the trailer I honestly thought it was a movie?!?! Crazy.... good to know! Rick and Morty wins again!!! Hahahaha
The show got great once it STOPPED trying to be a comedy. It still has funny jokes in it, but it is definitely much more a science fiction show than a spoof of them. Not really a comedy show.
I wish that The Orville was going to be on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Agree with review, without a decent budget for special effects a space-related comedy is going to get old (aka canceled) prematurely.
Mad props with the "Mystery Science Theatre" shirt, but I agree whole heartedly. I will probably enjoy it. However it will be a colossal failure! Sadly......
Great review. But Seth needs to stick to what he's good at: voice-over, producing, and bullying his Family Guy writing team. They've been circling the drain for the past few years--and meanness has taken over what was once comedy. Who knows? Maybe Orville will actually be funny and Seth can reinvent himself...again...
SquaredSpekz Yes, as a Trekkie I especially love watching a divorced couple forced to work together as captains and passively aggressively bitch at each other for an entire episode.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks the humor looks lame. However it certainly does look more like Star Trek then the new official Star Trek series
I hope you react to this some day. The show really ends up holding its own, it's amazing, especially this new season. I completely agree. Season 2 was good....but Season 3 has beat anything I've seen recently out of Star Trek. Amazing stores and acting.
Yes!!! 100%. They have to make a season 4.
wow this review hasn't aged well. The Orville is a great show and became its own thing and the new season looks epic.
I disagree. I think it looks hilarious. I can't wait until it comes out.
This looks a lot like Galaxy Quest and I love Seths humor, so I'm looking forward to this.
looks better than the actual new star trek series.
Really, we've only had one trailer of it so far. I'm still on the fence about it.
It is.
2 seasons later,Orville is more Star Trek than Discovery.
Ten episodes into season 2, if you've been watching I bet you're eating crow over the fact that it is definitely not a Star Trek spoof.
A million ways to die in the West was freakin hilarious! I will watch this show to see how this show is. TV trailers don't do much justice at times.
karl jonson this man is a comedic genius
This trailer really didnt do it justice. It ended up being so good
this speak to me, I actually laughed a lot. Maybe because I'm a Trekkie and I love Spoof/Parody, it's my favorite genre. I want star trek spoof!! or maybe some...okay...a lot of things i think funny, people find it dry and cringey. kinda frustrating.

I really hope you actually watched it to see how good it is
Exactly
When I started watching I thought it was going to be cheesy and slapstick humour but I was really surprised. It felt like watching decent star trek episodes but with a few jokes thrown in and I found it really entertaining!
It's a good thing you dopes aren't in charge of creating new shows.
Oh look at that the reviews for the show sucks. Pretty obvious though, because from the trailer this show looked horrible.
oh look, someone who doesn't have a mind of his own and relies on critics to tell him what he is supposed to like.
Denial
Satan Claus yet the viewer rating on like all sites is high 80s to mid 90s.
Joe Digger oh the viewer ratings? What about the critic ratings?
It's not a spoof. It feels very similar and is as good as the best of Star Trek. It difference is it feels more human, and has a bit more comedy.
The fact the Jonathan "two takes" Frakes, Brannon Braga, and Robert Duncan McNeil are involved with directing some of these episodes is very encouraging.
One of my favorite shows ever
i love your shirts and seth macfarlane especially
I was hooked on this show from the start, hated that it got moved to Hulu at first but it was able to do longer run times which was so good and now a 4th season is confirmed so that makes me happy. The trailer didn't do the best but it lured me in.

And LOOK what happened!!!
Given that neither a Galaxy Quest 2 or Series will ever happen due to the death of Alan Rickman. That is probably the next best Thing.
This new TV show looks funny just like the comic giant himself Seth MacFarlane

Well, *I'm* looking forward to it.....
one of the greateast shows ever, i wish you guys react to this
It's getting really good and actually not a spoof per se and each episode is getting better and the humor is only used sparingly now as well.
Looks like A Million Ways To Die In The West mixed with Galaxy Quest.
Randy Cooper ? Not even close. Apples and oranges.
Seth has actually been in Star Trek. :D
The show really matured tho. I love it so much
The funny thing is that they could make 1000 guardian movies and this trailer would still have more plot and depth than those movies :-)
This is the most wrong review I've seen. but im into season 2 so I cant be to judgmental on there review,
That ship is a toilet seat! lol
Please react to Ghosted trailer. Really surprisingly funny.
The Orville is a better Star Trek than Star Trek. It stands on it's own 2 feet, trust me. The Orville is funny sure, but mainly it's exciting and the storylines are really interesting and creative. It's a truly brilliant show, trust me.
First season was pretty immature but they struck a balance between seriousness and comedy with 2 and 3.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssss
I love Millions ways to die in the west too.
I'll watch it just because of that.
It looks like a a mix between TOS, TNG and Galaxy Quest....
I'm a big Trekkie and am unsure about this but will probably prefer to watch this rather than the Trek series coming out... Discovery Meh!!

Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!, o mein Herr, Kann nicht warten! :) ;)
So I was wondering if you ever did a reaction to this show.
2017... & wow the graphics lol...

React to The Glass Castle trailer
Awesome Ash hat John!!!! Whoop whoop!!!!
so... no Orville?
Please react to the Destiny 2 Gameplay Reveal trailer!
they try to be funny but humor isnt the best part of the show. but its a great show.
I concur about the lack of laugh out loud material. I'm also a big fan of Galaxy Quest and this looks like a weak knock-off of it. cool
React to Destiny 2 trailer! Patron request!
Oh snap!!! This is a TV show!!! When I first watched the trailer I honestly thought it was a movie?!?! Crazy.... good to know! Rick and Morty wins again!!! Hahahaha
It could be really good if the writing is good. This trailer doesn't seem as funny as it should be, considering that Seth McFarlane is starring
React to destiny 2!!
Probably it's going to be a red band trailer. Come on, it's Seth, he will make it nasty.
I would prefer to see Seth play a serious role as a Star Trek captain.
Only the first episode leans that heavily on MacFarlane's hammy schtick. The rest of the series isn't a spoof of Star Trek, it's a better Star Trek.
i can see fox cancel firefly and air this for seasons sad world xD
IT'S ACTUALLY FUCKING GOOD. Closer to Star Trek than Discovery is.
The show got great once it STOPPED trying to be a comedy. It still has funny jokes in it, but it is definitely much more a science fiction show than a spoof of them. Not really a comedy show.
Your wrong, this will be legendary, didn't family guy get cancelled, people didn't get the talking baby? This will outtrek trek.

React to Good Time trailer
I wish that The Orville was going to be on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Agree with review, without a decent budget for special effects a space-related comedy is going to get old (aka canceled) prematurely.
Greg, react to Injustice 2 The Greatest Comeback You Will Ever See
Not really expecting the best jokes in the trailer.

It came out, and it sucks.
It doesn't though. It's actually really good, as a Trekkie.

it can't be worst than star trek voyager.
The humour is dry
