Well, this is my favorite Shaw Movie! Fans will see fantastic fighting and training parts, it shows a lot of blood and an amazing story and a superb archvillian (Chen Kuan Tai) - this is Kung Fu at its best! A mostly underrated movie and the best of Chang Chehs late 70s movies. In my opinion much better than the stupid kung fu comedy crap by Jackie Chan. This is a real mens movie: no humor, no kisses, no stupid jokes but real martial arts in perfection! Thank you Chang Cheh for this movie!
I too saw this as Mortal Combat the poster didn't seem to advertise it as a Venom movie so I was taken back at the early scenes at the title characters getting blinded muted and everything else fortunately I sat thru the rest of the movie and it became one of my favorite martial arts films.
Mr. Iron Legs actually became more powerful with his new legs. He walks/moves perfectly so I wouldn't really consider him crippled. This is my favorite film from the Venom Mob because most of them work together as a team. You can tell RZA (Man With the Iron Fists) stole a few things from this movie.
This is fantastic film. I saw on Netflix. 5 stars, I start watch many different SB film director by Chang Cheh I mostly gave them 5 stars because action is so good.
My Cox cable providers generally rates the Shaw Bros. movies very low, but made an exception with this one and I understand why. This is a legitimately good movie that works as a great piece of entertainment even if you're not into martial arts films.
Not many people know this but this is also call aka mortal kombat, I remember seeing a sign for mortal kombat on the corner of Broadway 44 st at one of the big theatres odd because I thought they only showed these flicks on 42st, this was back in 1980
Please drop a line and tell me what you think about this movie (or the trailer). This movie (along with Invincible Shaolin) made me a Shaw Brothers fan, 'nuff said.
I love invincible Shaolin too , def in my top 3-5 venoms… this joint is just… insane tho When Chen Quan tai comes home with his wife murked and his son armless…. And drops that tin man tigers line…. I was pumped, promises to get him new hands/arms and the kid grows to be Lu Feng, the ultimate venom villain smh. It’s just the best It’s bloody, it’s raw, it’s training sequences are amongst the best venoms training scenes ever. It’s probably my top venom movie and that says A LOT! Epic movie. Love it and a top top top dog in the Shaw brothers films
