Just curious, not criticizing... but one good benefit from India is keep servants instead of doing domestic work? Even the video mentions this as their first point.
I migrated to America in 1971. In beginning I had home sickness. As time go by I had more of our Indian friends. I did not have good job to begin with but later I had good job and I made nice living. I became citizen and sponsored my relatives and they did the same and grew up to 250+ They all happy and made good living. Some became millionaire. I think USA is the best country to live if you willing to work.
@@abhishekshrivastav7941 -I agree with you. Also, not everyone has or can sponsor relatives. There are people like me who don't have any relatives here, also making friends is not easy. One has to make concious efforts and that too, the friendships may or may not be stable.

Main problem is medical insurance, dental cost, living cost, zero saving for old age. Add to that drugs problem, children growing up are not safe, loneliness and bullying in schools.
@@vjain3971 If you feel skeptical, one way to settle well in US ask anyone you know ( friend or relative) if they know of any reliable indian contact person in the city/town you are going to settle. Get the contact info. of an indian person like that. Then speak with this indian person who is settled in the town/city you are going to. Then that indian person can recommend any safe apartment complexes where lot of indian community are staying and which part of town the schools have a better rating, which subdivision has the most indian community etc.. A few of my friends have done this way, and they are quite happy.
I lived in Atlanta working with an IT company for 2 years, I don't know what hell i had gone through in these years. Returned to india, cracked MP civil service and working in administrative department,. Happily living in indore.Those two years were a nightmare for me still seldom haunts me.
In India there is no match for class I job .Inspired by my own experience of serving in govt organisation ,I suggested my engineer daughter to appear for IES but she opted to work in INTEL,California USA ,Her husband is also there in CISCO .I don't know whether she did right or wrong .Please share your views .
Being an indian American and having grown up in the US, I can tell u this. It really depends on where you are living in America. In one of the US states called new jersey, at least 1/3 are indian population. In new york city, there are so many Indians living there. In Chicago, there are so many Indians. In these places you will find streets where they are filled with indian stores and Indian shops and you can get everything : sweets and other foods for every Hindu or Muslim festival, indian clothing boutiques, Pooja items, etc.. You name it you'll get it. You can even try to bargain with the shop owner if you think he/she is trying to charge you more for whatever products you want to buy. And in some communities like Gujarathi and Punjabi communities, they will actually buy their home in the same subdivision and they will be living 2 or 3 streets away from each other in walking distance. And people will invite each other for laxmi pooja, diwali pooja, and exchange sweets, navrathri pooja, etc... In the south indian community, telugu people are like this. They will buy houses in the same subdivision visit each for Ugadi which is telugu new year, deepavaLi and other Hindu festivals. And yes, you do need to do all your chores yourself here in US. You need to cook, clean your house, do laundry, buy groceries, ( you can do that online now through Amazon or instacart if you have enough money and get your groceries delivered to your home; but indian groceries, you still need to physically go and get them as indian grocery shops are not listed on instacart) You can get a cleaning lady to clean your house if you wish to but cleaning ladies will charge according to your house size, room size, and it will also depend on the services that are done such as separate charge for mopping and sweeping all floors in your house, separate charge for vacuuming, separate charge for waxing wood floors, separate charge for bathroom cleaning, separate charge for kitchen cleaning, etc... My cook here in india cooks nice food, my maid takes care of all house chores, hospital is in neighbourhood and doctors are available 24*7, Rent is cheap, Savings are great, parents are close & happy. I am so glad my H1B lottery didn’t work out 🤘

Point of car is true, it is part of life in US, the phrase you need legs car is your medium to go around here. 6. Insurance is a concept you have to live with it. In nut shell जब अपना देश छोड़ कर कहीं और जाओ तो देश देश में छोड़ कर आओ ये समज आ गया तो life मस्त है वरना भाई रोने के बहाने कभी भी मिल जाते है I believe if you survive first 5 years in US it will be impossible to leave the country. The percentage of people going back to their native country reduces drastically after they have stayed more than 5 year in US. If you do not have visa issues, that I heard is also a very big issue in Indian community.

Still America is far better than other countries. At least you are staying with your family and you have free time to shoot this video. I worked in Kuwait for 3 years. No salary on time, duty hours are from sunrise to sunset. One day off in a month and one month vacation for three years. Six persons forced to stay in a single room like chickens. Company sponsors hold your passport and sometimes they don't give even for renewals. If you complain about duty hours or accommodation or food, you would be put next available flight to India.
@@ramachandranar1082 No sir, Kuwait is good for only uneducated people. There is lot of discrimination to foreign workers. There's no labour law. If there's one, it favours to locals. Foreign workers are treated as second class humans. Even highly qualified Indians get one fourth salary, of what locals get for the same job. That's why most well educated / technicians (Indians) migrate to other countries.
You should move to Oman, KSA or UAE. These GCC countries are far better than America. If you are a highly qualified person like a Doctor, Scientist Charted Accountant or IT professional. Uneducated low skilled labor is facing the same fate everywhere

We have moved back to usa 2 years back. It was fine initially. But now when festivals come we miss the vibe and atmosphere of India. We have 9 yr old Son he too miss festivals and playing in ground with friends. Here in Minnesota it always snow .

Rajat, good you survived so long. Working life but retired atmosphere there. Here if you travel by bus, rickshaw, auto shared taxi, local train, metro etc. on the way you start chatting with fellow travelers, and because of the population you are always at home.All the best to you both.
Lonliness can be beaten if you are fond of reading, mostly libraries are nearby, you can pass time by reading magazines, news papers.. watching tv at home, enjoy music, even you can pass good time if you are fond of cooking, move around your colony or house you will definitely meet senior citizens mostly Indian... and lastly sleeping and sleeping and sleeping 😂😂😂there are hundred ways not to get bored.. depends on individuals.. ( self experience, often go to America, used to go to Starbucks and sit for hours reading news papers etc ) 🥰🥰🥰

within India it is OK to live anywhere, as the cost of living is almost the same, atleast the facilities you get like househelp, online food order, easy doctor's accessibility, etc are almost the same everywhere in India. But there is stark difference to live in some other part of India and abroad, especially in a Western country.
In India you can take service of maid at Rs. 1500 to 2000 p.m. for household cleaning. Those who are earning 1 lac p.m. in India can live same as in America who is earning 5 lac p.m.
Whatever you say, with all the problems you mentioned, not many are returning to their own country. So definitely life there must be worth it finally. Am I right?

Very true …. It’s real picture of USA. I am here from last 15 years , still miss India . I would like to put the light on one more aspect , grown up kids eg.high schoolers there thought process is completely different from us . We have given them the our best but they are facing a society ( school friend ) whose lifestyle and culture is different.
Just wanted to add that Health insurance is not really mandatory in the US, but on the flip side if you get terribly sick, then you could see your hospital bills go through the roof, so to speak, unless of course you are barely surviving, in which case you might qualify for free or subsidized government hospitals and clinics.
I think you become more independent doing all your chores. If you are rich in India, stay there. India is not cheap anymore. It all depends on what are your circumstances. We are living in USA for last 25 years. We have very good social circle, busy every weekend. Small town people have more difficulty adjusting, I think big cities in India has same environment. I love it here.
You have not mentioned school taxes even in your previous 6 month old video with the state tax and all... as the school directly doesn't take a fee, but being a homeowner, you need to pay school taxes here in Pennsylvania in addition to state and all.That's a huge extra... it's as good as an extremely high monthly school fee. Nothing is free. Schools need funds, and it comes from the residents. Plus, if you have a little one like us, Preschool has a very high fee, which is extra, which you did mention.
Biggest problem in America is Medical services. One must have Health insurance to get treated even for common ailments. In India, Medical treatment is far cheaper than in America. One of my friend's new born baby was in Hospital for 15 days and his bill was $ 200000, so that was shocking for him and even health insurance couldn't coved that much he had to shell out $ 48000 from his pocket. After learning the reality of US life from my sister and other relatives and friends, I think if a person is rich here in India, there is no need to dream of going and settling in US just for showing Off and underestimating your relatives and friends.
Nice video with covering most of the points but you forgot to mention one thing that if you have a medical emergency and you go to the hospital, they don’t ask you for money first. You are first treated for your emergency then they ask for payment. If you can’t pay, they will work with you to set up a monthly payment or depending on your finances, will even waive the charges.
I am living in Long Island New York since 10 years. No water problem, No power cut, No mosquitoes, No Traffic jams, V peaceful, High Quality food and Air.
People from our country often go to the US to work part-time, such as washing dishes in restaurants or cleaning toilets in affluent American households. If you consider that cool, think about this: if a laborer from West Bengal in another Indian state were to perform the same job, it would be deemed as bad. However, we should respect all types of work, no matter how small they may be. A person engaged in tasks like cleaning or working in mines holds social importance, just like someone working in a software company. We are all laborers. The most rich 22 persons of India have the same money as that of 70 cr people have!
Every country and place have cons and prons , it depends on individual what is best for you , example some people like crowd , but some people like loneliness. So make a quick analysis and choose the best points for you America is good country , but as I said every country have cons and prons , it depends upon what you like. For me cooking is a habit , living in non crowd areas give me relaxation so it is good but it may differ person to person.

Social isolation and cultural integration were huge factors for me. I have lived in Singapore for 28 years. I decided to come back to Singapore again. Pasteur is always green on the other side.
I am retired Live in Greater New York area, own a home. If I go back to India I can live a very comfortable life. However I still prefer to live here because of Medical reasons. Being retired Medicare takes care of our health related issues. I have to pay a lot for it but still better than India. Law N Order. Live in a small town 45 minutes drive from downtown New York City. But I love my town N feel good here. Dwarkadhessh Mandir next block N many other Mandir and Gurdwars also 15/25 minutes easy drive. Many Indian stores N Restaurant including South Indians around. International Airport direct flight BOM N DEL 30 minutes drive. My town is very safe. No problem. It is still winter in North America in end of March. Deal with snow to but I like it here.

Yes, if you are well eductaed then you are ok. But life is USA is getting harder and harder specialy if you do not live as family unit. Also life hard for older people due lack of social activity and transportation. Older indian people are not use to western life style.

If you feel skeptical, one way to settle well in US ask anyone you know ( friend or relative) if they know of any reliable indian contact person in the city/town you are going to settle. Get the contact info. of an indian person like that. Then speak with this indian person who is settled in the town/city you are going to. Then that indian person can recommend any safe apartment complexes where lot of indian community are staying and which part of town the schools have a better rating, which subdivision has the most indian community etc.. A few of my friends have done this way, and they are quite happy.

Being an indian American and having grown up in the US, I can tell u this. It really depends on where you are living in America. In one of the US states called new jersey, at least 1/3 are indian population. In new york city, there are so many Indians living there. In Chicago, there are so many Indians. In these places you will find streets where they are filled with indian stores and Indian shops and you can get everything : sweets and other foods for every Hindu or Muslim festival, indian clothing boutiques, Pooja items, etc.. You name it you'll get it. You can even try to bargain with the shop owner if you think he/she is trying to charge you more for whatever products you want to buy.
And in some communities like Gujarathi and Punjabi communities, they will actually buy their home in the same subdivision and they will be living 2 or 3 streets away from each other in walking distance. And people will invite each other for laxmi pooja, diwali pooja, and exchange sweets, navrathri pooja, etc...
In the south indian community, telugu people are like this. They will buy houses in the same subdivision visit each for Ugadi which is telugu new year, deepavaLi and other Hindu festivals.
And yes, you do need to do all your chores yourself here in US. You need to cook, clean your house, do laundry, buy groceries, ( you can do that online now through Amazon or instacart if you have enough money and get your groceries delivered to your home; but indian groceries, you still need to physically go and get them as indian grocery shops are not listed on instacart) You can get a cleaning lady to clean your house if you wish to but cleaning ladies will charge according to your house size, room size, and it will also depend on the services that are done such as separate charge for mopping and sweeping all floors in your house, separate charge for vacuuming, separate charge for waxing wood floors, separate charge for bathroom cleaning, separate charge for kitchen cleaning, etc...

I believe if you survive first 5 years in US it will be impossible to leave the country. The percentage of people going back to their native country reduces drastically after they have stayed more than 5 year in US. If you do not have visa issues, that I heard is also a very big issue in Indian community.

No salary on time, duty hours are from sunrise to sunset. One day off in a month and one month vacation for three years. Six persons forced to stay in a single room like chickens. Company sponsors hold your passport and sometimes they don't give even for renewals. If you complain about duty hours or accommodation or food, you would be put next available flight to India.

No sir, Kuwait is good for only uneducated people. There is lot of discrimination to foreign workers. There's no labour law. If there's one, it favours to locals. Foreign workers are treated as second class humans. Even highly qualified Indians get one fourth salary, of what locals get for the same job. That's why most well educated / technicians (Indians) migrate to other countries.

But there is stark difference to live in some other part of India and abroad, especially in a Western country.

I would like to put the light on one more aspect , grown up kids eg.high schoolers there thought process is completely different from us . We have given them the our best but they are facing a society ( school friend ) whose lifestyle and culture is different.
Just wanted to add that Health insurance is not really mandatory in the US, but on the flip side if you get terribly sick, then you could see your hospital bills go through the roof, so to speak, unless of course you are barely surviving, in which case you might qualify for free or subsidized government hospitals and clinics.
I think you become more independent doing all your chores. If you are rich in India, stay there. India is not cheap anymore. It all depends on what are your circumstances. We are living in USA for last 25 years. We have very good social circle, busy every weekend. Small town people have more difficulty adjusting, I think big cities in India has same environment. I love it here.
You have not mentioned school taxes even in your previous 6 month old video with the state tax and all... as the school directly doesn't take a fee, but being a homeowner, you need to pay school taxes here in Pennsylvania in addition to state and all.That's a huge extra... it's as good as an extremely high monthly school fee. Nothing is free. Schools need funds, and it comes from the residents. Plus, if you have a little one like us, Preschool has a very high fee, which is extra, which you did mention.

Biggest problem in America is Medical services. One must have Health insurance to get treated even for common ailments. In India, Medical treatment is far cheaper than in America. One of my friend's new born baby was in Hospital for 15 days and his bill was $ 200000, so that was shocking for him and even health insurance couldn't coved that much he had to shell out $ 48000 from his pocket.
After learning the reality of US life from my sister and other relatives and friends, I think if a person is rich here in India, there is no need to dream of going and settling in US just for showing Off and underestimating your relatives and friends.

You are first treated for your emergency then they ask for payment.

If you consider that cool, think about this: if a laborer from West Bengal in another Indian state were to perform the same job, it would be deemed as bad. However, we should respect all types of work, no matter how small they may be. A person engaged in tasks like cleaning or working in mines holds social importance, just like someone working in a software company. We are all laborers. The most rich 22 persons of India have the same money as that of 70 cr people have!

America is good country , but as I said every country have cons and prons , it depends upon what you like. For me cooking is a habit , living in non crowd areas give me relaxation so it is good but it may differ person to person.

Hi there. This video is really informative. I was in Florida for 10 months since i got my Green Card status based on my professional qualification. Social isolation and cultural integration were huge factors for me. I have lived in Singapore for 28 years. I decided to come back to Singapore again. Pasteur is always green on the other side.
I am retired Live in Greater New York area, own a home. If I go back to India I can live a very comfortable life. However I still prefer to live here because of Medical reasons. Being retired Medicare takes care of our health related issues. I have to pay a lot for it but still better than India. Law N Order. Live in a small town 45 minutes drive from downtown New York City. But I love my town N feel good here. Dwarkadhessh Mandir next block N many other Mandir and Gurdwars also 15/25 minutes easy drive. Many Indian stores N Restaurant including South Indians around. International Airport direct flight BOM N DEL 30 minutes drive. My town is very safe. No problem. It is still winter in North America in end of March. Deal with snow to but I like it here.

All you said is absolutely true Rajat and Shilpa Ji. one of my close friend who came to US after marriage felt so lonely that she got addicted to alcohol and sleeping pills and finally after rehab she became normal. I spent 7 years in USA, decided to move back to India because of below reasons,
1) Costly domestic help
2) housing cost is high
3) Safety issues
4) Medical expenses are high
5) Cultural dilemma for growing kids
6) Immigration became a political agenda In USA
7) Feeling of disconnection from Indian culture
8) disconnection from relatives
9) Cost of living is high hard to manage for a single earning family
10) feeling of loneliness
11) Visa issues

in india you can walk in to any hospital for test, MrI etc but in USA or other western countries these services are not on walk in basis it takes months to get appointment

Yes, if you are well eductaed then you are ok. But life is USA is getting harder and harder specialy if you do not live as family unit. Also life hard for older people due lack of social activity and transportation. Older indian people are not use to western life style.
Its a good wholesome growing experience. And a vert enlightening and humbling experience.

Actually we were. In US for ao many years, now in Banglore. I still misses America. It's really good place to live.
