It's a multiplayer game (except for 1s), you're unfortunately dependent on whether or not your mate is good unless you're Squishy or Leth and can 1v2 or even 1v3 up until a certain rank ... That's why I stopped playing to rank up and mainly do it for fun now and for tournament rewards/items. Way less of a headache this way

Despite the losses, at least your mmr boost will go away not so high up into the ranks. You will actually experience what these ranks are like rather than zooming through via mmr boost. And in my opinion, this should make the videos more entertaining and I bet you'll be able to commentate an accurate representation pushing through the lower ranks. have the boost pads change colors periodically, if they're red they give you a random negative amount of boost, if they're normal color they give you a random positive amount of boost.
In my opinion , I think you should be doing what it takes to win at the rank. I know you are trying to not style on people here, which is totally fair, but letting yourself lose games because you don't want to ruin the experience for other people is going to A: Make you stay in the lower ranks for longer thus, potentially "ruining" more games for other people and B: Make the series take way longer. So instead of not doing anything when the ball goes up high, when a silver would typically not be able to reach it, instead may teach how you can wait for the easiest time to hit the ball and then show the best way to setup. Like make sure you are in line with the ball before trying to jump up and flip at it as an example. It still teaches people and also plays to the rank, but it is showing people how to get out of the rank. Basically the mindset is, to get out of silver, you need to play like a gold, to get out of Gold you need to play like a Plat, etc. Just a thought! Love the content!
I feel the series is more about rotation, behavior and tactics than about car/ball control and mechanics. The latter you can just learn by freeplay/training packs, the former apparently nobody up to higher diamond has learned.
I agree if he's in plat 2 maybe play like a plat 3 or diamond 1 ect. And explain the differences between the skill gap as he has been doing. But if you play like silver you're gonna stay in silver lol.
I know it's expensive, but I think an eye tracker for this series could help further show the logic behind when to move forward, when to move back, and so on Great content by the way, can't wait until diamond/champ levels (where I'm stuck 😅)
I haven’t hit gc yet myself but my issue is purely because I haven’t been playing lately. Waiting for my pc to be fixed because as soon as I built it, it didn’t wanna work perfectly. Hopefully once it’s fixed I can get back into my flow and hit gc, which I hope you can too

I really like the fact that you accept to loose. It shows that even if you play smart, sometimes we still loose. Because sometimes, we have the impression that we did well but lost. You show it actually happens.

There's a reason i haven't been able to leave Plat in over 2 years. I try to follow Leth's teachings, but i then get clapped by a teammate sniffing my ass the entire time. i'm almost always just designated 3rd man the entire damn game. Some great apocalypse will smite both my teammates families if they don't touch that ball within ten seconds, or at least, that's how they play. These videos have been out for so long, and yet...here we are.

The leaving stuff and general toxicity: This is why it’s actually much harder to rank up than it should be now. You could argue that it should happen for you as often as it happens against you. But personally, I get equally tilted in both situations because as an adult I feel this kind of behavior is so unnecessary. So I’ve basically quit soloqueueing, especially 2’s, because the experience always ends up so bad.
Im glad you are doing this series and showcasing a taste of what its like solo queing in gold-plat. I find it EXTREMELY frustrating myself down here, as I am not the greatest, and I believe my true rank is around Diamond 1, (My peak) I find myself carrying my teammates in most games with 3+ goals or assists. There is so much toxicity in this game right now, people rage quit over the smallest things. I also find players that are FAR below my skill level in plat 1 who miss the easiest most simple slow rolling balls in front of our net, or the opposite with a dime pass from me into the opponents open net. I think Psyonix needs to change the way ranks are given out to new players, on a new account if you win 7+ placements youll most likely be near diamond/plat or in them which is INSANE for a brand new player who simply cannot and will not be able to keep up with everyone else in the lobby. This actually happened to me, I got carried to a rank way higher than where I belonged when I started on pc from getting goated random teammates and then got onto a massive loosing streak afterwards annoying every teammate along the way. But ultimately I ended up where I belonged and you have too, even if you get unlucky with teammates here or there it will not stop you from ranking up. If you feel your teammates always suck on offense then u suck at passing, and if they always suck on defense then you keep over committing and leaving them in a 1v2. Focus on what you are doing, look at your own mistakes and where you can improve and u will rank up guaranteed.
Also, NOBODY is better in every area than others in their rank. High game sense people suck mechanically, and mechanical players are idiots. If u have way higher mechanics than everyone in your rank, then u are playing stupid and should focus on game sense. If you are way worse mechanically then congratulations u are a game sense genius, but should spend more time in free play if u want to rank up.
The one thing you have to do at lower ranks, even up to diamond is panic once in a while when the ball comes to net, don‘t just let it go in, fly up and completely miss it, also have 0 boost 40% of the time. That‘s the diamond experience. I‘m saying that because I remember the last RTSSL, and the one thing that I noticed was that you were too „good“ at the start, and then way too bad at the later ranks. Edit: also, I‘m Diamond myself, so I‘m allowed to roast myself.

I mean I know what players do at GC or even SSL, but I just don't have the mechanics and game sense for playing at that level myself. Ooo Leth, welcome to the true lower ranks. People leave all the time. I’ve had a guy leave when we were winning just because I accidentally own goaled. Plus I think it’s a lot of people who don’t pay attention to their time and get called to dinner, bedtime, etc. He said sorry because he ‘stole’ your goal. Us low ranks seem to care more about who scores the goal than just winning. Defending three times is because nobody pays attention to using quick chats to state your intentions. I have a teammate who actually gets mad when the guy in the left quick chats ‘I got it.’ Apparently everyone’s just supposed to know what you’re going to do. And no, no one has any field awareness. It’s just ball chase all day.
I was playing in casual 3s yesterday and we went down 1 goal. And one of my teammates just starts stealing every boost and occasionally going afk never hitting the ball. It’s insane how some people let their emotions get the better of them and refuse to play or even forfeit
leth, i think its amazing how fair you smurf.... you even let opponents win if you know a silver wouldnt have cleared a certain shot that you could clear 999/1000 times. but its humanly impossible to play as a silver when ur SSL since ur basic movement (boost management, positioning, subtle handbrake to correct angles) is too good for the rank. Also the pure fact that you dont whiff like they do and instead of using mechanics, you just decide to park ur car inbetween attacker and the goal and they shoot it into you for the easy clear. No matter how fair you want to play it, its basically impossible for the opponent to win XD

I really hope Leth doesn't do what he did in last RTSSL and spend a ton of time on these lower ranks and almost no time in Diamond ranks (which is were I'm at) Last time I feel like we got half a vid in Diamond and that was it. And here we are already 2 vids in bronze.
he has so many videos already in diamond, if your trying to study his gameplay and get better go back on his old videos, he barely has any videos in these lower ranks compared to diamond and up, I think its good he's making more vids in the lower ranks to help out more people in his community.

The goal replay starting at 18:28 highlights one of the biggest problems players have at that rank really well. Everybody chasing the ball into the corner from behind it, including all 3 players on the defending team. At that point it basically becomes a 6 vs 0 with no chance for the blue players to stop the ball from rolling in front of their net. They should be rotating back into their net from the opposite side of the field to put themselves in between the net and the ball. But that's something that not even many players in Champ understand so it's a slow skill to develop despite being a simple concept.
i'm a gold player (mostly hover around gold 2 and gold 3 and highest was plat 1 on doubles and i have 400 hours) i honestly learned a lot in this video in just positioning and what i should try to do in certain situations and what to get used to
Day 2 of asking for Rumble but you can't see what power-up you have until you use it? You can only see the red targeter that locks onto players and the ball? 👀
Hey Leth for this series, you should handicap yourself with something in each rank. Like silver-diamond with power slide unbinded and air roll unbinded, etc. It would force you to think a little differently, and might make the gameplay a little more authentic. I’m watching you slide up and down walls, rotate, and everything that the people at these ranks do not do. Just food for thought.
Silver is literally harder for me than gold and even plat. I’m a plat player and when starting on a new account on ps4 I legit got hard stuck in silver 3 for like 2 days straight because I am the type of player to wait and predict when a good time to go is, but silver is so incredibly unpredictable that just did not work. Once I did rank up out of silver, I got on a win streak and instantly jumped up to plat so it really was just silver.
Another funny story, while in silver I had a 100 percent win rate in 2v3 situations. There were two games where one teammate was afk from the very start, and a few others where a teammate left pretty early on. In every single game my team won so take with that what you will.
I agree with some of the other comments. You should probably do one or two things that most people in a given rank can’t do that helps you win. It will give us in those ranks something specific to work on that will for sure help us rank up, which is the teaching goal of the series to begin with.
Really good point to bring up. It’s how people progress in any sort of way. If someone can’t bench 225 pounds in the gym, they will still try the lift until they can get 225
Defs should show us how to 2v1 in lower ranks, even if ur only staying close and waiting for mistakes its good to show, as long as you stay mechanically within the rank ur at it shouldnt be a problem
Make it so the ball is dice and the number it lands on last when it goes into the net is how much points that team will get and the fist number on the dice whent it spawns (make it spawn at the ceiling) is a random event or make chess Make chess Make dice
Ive got an idea for a game mode: Ball touches will be counted and when scored the scoring team will get as many goals as got ball got touches since last goal
Game mode idea:At the start of the match everyone gets a random number 1-150 and what ever number you get is the kph (10 kph range to make it easier) you have to score for it to count and dont tell them why their points arent counting 😭.
Yeah, it's miserable down here. Getting absolutely bashed by players (not your rank, but) hundreds of MMR above where you're at AND your teammate gives up instantly after making one mistake OR completely refuses to FF (to play a match they might actually be able to be competitive in in some way) after getting scored on after the 8th 5 pass flip reset double tap play. No one ends up learning ANYTHING by getting stomped by/stomping other players. Sort out your insecurities, y'all. Be competitive, not the loser that changes the rules so they can win without even having to really try. It's a waste of everyone's time. Also, the toxicity is always annoying, but not only that... it's lazy... it's the same stuff over and over and over again. Like a bot. Toxic players are getting so lazy that their toxicity is becoming so devoid of any creativity/personality they're actually making their toxicity LESS effective. Sad state.
I’ve found the easiest way to get out of gold and into platinum is to be the one playing 3rd man. You can win a game with nothing but saves and let your teammates do the chasing and get lucky goals lol
Position and rotation definitely needs to be taught, what drives me the most crazy is when you get super ball chaser that spams take the shot at the worst times and then gets mad when u don't just dive... this is diamond btw
Leth, I asked a silver 1 friend a handful of questions you've posed in these videos. He's been playing for about 2 months. At silver and below, their rank doesn't mean anything to a lot of them. Like, they don't even understand the difference between ranked and casual. It's just whatever they selected. The ranked menh option now also let's him select rumble along with 2s/3s, so he will play those whatever queues up. MMR is an unknown concept, and a pointless one to them. When asked why people just leave the match midgame, he said and I quote "why not? Why stay in a game I'm losing? I'll just leave". Goes to say, the meaning of a rank is an unknown thing. When asked why would a guy leave at 0 seconds when the ball is still up, down by 1, he got confused and I had to reword it. When explained the game doesn't end til it hits the ground, so a goal would mean OT, he said "oh I never really put that together, maybe he didn't know that either, and just knew he was down by 1 and it was a L" You mentioned RL could add some kind of rotation training/tips. They could also add one that says "casual: no stress, car soccer. Ranked: Grind with others to achieve the highest rank. Wins = gain ranks, Lose = Lose ranks" or something to put the concept in their head.
I feel like you should be able to score like one time per game atleast if its one of those moments where even a silver most likely could, not necessarily to win but rather to show what plays can be rewarding if that makes sense.
What if you tell your friends there’s a mod but don’t tell them what it is, and the mod is they have infinite boost, but there boost still goes from 100-0 like they can still pick up 12 pads and 100 pads, and the boost that shows on there screen changes accordingly. The one thing you have to do at lower ranks, even up to diamond is panic once in a while when the ball comes to net, don‘t just let it go in, fly up and completely miss it, also have 0 boost 40% of the time. That‘s the diamond experience.
I‘m saying that because I remember the last RTSSL, and the one thing that I noticed was that you were too „good“ at the start, and then way too bad at the later ranks.
Edit: also, I‘m Diamond myself, so I‘m allowed to roast myself.

@@StarWarsLounge2 That's fair. However I would say showing how to play at certain ranks doesn't really work? I mean I know what players do at GC or even SSL, but I just don't have the mechanics and game sense for playing at that level myself.
If it was as easy as just following what Leth's tips are, everyone would be at SSL already. That's my way to look at it.

Imagine u have so many good opportunities to hit the ball in the net or make a clear and u just miss... it gets frustrating. Not that its an excuse cause ur affecting ur team by quitting but i think thats why it happens

People leave all the time. I’ve had a guy leave when we were winning just because I accidentally own goaled. Plus I think it’s a lot of people who don’t pay attention to their time and get called to dinner, bedtime, etc.
He said sorry because he ‘stole’ your goal. Us low ranks seem to care more about who scores the goal than just winning.
Defending three times is because nobody pays attention to using quick chats to state your intentions. I have a teammate who actually gets mad when the guy in the left quick chats ‘I got it.’ Apparently everyone’s just supposed to know what you’re going to do.
And no, no one has any field awareness. It’s just ball chase all day.
I was playing in casual 3s yesterday and we went down 1 goal. And one of my teammates just starts stealing every boost and occasionally going afk never hitting the ball. It’s insane how some people let their emotions get the better of them and refuse to play or even forfeit
leth, i think its amazing how fair you smurf.... you even let opponents win if you know a silver wouldnt have cleared a certain shot that you could clear 999/1000 times.
but its humanly impossible to play as a silver when ur SSL since ur basic movement (boost management, positioning, subtle handbrake to correct angles) is too good for the rank.
Also the pure fact that you dont whiff like they do and instead of using mechanics, you just decide to park ur car inbetween attacker and the goal and they shoot it into you for the easy clear.
No matter how fair you want to play it, its basically impossible for the opponent to win XD

I really hope Leth doesn't do what he did in last RTSSL and spend a ton of time on these lower ranks and almost no time in Diamond ranks (which is were I'm at) Last time I feel like we got half a vid in Diamond and that was it. And here we are already 2 vids in bronze.
he has so many videos already in diamond, if your trying to study his gameplay and get better go back on his old videos, he barely has any videos in these lower ranks compared to diamond and up, I think its good he's making more vids in the lower ranks to help out more people in his community.

The goal replay starting at 18:28 highlights one of the biggest problems players have at that rank really well. Everybody chasing the ball into the corner from behind it, including all 3 players on the defending team. At that point it basically becomes a 6 vs 0 with no chance for the blue players to stop the ball from rolling in front of their net. They should be rotating back into their net from the opposite side of the field to put themselves in between the net and the ball. But that's something that not even many players in Champ understand so it's a slow skill to develop despite being a simple concept.
happens in diamond too, usually on saturday for some reason. in ranked, get scored on 15 secs in, boom teammate insta-leaves 😆

Hey Leth for this series, you should handicap yourself with something in each rank. Like silver-diamond with power slide unbinded and air roll unbinded, etc. It would force you to think a little differently, and might make the gameplay a little more authentic. I’m watching you slide up and down walls, rotate, and everything that the people at these ranks do not do. Just food for thought.
Leth is literally the Donald Glover of Rocket League. He's good at everything and funny.
Silver is literally harder for me than gold and even plat. I’m a plat player and when starting on a new account on ps4 I legit got hard stuck in silver 3 for like 2 days straight because I am the type of player to wait and predict when a good time to go is, but silver is so incredibly unpredictable that just did not work. Once I did rank up out of silver, I got on a win streak and instantly jumped up to plat so it really was just silver.
Another funny story, while in silver I had a 100 percent win rate in 2v3 situations. There were two games where one teammate was afk from the very start, and a few others where a teammate left pretty early on. In every single game my team won so take with that what you will.

I agree with some of the other comments. You should probably do one or two things that most people in a given rank can’t do that helps you win. It will give us in those ranks something specific to work on that will for sure help us rank up, which is the teaching goal of the series to begin with.

Defs should show us how to 2v1 in lower ranks, even if ur only staying close and waiting for mistakes its good to show, as long as you stay mechanically within the rank ur at it shouldnt be a problem

Game mode idea:At the start of the match everyone gets a random number 1-150 and what ever number you get is the kph (10 kph range to make it easier) you have to score for it to count and dont tell them why their points arent counting 😭.

At this rank you need to play with car cam at all times. That way you can maybe play a little less passive also.

Getting absolutely bashed by players (not your rank, but) hundreds of MMR above where you're at AND your teammate gives up instantly after making one mistake OR completely refuses to FF (to play a match they might actually be able to be competitive in in some way) after getting scored on after the 8th 5 pass flip reset double tap play. No one ends up learning ANYTHING by getting stomped by/stomping other players. Sort out your insecurities, y'all. Be competitive, not the loser that changes the rules so they can win without even having to really try. It's a waste of everyone's time. Also, the toxicity is always annoying, but not only that... it's lazy... it's the same stuff over and over and over again. Like a bot. Toxic players are getting so lazy that their toxicity is becoming so devoid of any creativity/personality they're actually making their toxicity LESS effective. Sad state.

I’ve found the easiest way to get out of gold and into platinum is to be the one playing 3rd man. You can win a game with nothing but saves and let your teammates do the chasing and get lucky goals lol

Leth, I asked a silver 1 friend a handful of questions you've posed in these videos. He's been playing for about 2 months.
At silver and below, their rank doesn't mean anything to a lot of them. Like, they don't even understand the difference between ranked and casual. It's just whatever they selected. The ranked menh option now also let's him select rumble along with 2s/3s, so he will play those whatever queues up. MMR is an unknown concept, and a pointless one to them.
When asked why people just leave the match midgame, he said and I quote "why not? Why stay in a game I'm losing? I'll just leave". Goes to say, the meaning of a rank is an unknown thing.
When asked why would a guy leave at 0 seconds when the ball is still up, down by 1, he got confused and I had to reword it. When explained the game doesn't end til it hits the ground, so a goal would mean OT, he said "oh I never really put that together, maybe he didn't know that either, and just knew he was down by 1 and it was a L"
You mentioned RL could add some kind of rotation training/tips. They could also add one that says "casual: no stress, car soccer. Ranked: Grind with others to achieve the highest rank. Wins = gain ranks, Lose = Lose ranks" or something to put the concept in their head.

Good luck in diamond. This season I’ve had the most amount of people throw and quit after one or two goals in the first minute, both in 2s and 3s.

I feel like you should be able to score like one time per game atleast if its one of those moments where even a silver most likely could, not necessarily to win but rather to show what plays can be rewarding if that makes sense.
What if you tell your friends there’s a mod but don’t tell them what it is, and the mod is they have infinite boost, but there boost still goes from 100-0 like they can still pick up 12 pads and 100 pads, and the boost that shows on there screen changes accordingly. I love your videos and it would make my year if you use this idea in a video ❤❤❤

I don't understand why leth is letting people win like the first 5 matches are like bronze bronze silver gold gold then like plat 2 but he's gonna place like gold 2 and honestly most people gold or below just need to play the game anything plat 2 and above I can see being useful because that's the split but watch leth 2v1 silvers and watching him lose just isnt fun...
