Raye doesn't really have a genre, she sings raps does jazz pop drill R&B soul edm, she just flows, all songs not like this not even close, watch videos Hard out Here, Escapism, Black Mascara, The Weekend with Stormzy, Money calling with DaBeatfreakz, best description I've heard of her she's an elegant gangsta 😂 old school elegant 2024 attitude, watch her Brits performance & react to her album you'll get it
Her genre is quite versatile, her album has a mix of a lot of different genres but in her live shows she tends to use jazz and orchestral arrangements for the live versions of her songs. Raye has been famous in the UK for quite a long time, but was mainly known as a dance artist who wrote and featured on a lot of big hit dance/EDM songs with the likes of David Guetta, Jax Jones, Disclosure etc. But then later it transpired that she had been writing songs in her own style that her record label were refusing to release because they didn't think it was commercial enough, so she fought to get released from her contract which she eventually achieved and she went on to release her album independently and had huge success with it.
Also… Raye does so many different genres from blues r&b to edm. She is definitely one of my favorite artists out now. Gives me the same star quality and passion for music as my all time favorite, Amy.
Hiya, sending love from the UK 🇬🇧 ❤ She has several fabulous live performances that I think you would enjoy: The thrill is gone at the Mercury Awards, her cover of feeling good on her own playing the piano (triple j), her BRITS performance medley, her covers of it's a man's world at the AMAs and also at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Oscar winning tears at the Royal Albert Hall, her tiny desk performance is really fantastic, and her performance of worth it at the Hilton in London. I think you would also find her single "genesis" interesting too - the video is very creative and the song (which is 7 minutes long) touches on several pertinent topics. Louis Theroux also interviewed her for a documentary, and it's a really good episode where she opens up about her story in the music industry. You also see her behind the scenes at work in the studio writing songs, doing production and being an all round musical genius 😊
that was only part of the concert at the Royal Albert Hall, it gets better as it continues. the audience were ecstatic Tune into the full list. She broke the record; 6 BAFTAs and best album of the year
So her album is kind of a mix of genres; pop, blues, Jazz, R&B but it is somehow still cohesive. Her label forced her to be a dance EDM singer so she kinda creates with no boundaries now. She did perform her whole album in this show at the Royal Albert Hall, the full video is available on BBC One in the UK & the audio is available for streaming. It’s called “My 21st Century Symphony”. I think you guys are right though, she is way better live. Check out her BRITS performance & she did SNL too, great performances.
As soon as I here the comparison to Amy I lose interest. And by the way Amy or Bette Midler weren't genres, they were both artists who sang in a particular genre and I would argue two different genres, Amy was jazz/blues and Bette was most definitely more West End musical. Raye is neither and all of the above. YT do not recommend this channel activated.
Wow, someone really woke up and chose "Essay Mode" today. Imagine being so pressed about a casual comparison that you activate "YT do not recommend" like it’s a nuclear launch code. Relax, it’s just a reaction video, not a genre-defining manifesto. 😂
heartbreak welcome is quoting the first track on her album btw
Its not human error, he says the same thing in the album!
