For 3 years I have a Royal Enfield GT with about 13.500 km on the clock. Still love that bike a lot. End of August, I bought a shotgun. This is a fantastic bike, also for longer distances. It looks retro, but rolls like a train. I already put 3000 km on it, because I almost ride only bikes. You can just buy it, all confidence in RE. And I used to be Honda😊
I agree. It feels like more than 47bhp and it feels lighter than 240kgs. Strange! And so well handling. Surprised me, alot! Took it to the twisties and no worries. Went down to 50kmh in 6th and no compalints. Just pulled up to 120kmh. And quite fast aswell. The bike I tried was fitted with a modified 2:1 S&S exhaust for the Interceptor. Sounded lovely and the pickup was quick. I used to have a Triumph Speedmaster, and compared to that, this one feels peppier and much better handling. Thank you Dan!
The single most enticing model of RE for me, would be the new Bear 650. It just shouts versatility, fun, the pleasure of riding and some dirt road/etc capabilities without getting out of sorts. Simple but very pleasing. RE has been doing smash hits.
I test rode one about 3 months ago. You do get a pillion seat as standard but it’s removable with a key. I really liked it too and may still get one but was holding out to see what the Classic 650 was like. May not bother now I’ve seen the Classic spy shots! The Bear looks interesting though….
You have say Royal enfield is knocking it out the park currently, iam looking at a new Himalayan next but iam drawn to several of there bikes, this shotgun does look the business though and the 650 Bear has caught my eye aswell
Fun and informative as always thanks Dan. I really don't know how they can make and distribute them for that price. 240kg is quite a weight for a 650 though isn't it
I think this and the classic 350 are my 2 favourite RE’s. I prefer the Meteor 650 look wise but going from reviews the suspension is almost unusable. Also having my back arched in the cruiser position will catch up to me from previous experience. Blacked out has never looked as good as chrome, however chrome is a nightmare to look after. RE to me has the best designs hands down. I get more excited seeing an RE on the road than any other bike. I don’t own one as reliability and service intervals are a priority. Practicality over beauty. RE is look don’t touch, but I think I may have to break that rule at some point.
Ive got 3k miles on mine and never experienced a rear slide like you had, however as the weather gets worse im starting to wonder if the stock tyres are going to be an issue
I have to say that colour scheme is my favourite and the look of the bike is quite appealing but it does seem rather heavy for a 650. Im not too sure about the clock I think it should of either been analog or TFT. Im not a huge fan of the two together look. Great first ride review and be interested how it is after a week or so of riding. p.s. Watch out for that Horney button lol.
Great bike, no it came out before the Himalayan 450.. there's lots of these second hand for sub 5k.. and the seat comes standard so you have the 3 options, at no extra cost... 🎉
i really like the style of the royal endfield's shotgun and super meteor, but they are way over my budget for my A2 license sadly, so i'm going with the Rebel 500 2025, honda announced upgrades + they lower the price (from 7200 euros to 6500 here in france)
Yeah I think this is basically superceded by the new Bear 650 - a lighter bike than the Interceptor yet it's suited to taller riders and uses more conventionally sized wheels!
@@johnDukemaster At least one needs to be adjusted. And it’s still nonsensical at only 600 miles. Most people can’t do this themselves, so it’s like a $500 service.

Agreed. Can’t wait to see more about the Bear.

I think the bear is the one to watch next year!
I feel like this one came and went. Never seen one out in the wild. Got a feeling the Classic 650 and the Bear 650 are going to be everywhere though.
Great video as usual keep up the good work
Very enjoyable to watch Dan thank you 👍
At least it comes with mudguards, that look like they'll keep mud off the bike.
great looking bike, would love one, just not ready for this type of ride just yet
I think it looks absolutely stunning , just find it a bit " expensive" for RE standards.
Looks great value for the money
Looks like a nice classic and well priced. It is heavy though which would put me off a bit. I would change the tyres too.
It doesn’t feel heavy. It’s very agile actually. You only feel the wait when stationary
Fun and informative as always thanks Dan. I really don't know how they can make and distribute them for that price. 240kg is quite a weight for a 650 though isn't it
Yes, it's really heavy, and it's almost a bobber and still very very heavy
@@torbenjensen-cp6qrDoesn’t feel
Heavy

4.55 quite relatable 😅

Mostly user error tbh
Should I buy the interceptor 650(alloy version ) or the shotgun650 and why??

Ah well that makes sense! Cheers!
Would look great without that rear fender.
Nice looking
In Croatia is 8099 or 8199 eur, depends on color option

is the engine heat bearable when in traffic?
Not sure Dan will find this out given he's riding in the English countryside in autumn!
@ ow my bad,
Yeah not exactly hot here at the moment. No issues to report but might be different in summer!
Heavy both clutch and bike...I wanted to like it..

Classic CEAT tyres slipping on a dry road!
or a touch of gravel and sloppy riding....
It would be better with the digital speedometer. R.E. should offer it on all models.
So I thought you said, "Flacid Car Meet."
:D To be fair, they were all old dudes!
This is too short for who has height the best bike is 411 scram and Himalayan 450 ✌️✌️
We need someone from business to run the country as a business.
You have to adjust the valves after the first 600 miles. In 2024. Huge turnoff for me, especially when the last generation had hydraulic valves.
Didn't have to on my continental
Not adjust, only check. And then they might need adjusting. But that's with a spanner! No shims.
@@johnDukemaster At least one needs to be adjusted. And it’s still nonsensical at only 600 miles. Most people can’t do this themselves, so it’s like a $500 service.
You don’t have to check the valves until the first main service not at the 600 mile check. RE dropped this at the beginning of the year.
@ 600 miles is the first main service. It’s the break in service
This bike is good only for straight Highway runs. Nice review my brother ❤❤❤💐🔥
