Certain things have been elevated since the 90's...but overall, the old classic shit is still better. Way better, actually. I'm not feeling the offbeat flows of Divino and Nack (his Tragic Allies shit was better.) I'm not feeling all the beats with no drums in them. I'm not feeling all the two-minute songs with no hooks, and all the lazy, twenty-minute-long "albums." I listen to a shitload of new rap, but the older stuff was just more consistently higher quality. It was like an excitement in the air back then that can never really be recaptured.
