However I did update the details of the video with formulation percentage ranges that you can use to customize your own recipe. Happy formulating.

@@Allesia1 Hi Oshana. These ingredients (depending on what time of fragrance, if any, are used) are safe to use on the face. However when using a face scrub I prefer to use products with less abrasive exfoliants like jojoba beads or flaxseed powder. It's a personal preference.
Hi Denise. When the water mixes with the body scrub in the shower it turns into a cream thus not leaving an oily residue on the skin. This is where the emulsification comes in.
@@destinyhope101 Hi Destiny. Yes, hard butters will cause the scrub to thicken more. Increase your liquid oils and decrease your butters until you receive your desired consistency.
The emulsifying wax keeps it from melting too quickly and it does harden up more as it sits. Although, I have not mailed it out during warmer months so I'm not sure how it would perform during shipping.
Hi may I ask what emulsifying wax you’re using? This is basically how I make my salt scrubs and they leave a slippery feel on the skin but I’m using btms 25 bc I can cross use it with other products, but maybe that’s why it’s so slippery? Trying to rectify this a bit.

Hi Debbie! The cetyl alcohol acts as a thickener as well as an emollient to help soften the skin. It's not a necessary ingredient but it does add a little something extra.
Yes. You can add any combination of oils you like, however may change the thickness so be aware of that. Maybe make a small batch first to see if you need adjust the other ingredients.
The stearic acid is used to thicken and bind the ingredients. If you don't use stearic you'll need to use another ingredient that has the same quality.
It doesn't separate. The emulsifier keeps everything together. I made some months ago that's currently in my shower and it's all still together. Plus the ingredients mix well with the sugar which also holds it together.
Hi Janelle, I use ounces so I'm not sure how to convert to grams. Perhaps you can use Google to determine how to do this? I'm sorry I can't be more help.
@@bettybrendabathproducts4747 no that's ok. U were helpful. I do have a question though I've made the emulsifying scrubs before but I find that the smell doesn't stay on your skin and just kind of washes off is there any kind of way to ensure that the fragrance stays on your skin? Also Walmart sells fragrance oils (the Mainstays brand) is that a good fragrance oil to use or is it best to go to the website that you talked about?
@@janelleharris6276 I normally depend on my body butter or lotion more for my smell. I personally would go to a reputable company that specializes in craft supplies to purchase fragrances. That way you can also see the correct usage ratr.
Hi Megan. I didn't supply the recipe for this one, but I posted another video today with a foaming body scrub and the full recipe is included in the description box. Thanks for watching.
I give percentages so you can tweak it to your exact amount. That way you don't have to make the amount I make. If you make recipes in ounces, you can multiply the percent times the amount you want to make and it will give you the exact amount. So if you want to make a total of 32 ounces, you'd multiply the percent of the ingredient times 32%.
You definitely left your oils a bit too long In the freezer. Looks like you had a workout getting it out of the bowl. The consistency looks too wet and greasy for my liking; but I'm sure other's would love it.
Absolutely love this silky scrub result, please provide recipe.

What did you emulsify? There was no water added…. This is just oil/butter and sugar…right?
Hi Denise. When the water mixes with the body scrub in the shower it turns into a cream thus not leaving an oily residue on the skin. This is where the emulsification comes in.
Hi . Thanks for this , how come sometimes my scrub comes out a little too hard ?
You may need to increase your amount of liquid oil. Body scrubs do tend to stiffen up as they sit and the sugar absorbs more of the liquid.
@@destinyhope101 Hi Destiny. Yes, hard butters will cause the scrub to thicken more. Increase your liquid oils and decrease your butters until you receive your desired consistency.
With this being mostly butter and oil, how sensitive is it to temperature change? Does it go hard?

If I want to put polysorbate 80..how much shall I put???
Hi Mira. I would only put about 1%.
I have everything but cetyl alcohol. Is it an important ingredient?

Will this melt to room temperature?
The butters, wax and emulsifier should keep it firm and stable

Don't you add a preservative as water can be introduced via wet hands
Can we add a soap base. If yes what %
