I've always just used soapy water because I have ridiculous numbers of things I'm allergic to, but I'm absolutely tickled by this Stamp Shammy idea. I don't think they have any chemicals in them, so I think it is worth ordering and trying. I'd also like to try this recipe for a Stamp Cleaner, but I'll try the Shammy first. "Retired" toothbrushes are such good cleaning tools for so many jobs! Thanks for this video, super helpful!

I use my shammy all the time and have no issues. My skin is super sensitive too. Hope you try one.

      The stamp shammy works wonders!

I’ve never used the baby wipes. I find that a little bit of Dawn dish soap works well. My “scrubby pad” is a paint pad from the hardware stores that I keep in a plastic pencil box.

Thank you for sharing your stamp cleaning ideas! I am always looking for solutions beyond the baby wipe, and will refer to this information!

I’ve always used baby wipes and clean quickly but I have some of those ‘hard when dry’ chamois that I’m definitely going to try. Thanks!!

I've used baby wipes for quite a while. Just got a lawn fawn but haven't used it yet. Thanks for the ideas and sharing of what does, and doesn't, work. Stay crafty girl!

Thank you for these tips!! I generally use a stamp shammy or damp paper towel to clean them as I’m working. I’ve purchased stamp cleaners in the past, but they don’t seem to do a whole lot. As long as the stamp still leaves a good image, I don’t mind them being a little “dirty”.

My favourite cleaner for stamp cleaning (and acrylic blocks) is gel hand sanitizer. Be careful with the staze on cleaner. The one I found was for rubber stamps NOT clear stamps.

Hi Elisa, I hope I have spelled your name correctly. Have you tried isopropol alcohol? I haven't tried it myself but it gets rid of permanent marker xx

I'll have to give that a try!

Great video been looking for a solution to clean the permanent ink pad off. My trick is use regular old acetone nail polish remover works like a charm if you don’t have that you can get a lot off with regular alcohol but mix these strong cleaners with glycerin to condition your stamps

Love the video! I use a microfiber cloth most of the time (I used the baby wipes and they are amazing, but I’m trying to avoid disposable and help the planet), or, if I will stamp a lot, I use the scrub from ranger. Its really inexpensive and works amazing! I would love the shammy, but its price is ridiculously high in Mexico, because it’s really hard to find.

Good point about the baby wipes - that is definitely something to keep in mind!

Will the alcohol solution not work in the stamps too?🤔

    • @ScrappyWife

I'm afraid it will hurt the clear stamps.

The clear stamps should be away from alcohol, in most of the brands, they have an advertise warning.

Hi Eliza (spelling?) Thanks for this video. Archival stamp cleaner from ranger ink works on those really permanent inks which I use if the ink is horrible. Thanks so much for the tip on block cleaners, that really bothered me and I will try it. I have glue from putting it on my cards to dry. Best, Lee

Hand sanitizer cleans the acrylic blocks quickly, easily, and is always handy.

I found that the StazOn cleaner still didn't get the StazOn Ink off.

Thanks for sharing these tips, Elisa! I got a recipe from Laura Sterckx at Making Cards is Fun quite some time ago. I generally reserve it for when my photopolymer stamps get dirty on the back & lose their ability to cling to the block. Very warm (not too hot) water, a squirt of dish soap, & a bit of lemon juice. I mix that up in a dish, let the stamps soak for about 15 minutes, then rinse them and lay them out to air dry on paper towels. I'm sure you can also dry them with a cloth. It seems to do a pretty good job. I've never really used it for "regular" cleaning, i.e. to get ink off, though I suppose it would work for that, too. Also, Ultra Clean stamp cleaner will get StazOn ink off stamps, and is safe for clear stamps, which the StazOn cleaner is not. I know Simon Says Stamp has Ultra Clean in a dauber bottle. Hero Arts used to sell a spray, though I can't seem to find that anymore. Brutus Monroe has a stamp cleaner that looks like it does the same thing, though I haven't tried it so can't speak to that. The Ultra Clean will take off other inks, too. I generally reserve it for Hero Arts, Simon Says Stamp, & solvent-based or archival inks--ones that I find hard to get off any other way. If I use that on my MISTI, though, I will "rinse" it with Ranger's water-based spray cleaner & a microfiber cloth, since the residue of the Ultra Clean can apparently damage the lid of the MISTI. Anything else, I just use my Absorber (from the cleaning aisle at the auto supply store) or the Ranger spray cleaner, which is available at least at Hobby Lobby and maybe Michael's. The Ranger cleaner even smells like bubble gum! For acrylic blocks, alcohol-based hand sanitizer works as well. Though that may be hard to come by these days! I just use that and a paper towel or cotton make-up cleaning round to clean my blocks every so often. Anyway, hope y'all are still doing well. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)
