  • Collider's Perri Nemiroff talks Poor Things with screenwriter Tony McNamara!
Here's the official synopsis for Poor Things:
"From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation."
Check out this Poor Things interview to hear all about the story's journey from book to script to screen, and to find out why McNamara decided to make a major change to the ending of the Alasdair Gray novel for the movie.

Why did they change the story?
Why did they change who Belle was, and that she dedicated her life to helping women? WHY?
It's always said, but THE BOOK WAS BETTER!

Well she did help the women in her life by the end of the film. Both her brothel partner and Godwins new creation. While turning the man who abused her and her mother into a goat
