I have that often, it takes one to cut the CV joint with an angle grinder to get it off, but it is a bummer when all you want to do is replace the boot only, once cut the CV joint needs to be replaced.
Will say that you need the right gearbox oil for that Mazda, SAE 75, not SAE80, which will make it hard to change gears. Also if that inner joint clip is in any way slack, replace with a new one from the agents, even from SAMCOR they are cheap, and will not slip out under load. Do not try to bend them to hold, they will not like it. Not a fan of the zip tie ones though, the metal band joint kits, though a lot more work to get right, do hold much better, and also do not leave that nasty end to slice your arm when doing brakes next time. A bit of the left over grease in the pack inside the boot also helps, though I often do not use the pack that comes with, but instead use Castrol CV joint grease in a tub, and add in a tube of Molyslip MoDi as well, to make it extra slippery. Yes leaves everything black for a week, and will pretty much never come off your overalls, but makes those joints silent again. A drop into the gearbox as well will stop any gear noise as well, but do not use on an auto box. Did that with my Fordza, as it had a slight whine in the gearbox when I got it at 93k gently abused kilometers, and it was silent when it rolled over to "new' again, and was still silent when it rolled over to "new" a few years later. I liked that van, it was small, 1400 engine, 4 speed box, but had a lot of get up and go, and I did every thing except strip and overhaul gearbox on it over the years, because that never gave problems again.
It is always a good thing to at least know a little about car maintenance, especially your own, this is why I started this channel in the 1st place, thanks for supporting my channel with your visit Nathi.

Great video, if only all cv joints could so easily be removed from the gearbox😂
Somehow UA-cam videos always makes it look easy, Ruan, Hahaha, thanks for the support.
Thank you sir, this helped me very much👍
You are welcome Mopar
It can still be done while the axle is inside the gearbox, right? It will be harder because of the space, but it can be done, right?
Thanks very much - I've got to do the inner boot, which I'll assume is similar process, knock the inner stub off the joint.
It is different Richard, easier to remove.
Dankie baie. 😁😁
Nice video, am looking for the inner cv joints for that same car any websites you can recommend or shops in South Africa?
Good job thanks.
Thanks for your support Cedric, I am glad you liked the video.

Dit is a plesier, Hein, dankie vir U ondersteunning.
No matter how hard I knock it on...it is never so easy popup like this...
I experienced the same many times, I had to cut it off with an angle grinder, but then the cv joint has to be replaced too.
@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 I had to that the last time - but the joint needed replacing.
Sometimes the complete joint has to be replaced due to wear, Richard.
